Is there something wrong with being an idealist on here or something?

I mean, if we're all that cynical about humanity eventually getting along we may as well draw the curtain on the human race right now and hope the next "intelligent" species doesn't fvck things up quite as badly as we have.

And quite frankly, if we continue to kill and exert power for such petty reasons then we don't deserve to survive as a species anyway. If you want humanity to keep going to the next however many millenia, then you also need to hope we do it as one species.

Nothing wrong with it, but don't expect anybody to really take it seriously in today's World, twenty years Europe looked fairly secure and maybe we were heading towards something special, but importing the World's most hardcore and fanatical religion onto it's shores en masse whilst deciding to pursue some horrific aggressive foreign policy in the Islamic World has put paid to any utopian ideals here for a long long time.

We now face one of the most serious threats we ever have, the most basic history lesson anyone can learn is that civilisations that fail to defend themselves will cease to exist.

I think you're overstating the "importing hardcore and fanatical religion" bit.

Over the last generation the world has shrunk incredibly. It's easy to get into a country and communications are on a completely different level. This makes this form of terrorism so much easier. It's likely to have happened whether we allowed immigration or not considering the "horrific aggressive policy" we have taken.

If that is indeed the case and realpolitik and force are the only way that civilisation will advance, then the book on humans has already been written and the ending is clear. I really hope that it's not the case though - I'd rather like our species to go down as the one that shaped Earth and (possibly) other places too in a way that will be remembered well, not just some slightly more evolved primates who fought with each other continuously until either themselves or the Earth blew them all up.

Seems that the woman who blew herself up this morning is a relative of Abaaoud.

Good stuff I hope she is being ravaged in hell by a pack of wolf hounds

I still think there is some hope, parts of Asia, the Americas can still develop humanity, the Japanese certainly seem to have learnt how not to do it in terms of immigration and foreign policy since WW2.

Europe and the Middle East is finished though, the final chapter of our history will either be written in Arabic or Chinese.

The only reason any of the extremists were in Paris on Friday was because of immigration policy. You can't email a suicide bomb.

There were threats made to two separate Air France flights from America to France. Both of which were instructed to land and are re-scheduled to take off later this evening.

A few more attacks like this and most of Europe will get tough on border control. Meanwhile ISIS will get bombed out of existence, and something else will pop up in its place, but without free access to Europe they won't present much of a threat. Homegrown terrorism will continue now for decades. Too many lives will be lost, but ultimately I don't think it will come close to destroying Europe.

I don't think a 20 odd thousand poorly trained ISIS goons with guns pose any kind of serious threat to Europe.  They have nicked a bit of land in Iraq and Syria from weakened states in the midst of civil war.  They really aren't going to take over the world.  If they were they would be wasting resource bombing Paris, they would be taking Syria and Iraq.

I'm not claiming ISIS will take over Europe, no reason to think we won't face the same long term problems any other area of the World has though who has engaged in mass Muslim immigration, I expect Europe to fall to Islam over the next few hundred years with barely a bullet being fired.

But they have taken over people's minds. ISIS have no interest in taking over Europe anyway - they want a holy war on their territory as they believe this will bring about judgement day.

I guess if you go back long enough we're all immigrants aren't we?

And both were hoaxes weren't they?

People calling in hoax calls like that ought to be sentenced as though it was the crime they pretended.

You're quoting things about nuclear weapons (and A bombs) that you have no understanding of. Neither how they work or what they are or the consequences or the actual reality of it's use in Japan nor the after effects of the war .... Shall I go on?

Having been a fully qualified mechanical engineer for the best part of 30 years i think i have an basic understanding of how nuclear energy works, both  fission and fusion , the power it can produce when used as a weapon and also the consequences. Nuclear weapons don't necessarily have to be 500 kiloton monsters that destroys huge areas, but can be a lot smaller and only have a blast radius the size of half a football pitch. They are called suitcase nuclear devices, and their intention is to send a message that we know where you are, we can get to you and we are prepared to use our ultimate power against you, which IMO, is how we deal with a terrorist group such as isis who it would appear, represent a religious ideal. These terrorists are not like the IRA, who represented a political ideal. The IRA would contact the authorities before they blew something up on mainland Britain, the area could be cleared and there would be minimum casualties and maximum political statement. Sending planes over Syria and dropping an extra 20 bombs a night such as France are doing is not going to solve anything, its not sending a message out, its just blowing things up and probably killing more innocent people than terrorists. Obviously you would know this, after all you are GOD...
