Viva Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 It's a stupid question, what do you expect? It's not a stupid question at all. We are around the 12/1 mark with most bookies, some as low as 8/1 to finish in the top 4. It's certainly not impossible.
Nick the Stats Guy Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 As far as I'm aware, Leicester City has only won one game in European competition (1961-62 Cup Winner's Cup), so to just make it to the Champions League would be incredible. I don't think it will happen, but it would probably be the best thing for our club to get some European exposure.
Bettsj2 Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 If it were to happen, it would change everything. Ticket prices, the players we'd sign, corporate sponsorship, the stadium size and the way we are viewed here and abroad. I kind of hope it doesnt happen. If we were to be around 10th, that would be fantastic. It would be good progress and a sound base to go again next year. Like some have said, it would be too far too fast. Even the Europa League wouldn't necessarily be a good thing. The fixture pile up can kill a club.
ARTY_FOX Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Even if we lost every game in the champions league I don't think I'd really be that bothered. Wouldn't expect to be there so anything good we do is a massive bonus. The only thing I'd want is Munich away for Oktoberfest
Thracian Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Some of you seem to think it's a fluke we're sitting third. I don't see that at all. a) We're setting out to win games and scoring the goals necessary to give us the chance of doing that. b) We have two forwards who are top and fourth respectively in the goalscoring lists and who both have the ability to provide assists as well. c) A team that was winning or taking points for the closing two months of last season has been further improved. d) The perceived weaknesses in our defence have been strengthened without negating the pace of our attacking. e) We have the funds and increased credibility to strengthen still further. f) We have outstanding supplementary facilities and an excellent scouting system. g) Our owners don't need to sell anyone. h) We have an outstanding club spirit from all I see. If all that's accepted I see no reason why we'd not do ourselves justice in European football. Because that is where our owners declaredly intend to be competing and they have the ambition, means, vision and bottle to do it.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 Selling my house and going back to live with mum
BoyJones Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 We would suddenly discover a lot more people loved us than we realised!
(.) (.) Posted 9 November 2015 Posted 9 November 2015 It would mean I could go on a week long piss up abroad. Munich for the beer festival would be perfect.
Carl the Llama Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 All I know is the longer this run goes on and the longer JV and RM stay the best players on the planet, the longer I get to fvck with my Man City supporting friend. So I guess it would mean I have one less friend come the end of the season.
4everfox Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Away trips to Barcelona and Rome instead of Rotherham and Barnsley in the space of two years.
RobbieOR Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Talk of top four is a bit much at this moment, teams generally fall off! https://beanbagsports.com/blog/2015/11/10/five-premier-league-slumps-that-leicester-city-need-to-avoid/
gal1990 Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Remember before the season, all the talk about Swansea etc... Came across this. Just shows how wrong it can go so quickly in football. http://www.comeonyouswans.com/featured/why-are-the-likes-of-west-ham-leicester-southampton-doing-better-than-the-swans_2015_11

Haydos Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 It's not a stupid question at all. We are around the 12/1 mark with most bookies, some as low as 8/1 to finish in the top 4. It's certainly not impossible. Bookies odds in reality don't indicate the likeliness of something happening though. We're not going to finish top 4, we've had about the easiest run of fixtures possible so far, and although we've hardly put a foot wrong there's much bigger tests to come. Add to that the quality in depth that we lack, and that we'd likely be hugely affected if Mahrez or Vardy are injured for more than a week or so and it just doesn't add up to a top 4 team. It would take something miraculous. I just can't see any of Man Utd, City, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool finishing below us. If we're still top 4 in another 8 games then i'll hold my hands up.
Captain... Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Bookies odds in reality don't indicate the likeliness of something happening though. True dat, bookies odds reflect the likelihood of people betting on it, they are probably worried about a load of optimistic Leicester fans lumping on it. They are just trying to manage the exposure by giving us crappy odds.
My Nads Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 I think it would kill us this early. We would need to spend about 150m+ on pretty much a new starting 11 to not let a Europe competition screw us in the prem and in the CL. Can you imagine if we got injuries and had De Laet and Schlupp as full backs against Barcelona. He could break the record for highest ever injury bill in one game! Messi, Naymar and Suarez all out dew to 50/50 head butt injuries and Shlupp carries on as if nothings happened, oblivious to the whole thing!
Finnegan Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 it'd probably mean wed have to play in that stupid world cup competition after we win the champs league too But Riyad could finally get his ballon dor.
ScouseFox Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 But Riyad could finally get his ballon dor. nah he wouldn't get it cos he don't play for a top four club mate
Finn Claw II Posted 10 November 2015 Posted 10 November 2015 Talk of Europe let alone Champions League should at least wait until after the december games. Man City, Arsenal, Spurs and Man Utd is my top 4. But assuming one of those (and Liverpool and Chelsea) have a run of poor form, a non 'big' club could finish highly. Next season is the African Cup of Nations so we will lose Mahrez and Schlupp (Kante might decide on Mali as well). If we did make it, I'd hope we would use it to recruit a couple of decent targets and aim to reach the group stages (anything else would be bonus). To get to the group stages (which Celtic often make, doesn't require huge expenditure). I'd back us to beat Celtic at the moment. More interesting question for me is, will we finish above Chelsea? We have 14 points on them.

Yes they do. They factor in a percentage of profit for them, but then that's pretty much the chance of something happening. I would say 1 in 12 times a team in our position would finish in the top 4 especially considering we have a 14 point head start on one of the usual top 4. So the odds are about right. Remember Ipswich were not far from 4th place before when they came 5th. They didn't have a player as good as Vardy or Mahrez either.

The price is just about right though compared to other teams.

And wasn't Finidi George tearing people apart? You might laugh, but it's not too dissimilar.
