Viva Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Marcus Stewart scored 19 that year to be fair. And wasn't Finidi George tearing people apart? You might laugh, but it's not too dissimilar. Well there you go then, it's not too dissimilar. They managed 5th. If anybody thinks a team one point off the top after a third of the season has no chance of finishing 4th then they are wrong. The chances are it won't happen, but it's certainly possible. Which is why the original posters' question was not stupid.
The Doctor Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Talk of top four is a bit much at this moment, teams generally fall off! https://beanbagsports.com/blog/2015/11/10/five-premier-league-slumps-that-leicester-city-need-to-avoid/ Not from this position - the vast majority of the time, clubs with as many points as we have at this stage stay the course - normally though, they're a traditional big side, which might explain such a trend.
Webbo Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 We probably won't finish in the top 4 but does it hurt to discuss the hypothetical possibility?
Haydos Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Do you really think loads of Leicester fans are lumping on at 12/1? If they wanted more to bet on us they would raise the price. The price is just about right though compared to other teams. No, but they may have been at higher, if a load of money has been lumped on us at 30-40-50/1 then they need to cover their losses. Not from this position - the vast majority of the time, clubs with as many points as we have at this stage stay the course - normally though, they're a traditional big side, which might explain such a trend. Eh? Haven't West Ham and Southampton done almost exactly the same in the last few years and then fallen off?
The Doctor Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 No, but they may have been at higher, if a load of money has been lumped on us at 30-40-50/1 then they need to cover their losses. Eh? Haven't West Ham and Southampton done almost exactly the same in the last few years and then fallen off? Southampton did last year, but in general no. There've been good starts, but ours has been another level. Since the league went to 20 teams, 40 have had 25 points or more after 12 games, 32 have qualified for the champions league, 6 for the europa league and two (Wigan 2005/06 and Aston Villa in the late nineties) have missed out entirely.
fuchsntf Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Forget bookies, forget the doubters and cynics within our own ranks. We have 3rd spot, its not that we have to beat these so called super teams, but more importantly they still need to beat us. We are the unknown, the upstarts, We dont have to prove anything, we are in a non lose situation, Ranieri ,the team dont have to run the gauntlet, the press can discuss how they will, our fans are not going to the grounds, with too much expectation, but deliver a great atmosphere even when behind, with no spreading of negative vibes.Suprises are our business. This season the underating value is going to work in our favour. The unforgiving pace we produce, will worry on any given day even the big teams. The interesting game coming up is Manu. Last season their back four were poor at the KP, In the last few weeks, their defence have started to produce some compact performances. our target is to see if our safe-crackers, Vardy n Mahrez can break open that safe. This is still the era of belief...the 'Yes we can' moment where we ride in the slipstream. 3rd spot we have, the others have to try their best, to prove they can earn taking it. All in All, its our pleasure to sit back and enjoy the seasonal greetings, the 12 days of christmas might just be kind to us.We arent under any pressure, where others will be worried about burning the roast, and forget the brandy for the pud, and get their just deserts. Let the foxes get among the chickens..or Turkeys/geese...then its all tally-ho.
Viva Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 No, but they may have been at higher, if a load of money has been lumped on us at 30-40-50/1 then they need to cover their losses. West Ham and Palace are both currently around 20-25/1. We probably have a better chance than them with our points lead, so that is why we are a shorter price. 12/1 is about right. If you think top 4 is impossible then just lay us on Betfair and make yourself some easy money.
My Nads Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Away trips to Barcelona and Rome instead of Rotherham and Barnsley in the space of two years. Swings and roundabouts.
ScouseFox Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 where's the best pre match boozer in barcelona showin the early kick off anyone know
fuchsntf Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Swings and roundabouts. more like flamenco, and oki koki
My Nads Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 We can quite easily finish in the top 4. We would be 2nd in the league right now if you go back 20 games. (joint top I think) That's half a season, so all this talk about us dropping off is unfounded. Just listen the the opposition managers before each of our games, they really are worried about playing us. They all know how we play, but they can't stop us. 1) This is a fantastic team and getting better!! 2) There's no basis to think we will drop off. 3) Fergie said we could and noted we are the most consistent team. 4) The top 4 of recent seasons is now a top 2. Chelsea have imploded and Man U aren't a patch on Fergies Man U. 5) Saying the only good team we have played is Arsenal, is crap! We've played 4 of the top 7 teams. 6) We have only lost to last years champions, Chelsea and Arsenal in their best form in the last 20 games. If that's not top 4 form what is? I don't go into any game thinking we are going to lose. Maybe before we play Man City, but even they're dropping points against some pretty average teams. Have a bit of faith and enjoy it.
fuchsntf Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 I really think many posters are scared of believing...Hey what ever happens its been great so far.IMO 11 more points we are safe. If we finish 14th,10th,7th or top 4, we will have PL next season, this squad will not collapse, I am enjoying every moment, I dont look at the negative maybes, what comes will come. Its my pasttime, my hobby, my entertainment, why should I even look towards the downers or negatives, our normal everyday life gives us enough stress n shit, this ride is great, its took us 10yrs to get here, why spoil the moment. HEY we are the folk from Leicester, we cant lose, its a win win situation, city break all expectations, and have a manic season or 2, we all say told you so, or they implode and fall off towards the bottom, so what..!! we like nothing more as midlanders better than to have something to moan about, we would also be in our best element, and still go down to the pub, and kick the cat when we get home...

