Gerard Posted 1 January 2016 Posted 1 January 2016 Not necessarily. I would expect Gray to possibly get loaned out, if he is a success we will have him back, if not £3.75m isn't a huge gamble so it's worth the risk as a long term signing where as Dyer would be viewed as the answer at the minute. There's hardly any gamble in it. Surely even if he flops here we can recoup all that fee in two years by selling him as a 21 year old to a Championship club, it's a win, win situation. I've not seen him play but signing highly rated 19 year olds for this money is great business by us.
RedSoxUK Posted 1 January 2016 Posted 1 January 2016 Great bit of business if he comes in for this price!
LCCFox96 Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 This would be a fantastic bit of business. He looks an abundance of talent and has the pace and direct style of play to suit our game. Can see him working out very well for us. For those suggesting a loan out, the guy has played nearly 80 Championship level games for Birmingham. He's got far more pitch time under his belt than your average 19 year old academy graduate. Perhaps a suggestion of the level of player we are picking up for a peanuts transfer fee.
cjslcfc Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Think he would suit us. At just under £4m it's absolutely a no-brainer and barely a risk. Sign him up
Guest Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Nah he's ****ing crap. seconded. looked well out of place. Couldn't even get in Blackburns team at Bolton the other day.
Callabinho Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 He's 19, to suggest he's crap is ludicrous, at 19 can you expect levels of maturity that would see him consistently perform week in week out? No. He has all of the right attributes to become a great player, players aren't the finished article you know at 19, it gives us a chance to mould him into the player he should be, he's made the right choice to join us if the papers are true.
Babylon Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 seconded. looked well out of place. Couldn't even get in Blackburns team at Bolton the other day.And Gray can't get in Birminghams team either. They are both young players who will develop. They have both showed a lot of talent, but also can be inconsistent... Not a shock at their age. Nothing wrong with buying young talent and seeing if they develop. If they do to your level then you get a bargain, if they don't then you could still make a profit on them even if they only improve slightly. Big clubs have been doing it for years. I wouldn't look at him as first team material yet.
TMELcfc Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Been much more impressed by Graham but I won't criticise our scouting team if they want him... They would've watched him for a while.
teblin Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 And Gray can't get in Birminghams team either. Indeed and it wasn't that long ago that vardy couldn't get into ours.
HighPeakFox Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 What's Burnley's Gray like? Only a name to me but I know he's been banging some in..............
Finnaldo Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 What's Burnley's Gray like? Only a name to me but I know he's been banging some in.............. Remember watching him at the old Hinckley United and he was fast and tenacious, in some ways similar to Vardy, a enjoying a similar rise now as well. Would be great to see him again all the way from his Hinckley days, definitely looks like he's a lot more refined now.
Ric Flair Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 Been much more impressed by Graham but I won't criticise our scouting team if they want him... They would've watched him for a while. Graham does look talented but he's only made about 10 appearances so it's early days. Gray was very good by all accounts last season but seems to have stalled slightly this season. Rowett has changed his tune and seems happy to sell him now as the hype must be pissing him off.
Vicki Vixen Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 What would be the point in loaning him out? He spends the next half of this season in and around the first team squad without likely bring a very big part of it. He gets to know the players. The players and management get to know him. He acclimatizes to a new level and then he is ready to stake a claim to be a more involved member of the first 11/18 when we start pre-season. All we do by loaning him out is waste half a season. Everybody on FT is always so quick to loan players out! Spot on. Plenty on here want anyone who isn't making the starting XI or subs bench out on loan, like we're playing in a season of Football Manager.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 seconded. looked well out of place. Couldn't even get in Blackburns team at Bolton the other day. Much to the disgust of their fans, I live with a Blackburn fan and he raves about Lawrence and said fans weren't happy he was on the bench let alone that Kaita and Delfounso both got on the pitch ahead of him. Lamberts decided to drop their main goalscorer in Rhodes into the number 10 role and play Kaita upfront, presumably in the mould of Benteke, so I wouldn't read to much into whether hes getting a game or not.
Bettsj2 Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 He's not in their side because they know they're selling him. £4m to Birmingham is a lot of money they cant risk.
dbtcity Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 He's not in their side because they know they're selling him. £4m to Birmingham is a lot of money they cant risk. This same goes for Lawrence at Blackburn he didn't play the other day as they're expecting us to bring him back in Jan so may as well use what they've got, same goes for gray I guess they no he's off so are trying to get the players that they will have at there disposal game time and up to speed

ballsooo Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 The Gray deal is in advanced stages and should be finalised soon. #lcfc - Rob Tanner
darko2k7 Posted 2 January 2016 Posted 2 January 2016 yep its looking very likely now. not in the Birmingham squad today either . Good start to jan
