Demarai Gray - Official

I'm all for getting in talented youngsters to the squad, but surely he will be one for the future and will go back to Brum on loan.

Birmingham boss Gary Rowett has confirmed to Sky Sports that an un-named Premier League club - thought to be Leicester - has triggered the buy-out clause in Demarai Gray's contract.

Up to ten clubs were reported to be interested in signing the highly-rated teenager but it is believed the Foxes who the Blues have given the player permission to speak to.

Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri had previously refused to be drawn on speculation linking the England U20 winger with a move to the King Power stadium amid interest from Bournemouth.

Can't be any worse than Dyer has been in recent weeks...

not impressed from what ive seen of him but our scouts are usually pretty on the ball

Except for Inler, Benalouane and Kramaric, who despite costing a minor fortune can't even get into the side or look less than special when they do.

Has the potential to be a very smart signing. Skilful and quick. To be honest I have total faith in our scouting system with some of the fantastic signings they've bought into the club.

You can't call everything. I say they've been doing excellent work compared to the scouts at some of the other top flight clubs. Take Liverpool for example, hundreds of millions spent since they bought Suarez, and yet the only good business they've done is sign Coutinho, Sturridge, and possibly Emre Can. Everyone else is overpriced garbage.

Starting to build a squad where even those youngsters on the periphery who go out on loan to Championship clubs are then impressing or that club's best players (Chillwell, Lawrence, Gray if he signs and goes back to Brum). We'll soon be in the position of having a reserve team good enough to challenge for promotion from The Championship!

If you expect them to get every signing correct you are in cloud cuckoo land. It's about percentages, and we as a club have done very very well out of them so far.

I'd send Dyer to Brum - he can change trains there for South Wales.

If Gray's not better than he was today he's got problems.

Will be disappointed if he is loaned back to Brum. What better way to make his debut for us in the cup against Spurs next week give him a chance see how he goes? Would be useful having him on the bench too.

I am not. But have you noticed how our so-called big signings are anything but major profiles in this team? Surely when we spend near £20m on those three players and they don't play they have to be considered major flops and raise serious questions about our high-profile scouting.

Demarai Gray 'only' costs justs shy of £4m so you could argue it's a cheap gamble, but conversely at 19 and with no top flight experience, you're not going to expect him to have any impact this season (obviously not if he gets loaned back until summer).

But this supposed transfer might be a sign that Ranieri is, in fact, pleased with the squad he has.

He'll surely be cup tied?

Birmingham haven't played in the FA cup this season

I'm not sure about sending him back on loan to Birmingham if I'm honest, it's quite clear we need more cover and Gray could provide that. That being said, if Schlupp is close to a return, then it could make more sense to push Schlupp up from left back if needed and give Gray a bit of game time that he might not get here just yet.

He's highly rated though, so could prove a bit of a coup for a small fee.

Well considering several were signed for a different manager with different tactics, it's hard to say whether they would be playing a bigger part under him or doing better. You then have the question marks over one of not two signings as to who picked them... That's repeated in nationals and local press as well.

Kante is one of our biggest ever buys end already worth 4 or 5 times what was paid.
