Well considering several were signed for a different manager with different tactics, it's hard to say whether they would be playing a bigger part under him or doing better. You then have the question marks over one of not two signings as to who picked them... That's repeated in nationals and local press as well.

Kante is one of our biggest ever buys end already worth 4 or 5 times what was paid.

It's a valid point, especially with Kanté. I don't think anyone expected him to have this level of success. But really, he's the only multimillion player we've signed that's turned out to be an indisputable success and worth more than what we paid for him with the possible exception of Huth.

Ulloa, despite having a fine first season, is now struggling to cope, partly due to tactics I suppose. The others have given hardly any return on their investments. Okazaki might well have signed with a Pearson team in mind, but Ranieri certainly rates him and uses him, yet he's not really shown why we've forked out nearly £8m quid for him. Inler is a flop so far and £5,5m for a defender who is only our 4th choice centerback is mystifying. Kramaric? Well...

I suppose my point is, our cheap and free signings have delivered much more than our expensive signings, and not just this season and last season either. Wood, Waghorn, Beckford off the top of my head failed to deliver on hefty fees. Vardy, Albrighton, De Laet, Drinkwater, Mahrez, Morgan, Fuchs, Nugent, Wasilewski, Cambiasso are all players that we would've been happy to dish out several millions for each in hindsight... the hits we've had with these cheap players is phenomenal, so I'm left wondering why this is the case.

Imagine this in 5 years time.

RM - Mahrez

CAM -Tom Lawrence

LM - Gray

CF - Dodoo

We could be building a very good, young squad.

Only one of those has shown any indication that he will be of Premier League class in 5 years time

Watched a few videos of him and he looks well below the standard we're currently playing at, but as one for the future for less than £4m it's worth a gamble as long as his personality and attitude correct.

Don't let Babylon have you tied up in knots.

You're right. Some of our signings, having been scouted by the club, have been duffers. And not inexpensive ones either.

Some have been amazing too.

Simple.

Everton are reportedly trying to hi-jack Demarai Gray’s move to Leicester City.

According to the Daily Mirror the Goodison Park outfit are looking to make an 11th hour bid for the Birmingham City winger.

Our sister paper points out the Toffees have watched Gray on several, with scout Jim Barron a keen admirer.

Gray has a £3.75m release clause in his contract, which Leicester have triggered.

But Roberto Martinez could match that bid giving Gray a choice between remaining in Birmingham and travelling daily to Leicester, or moving to Liverpool.

Haha Everton are a small club going nowhere with that clown in charge. Maybe if the lad wants to become a full back seeing Coleman or Baines perennially beyond him leaving him to defend on his own he will go there.

Looks and sounds like a great prospect, not sure about loaning him back to Brum though, play him against Spurs in the cup and hopefully he will get a run in the team, with the likes of Chilwell & Lawrence coming good the future is looking good for Leicester....

Up the City.......

5 years is a long time. They could all end up flopping and being championship players (with the exception of Mahrez) But it's still exciting!

Its a good job we are title challengers and all they are challenging for is mid table mediocrity then. Any footballer would be mad to go to Everton over Leicester under current circumstances.

So we loan him out! We must have some damned good reserves I've never seen.

That's true but those reserves haven't already played nearly 100 games in the championship! Gray would gain nothing if he came back to Birmingham, maybe loaning him to a struggling premier league club may be beneficial so he can get some top level game time?

Hi,I'm a Birmingham season ticket holder and really hope he goes to lcfc.Bournmouth offered 8m in summer which we turned down so if you get him for just under 4m what a bargain you have got.also I think at lcfc he would become even better than what he is now.

Good luck for rest of season.

Yes mate I do,I also think he will end up playing for England at some point.

Don't want him to go to be honest.

But if he's going to I would want him to go to a club like yours.

Cheers

Bournemouth's full offer was never actually published to the public, we know it was around 8 million but most of that wasn't up front. 4 million up front is much more preferable to Birmingham than 1 or 2 million up front and the rest over a long time period

Surely, surely being able to stay put and play for a team already up in 2nd on 40pts under Ranieri is preferable to moving to Liverpool and playing for mid-table no-marks under Martinez.  It can't be a hard choice, can it?

Evertonian here, I come in peace. Do you honestly believe.....

"Surely, surely being able to stay put and play for a team already up in 2nd on 40pts under Ranieri is preferable to moving to Liverpool and playing for mid-table no-marks under Martinez.  It can't be a hard choice, can it?"

"if he chooses everton over us then life has no meaning."

"Its a good job we are title challengers and all they are challenging for is mid table mediocrity then. Any footballer would be mad to go to Everton over Leicester under current circumstances."

In all honesty congratulations on reaching the magical 40 points for the season, but do you really believe that your more of an attraction to a young player than going to a relatively consistent top ten finishing Premier League team? are you also going to tell me that a player would choose Leicester over playing with the likes of Lukaku, Deulofeu, Barkley, Coleman, Stones, McCarthy, Mori, Galloway and thats just the youngsters that are playing regularly. There are a host of senior players with top level experience to offer.

Sorry lads and lasses but given the recent history of how good Everton are with youth players and nurturing them to a top level then this kid would be mad to choose LCFC over Everton.

Anyway I'm not suggesting for one moment you will agree, but good luck with the second half of the season if your still up there at the end of the season I will doth my cap to you and congratulate (especially if it means Liverpool don't qualify!)

I pretty much just came on here to write this. We're no more of an attractive proposition than Everton.

Some of the stuff on here is embarrassing...

As an aside apparently Liverpool have first dibs on him legally if they want him.