I agree, we should be enjoying this, it's terrific. I completely understand why some people are being cautious. Lets be honest, for the most part, the last 15 years have been horrible, so it's difficult to accept we are in the top 4 of the Premier League on merit. Some of us just can't believe it, that's all.
Leicesterpool Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 To be honest it's been a while since any midlands clubs as got into the top four.
Guest Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 I suppose it would make us officially a 'big club' in the eyes of many. Even though I'd argue we already are very much that.
Captain... Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Do you really think loads of Leicester fans are lumping on at 12/1? If they wanted more to bet on us they would raise the price. The price is just about right though compared to other teams. Exactly, they don't want loads of Leicester fans, or any football fan to put a load of money on so they tailor the odds, most people think we will drop off, but at 30-1 it's worth a punt at 12s not so much but it is still a good price. Maybe we can finish top 4, but I just can't see us staying ahead of United and Spurs by the end of the year, let alone May. I would love to be proved wrong.
goose2010 Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 It means that I will be absolutely skint! and probably have to use most of my holiday days travelling around Europe. Bring it on!
Harry5 Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Would defiantly end the debate on the greatest Leicester team of all time... Have you seen talk sports premier league super computer predictions of the BPL table for the end of the season? They've got us down to finish 11th. It's an absolute joke!!
AKCJ Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 where's the best pre match boozer in barcelona showin the early kick off anyone know El Spoons.
Leicesterpool Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 I suppose it would make us officially a 'big club' in the eyes of many. Even though I'd argue we already are very much that. This might be a daft question but the term "big club", if Leicester finished higher than Chelsea would that make us bigger than them!? or would it mean even if we finished higher they would still be considered a bigger club because they've won more things? Sorry to confuse folks.
les-tah Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Would we try if we made the Europa league or would we do a West Ham ??

AKCJ Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 You just know that if we finish 4th that UEFA will go sorry lads, arsenal were shit in the champions league so we're taking your spot away and giving it to belarus.
HighPeakFox Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Would definitely end the debate on the greatest Leicester team of all time... Have you seen talk sports premier league super computer predictions of the BPL table for the end of the season? They've got us down to finish 11th. It's an absolute joke!! Corrected for you

Sorry to confuse folks. Not saying we'd be bigger than Chelsea. It's a very subjective thing really. 30,000+ fans a home game. Sell out away every game. Looking to finish highly/respectfully in the table. Fairly Rich club. I'd argue we are a big club now.
