Fatigue

Before I start this isn't a moan thread.

Does anyone else think many of our first teamers look like they've ran out of steam? Since the United game we've looked pretty laboured and aren't able to impose our style of play on teams.

It's not a criticism as it's understandable that the players will be feeling it after a rip rawing start to the season. I think we need to add another game plan to slow games down a little and KEEP THE BALL!

Too many times now we're just hoofing the ball and its coming straight back at us.

Hopefully the rest they had against Spurs helps and we don't rush Vardy back tonight unless he's 100%. Would much rather having him firing on all cylinders against Villa on Saturday

We need a plan B when it comes to scoring goals..

Far too reliant on vardy and Mahrez..

Need to sign a top quality striker in this window!

Exactly, when there not firing are team looks bang average and lacks the edge that wins you games.

Need more than 1 or 2 match winners.

Yes I do, we cannot expect the 11 players to play at the tempo we do for the whole season.

I think we will see certain players rotated now, because for me against Bournemouth, we looked fatigued.

Still think we could add to the squad, but Claudio appears happy, and considering his first half of the season, I think we have to trust him

Agree about needing a plan B and that will be the measure pf Ranieri imo. Must be tough for a manager to look for a plan b when your plan A has been so effective. It's something that he now needs to think about

I'm a lot less worried about fatigue after how well the reserves played against Spurs, particularly the 2nd half. Matty James will be available again soon so that's an extra body. Okazaki also looked far more effective playing as the main striker too so I think if Vardy does need extra games off he can cover for him. That said it'd be nice if we brought in another couple of options before the end of the window

Seems like he's thought about it and decided.. No more signings in January?

..half a season to go and no other striker options seems crazy to me!?... Here's our once in a lifetime opportunity to cement CL football but without more quality options up front I think we'll blow it!

It's a tricky transfer window for us imo though as we're looking for a very specific kind of player.

We need to sign people that are of better quality than the players we have (obviously) but who are not big time charlies that will upset the fantastic team spirit we have.

If we can't find a plan b from new personnel then we need one in our style of play

Teams have started to set up to stop us rather than set up to play their own way. So its no surprise that we haven't been able to impose our style like we have done so far this season. I don't think fatigue is the main reason why we have gone a little off the boil. Just that we need to find different ways of unlocking stubborn defences.

I'm not worried anyway. A little squad rotation would be healthy. Our squad is good enough to play in the prem. I would certainly like to see another striker come in if Kramaric doesn't get a look in. Other than that i'm confident the players we have can achieve great things this season. Just need to utilise the whole squad over the next few weeks so our best 11 can recharge ready for a final push.

The spurs fa cup game showed we've got good strength in depth.. Apart from GK, RB and Striker positions..

Good post. I just don't want

us to undo the amazing work we've put in by burning out. Think you're definitely right about teams setting up to stop us though. The amount of games over the past 3 weeks where Mahrez has been doubled sometimes trebled up on proves that

I sort of agree with what everyone is saying here. I think it's worth remembering that all teams will have dips in form (for whatever reasons) and I think we have to assume that CR won't be panic buying on the back of such a dip. I also expect he won't be using the mantra 'it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance for CL', because although I totally understand that sentiment, it ain't necessarily so, and it certainly isn't a good basis for calm decision making.

Not at all worried look at our last few games we should have beaten Man City Vardy should have scored when he went through one on one, he could and perhaps should have scored at least two against Bournemouth and we missed a penalty in that game again we should have won. Our second string showed that they are no mugs and competed well against a good Spurs team who had to bring on their big guns in order to stop us winning. A dodgy penalty against us proved decisive.

Teams are setting up to stop us Mahrez had three players marking him when we played Man City. This, is a good sign let the opposition worry about us rather than concentrating on their own style of play.

Looking forward to tonight cos I believe if Spurs come out to attack us this could play into our hands we could kill them on the counter attack when we click at that we are unplayable.

I don't think we really need to sign anyone else what we have is good enough to compete at the top level. Why waste money Kramaric being a good example. Let him go even if we recoup only 6 million it will help to perhaps buy the odd one or two in the Summer.

The majority of first team have had a week and a half off!! if they are struggling with fatigue there is something wrong, a lot of these players have played championship football where you pretty much play twice a week every week! We have one of the fittest squads with a world class set of physio's and coaches and one of the best sports science teams in the world! I imagine the lads will be chomping at the bit to get playing tonight with a solid 6-7 players hot on their heels to get regular first time action.

I agree to a certain extent. Kasper is a good keeper. That's all he is though imo. Overall he does a good job. Im more worried about who we have behind him.

De Laet offers us some good attacking options but defensively not as good as Simpson and vice versa. Ideally it would be good to have a RB who can do both like Fuchs but if it comes to the end of the window and we still have Simpson and De Laet as a RB Im not too concerned.

Its the striker I am most worried about but tbh I think Kramaric could be a useful asset. If Ranieri insists on not playing him though then that's the area that needs strengthening most imo.

So if what Ranieri says is true regarding our business being done then my only big concern is not using Kramaric. I don't believe for a second though that our business is complete. I fully expect Kramaric to leave (shame but prob for the best) and us to bring in another striker.

To me the problem seems to be that we've gone from counter attacking football by playing the ball through from the midfield to counter attacking football where kasper just boots the ball up field giving the opposition at least a 50-50 chance of getting the ball.

I'm not worried about fatigue - I actually think the squad looks fine. And - as others have said - there are teams with busier schedules than ours.

I am, however, worried about the lack of a plan B.

Also as yorkie said, we've been much more direct in the last few games.

Schmeichel is no longer rolling the ball out to the full backs, we're just lumping it up and hoping to find Vardy or for Ulloa to hold it up (which he doesn't actually do that often). That's why our possession levels were even worse than usual in the first half against Spurs on Sunday (like 25% or something).

i do think they have looked a little off the pace, but, i really dont think they should be. I mean until now, theyve only been playing one game a week and they should surely be capable of managing 40+ games ....even with our high paced game.

I think we've just been a hell of a lot more defensive recently, by sitting deeper it gives off the impression that the players are tired.

It's ok being defensive but that means we have to try to keep the ball a bit else its just wave after wave of attacks we're being out under

I'd like to see us pushing up a bit more and putting a bit more pressure on teams like we did in the second halves on the Spurs and Everton games.

Ranieri's plan seems to be keep it tight first half then go more offensive in the second half of games. The majority of the time it pays off so he's clearly found a decent formula. It makes for pretty dreadful watching in the first half of a game though.

I think with the introduction of gray, we now have great pace and goals across all three prongs Gray Vardy Mahrez so hopefully we will be back to looking our dangerous best soon.

If bang average stops us being in a relegation fight then I'm content... for now lol:)
