Guest CityFan 06 Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Most people go the home games expecting not to sing because they know those around them don't tend to sing either. The clappers have worked at home because they break that mindset by getting people involved a bit, giving them the encouragement they need to join in with the chants. This isn't the case at away games. Everyone will walk through the turnstiles at Carrow Road next week expecting to sing because they know that's what happens at away games - they don't need to be given any further encouragement! Spot on. The atmosphere at away's is always decent because people sing anyway. I think it's also easier to get songs, chants and claps going because there's usually 2,000 or so of us all standing/sitting together, instead of 30,000 fans all spread out at the King Power.
BigMicky Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Here we go again with the ultras claiming it to be "tinpot" if it helps us climb the table, couldn't care less. If they give them out at the turnstiles like they did for the cup game fans will be able to vote yes or no by whether they take one or not. I don't use them as I prefer to use my hands to clap but I'm sure they'll be some that got to away games regularly that will want them. Spot on post.

You've quite clearly not been to an away game if you think we need clappers, rather the money spent on reducing away tickets
Wymsey Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Can't the drummer take his drum to aways? Tend to sing better with it over the clappers imo.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 I'd rather a drum than clappers but even then I think they should only be at home games.
BigMicky Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 You've quite clearly not been to an away game if you think we need clappers, rather the money spent on reducing away tickets Clearly, you do realise away games are for all folk don't you? There is a category of fans that don't fit into the 16 to 45 category you know. No one is forcing you to use one? Others may like one. I've also not mentioned the "need" for them. My away travel isn't in question, is yours??
Dan Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Man United did it away at Hull at the end of last season and seemed to get away with it, if we do it we'll get torn to shreds. Not needed. I'm pretty sure that was Hull actually putting it on for them. These would be really unnecessary.
Fox42 Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Not sure if the local police would be happy with our club handing 3-4000 of our fans a projectile each. Paper cuts can be deadly. That is one of the most British things I have ever heard.

I would like one.

m4DD0gg Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Another great idea by the club. End of the day you don't have to use them. Most home games mine goes flying when we score score.
Matt Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 All it's gonna do is tempt people the throw them and then probably get chucked out. It's not really needed anyway, away fans generally use their hands.
BigMicky Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 FFS. What a laughing stock we are. Who is laughing?
ramboacdc Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 they shouldn't do it for away games. at away days our fans make enough noise without them. at home we have all the younger fans or ones unable to travel or more happy at home fans who use the clappers to feel involved. It gives us an atmosphere at home but we can do the job away.
yorkie1999 Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 The printing company they're getting them from must be laughing their heads off. Maybe the printing company has actually come up with this idea for away games. Imagine the money they could make if all the clubs took up the idea, all it takes is other clubs fans to start asking why they're not getting them.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 Please no. Not at away games too! They've done a great job getting people involved at home games, but our away support doesn't need the encouragement. Hopefully they'll die off soon altogether and people will still sing/clap when they see what a difference getting involved makes and we can at a push, use them for the odd game.
Jakemoore Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 I'll be at Norwich away. I'm a loud bastard. No need for clappers...

filbertstreet Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 I got the clappers after an away game once, itchy as hell
Soup Posted 25 September 2015 Posted 25 September 2015 The clappers are for bone idle people who want to pretend they are actively participating in making a noise.
