lgfualol Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Make of this what you wantInsane stats. The war on terror was ****ing stupid. I think people just like to forget that the West have caused utter nightmares in the middle east. Now groups of nutters are retaliating, everyone is shocked and offended by it. Edit. I think some of the stats are incorrect. Still raise some points.
AKCJ Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 I love how many people don't get the irony of the phase "war on terror".
leicsmac Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Right how many atomic bomb makers have we on here the conversations are like a jihadi cookbook Is FT now over run by ISIS using it as a cover for atomic bomb manufacturing lessons ? What would you like to know?
Guest Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 The Islamic-State-linked Furat media group has released a new French-language video celebrating the Paris attacks, and threatening more violence against France, BBC Monitoring reports. The film features three French-speaking militants saying the attacks were carried out "in revenge for the suffering of Muslims at French hands". They praise the previous attacks by Mohammed Merah in 2012 and Amedy Coulibaly in January 2015, and threaten more, saying they will "strike at the heart" of Paris. The video also features an Islamic State French-language anthem.
MikeyT Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Apart from me being there a couple of streets away from the gunmen at the restaurants, also just seen one of my friends who is currently living in America, was friends with the Eagles of Death Metal's merchandise manager who was murdered. She has posted a photo of her with him.
Guest Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 If the immigration didn't happen then the attacks wouldn't have happened. You'll be pleased to know that Hollande is likely to re-install border controls. Following on from the Egyptian airport/plane attack he's also got the police searching for any "radicalised individuals" working for CdG airport.
Guest Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Furthermore he intends to shut down places that glorify terrorism. It seems he's on a roll. His popularity should shoot up (for a month or so).
MooseBreath Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Furthermore he intends to shut down places that glorify terrorism. It seems he's on a roll. His popularity should shoot up (for a month or so). Is he on a roll or he is just responding to the attack? I found the BBC's "Hollande lurches to the right" article yesterday quite distasteful. If it so happens that protecting innocent people involves supposed "right wing" politics then so be it. Politicising his response is distasteful.
Larry_LCFC Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 I miss out 5 or 6 pages and we have gone from showing respect for Paris to arguing about atomic bombs and nuclear fusion...... really?

I guess some of the policies are associated with "right of centre" politics but I don't see any big deal in that. Maybe some of them should have been considered after Charlie Hebdo.

If it so happens that protecting innocent people involves supposed "right wing" politics then so be it. Politicising his response is distasteful. Seems it is a right wing policy: Time magazine has published a piece by Marine Le Pen, leader of France’s far-right National Front party, in which she puts the blame for the attacks largely on France’s immigration policy.“Too often, we have confused hospitality with blindness. Not all of those we’ve opened our doors to have come to France with a love of our way of life,” she says.
Guest Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Today's raids were apparently prompted by local and international intel (I believe from Morocco) that there was to be an attack on the business district in the immediate future. It is also being reported that the woman who blew herself up made a phone call before doing so to potential accomplices.
Guest Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Will the Davis Cup finals in Belgium be postponed or transferred elsewhere given the circumstances?
Webbo Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Seems it is a right wing policy: What would be the left wing response?
Guest Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 What would be the left wing response? To not close borders I presume and welcome the migrants. Though maybe the extreme left would do exactly the same. I don't know, I was just replying to Moose's comment on the BBC (or whoever) claiming it was a right wing policy or a move towards the right (or whatever he said). It seems that the far right in France would agree that it is. Marine LePen has been in her element the last few days blaming the govt. for letting foreigners in.
Thracian Posted 18 November 2015 Posted 18 November 2015 Believe what you want. I've worked many hours, in fact many full days with many of them. I'm an English teacher for the French state. You might know Norman Eatough then.

In a school ? Qualified school teacher ? Or like my drongo brother does for the Venezuelan state ? He teaches English to rich generals and their wives (who all love huge breast implants) who all one day want to live in Florida
