1 win in 7 games

Everything is fine, everything is fine, before the "goal drought" our main problem was cleansheets, we get our fair share now. It's better to go out the cup early with our small squad, after tonight I really think if kante vardy and mahrez can play 12 out the 16 remaining games we're nailed on for top 4.

People expecting a victory and marquee performance every game.

People demanding we spend loadsa money, no matter the effect on the team ethic or wage structure, and in utter ignorance of the scouting success we have had recently.

Sigh...

It's symptomatic of the "I want it all, I want it now" culture.

It's like people have forgotten, in about 5 months where this club has come from.

People who want it all and want it now tend to support Man Utd, Chelsea and Man City, and look where they are in the table compared to us.

This thread, and the way it makes our fans look, depress the hell out of me.

:(

It's because this is a once-in-a-life-time opportunity. If I'm honest, I don't think we'll ever have another chance to finish in the champions league again. I know we have no right to be there, and should be happy to even stay in the league, but given how well we've done, I would be absolutely gutted if we failed to get there now.

This is pretty much spot on.

the only really concerning performance was villa, that was the only time I've seen our first xi perform badly for some time. Bournemouth ground their point out well and deserved credit. aside from that your looking at three games against Spurs Liverpool away and Manchester city.

Things could get worse before they get better with the fixture list we've got coming up, three points Saturday would be most welcome. I'd still not be too concerned though. We support Leicester city, we are level on points with Arsenal at the top of the premier league in late January

I'm sorry but we've taken 4 points from two Premier League away games including an absolutely massive win at Spurs when it truly mattered with the 1st teams out...

We were spoilt firing in the goals earlier in the season, lest we forget we were conceding 2 goals a game most weeks aswell.

Now we have only conceded one Premier League goal in four games. Against Man City, Spurs, Bournemouth and Villa.

Sure we have only scored twice in those games but we've taken 6 points... That's 1.5 points per game which is awesome given the games played.

Our 9 reserves didn't show up tonight, Spurs wanted it more etc.... But this could be a blessing in disguise, Spurs now have to play Saturday away then Tuesday night in the important league game.

Our boys will have the weekend off before Liverpool at home.

Season derailed, we've gone rubbish and all that rhetoric needs to stop. We haven't been as incredible in an attacking sense recently, however we have made clean sheets and are still joint top.

Ultimately had Mahrez stuck the two penalties away we would be 4 points clear and this negative thread wouldn't exist.

The title is still in our hands. Man United are crap, Arsenal can play crap they lost 4-0 to Southampton for goodness sake. Man City have lost 5 this season, Arsenal 4, and us only 2.

They also have champions league to concentrate on and we do not.

I wanted to win tonight, it was freezing cold in the ground, there was a bizarre 25 minute turnstile queue resulting in missing 10 minutes and we delivered a completely inept performance overall.

However let's just win Saturday and be glad we don't have to play an extra match when we are on the edge of Champions League qualification.

Good post buddy

Not qualifying for Europe would upset me CL always has and still does seem to good to be true for me, not that we don't have a decent chance.

we are joint top

Joint top

No,we are second..If the season finished now Arsenal would win the title, not us.

Joint top is such a stupid phrase.

It's not an excuse to throw your toys out the pram though which is what far too many people are doing, if anything that's exactly why we need to get behind the lads and avoid the temptation to jump on their backs.  We're far from out of the CL places right now, look at the table.

Villa was a terrible performance.

Bournemouth grinded out a well deserved 0-0. Credit to them.

Liverpool, Man City and Spurs were the other three games. 0-0 at home to MCFC is a good point. We nailed Spurs at their place and lost to Liverpool in our first bad game in months.

I still think we will finish top 4. Remember the other sides are just as inconsistent. A win against Stoke would be welcome thou

the style has changed, no more pressure like before and a lot of hoofing, adds to that vardy and mahrez are quiet.

only positive is the defense since liverpool.

the best players had to be better imo, they are the locomotive of the team.

finaly, a good striker is needed for sure

for comparisons sake, in the 5 league games since "we last played well", we've picked up 6 points with the form LDDWD.

arsenal; 8 points, LWWDD. against a much easier 5 teams it has to be said.

man city; 11 points, WDWDW. great form tbf. again an easier set of opponents but that's good in any case.

spurs; 10 points, WWDLW. average. note that their hardest game was against us though, think they'll be disappointed not to have got 5 wins in a row really, which proves the point that EVERYONE drops points nearly all the time.

united; 8 points, LDWDW. pretty crap really, including dropping 4 points to relegation scrappers. kinda like us. yet people think that if we carry on dropping points here and there United are going to win 16 games in a row and over take us? they've barely won 2 games in a row all season.

as you can see, only city have gone the last 5 games unbeaten, and nobody's won more than 3 games. we aren't the only team to ever go through a tricky month or so and we aren't the only team to drop points.

The concern for me (which isn't shared by many others seemingly) is that we won't be able to turn a tap and the attacking football will just come flowing back when we play sides lower down the league.

People say "credit to Bournemouth" for the 0-0 and their defensive resilience but the best play they did was in the first half of that game where they passed us off the pitch. We didn't seem to go for them at all and wasted 45 minutes at home against a relegation struggler.

Similarly against Villa we didn't look like our set-up was "defence is the best form of attack" so much as "let's grind out a 1-0 here". This was against the worst side in the PL for ages.

We come back to the issue that Vardy isn't fit. For me, performances can't and won't get better until he starts running the channels again with the same intensity as before. Part of the problem is that there is no out ball for the (technically limited, Fuchs aside) defenders so every time one of them gets it it goes back to Schmeichel and gets wellied down the pitch. If Ulloa's on the pitch, he rarely wins the header so it comes straight back. If Vardy's on the pitch, he's not quick or fit enough right now to win us a cheap throw.

For this reason I think the pain of recent weeks is set to continue. They've got to stop pissing about with Vardy as well - either he's fit or he's not. We've got a great run of fixtures from mid-February and we should be focussing on getting him 100% for those. If it's match time he needs, great, but it sounds like what he really needs is some proper training and a chance to build up his explosiveness again.

As an aside (apes etc.) we've already had more scintillating attacking displays this season than we might be entitled to expect over a season so complaining does seem a bit churlish.

In all fairness, I don't give a shit that the games haven't been kind or that we could have had more but for three penalties. What bothers me is we've gone completely anti football, we no longer look interested in attacking. Still no possession but we're not even compensating that by being exciting on the break, we're just making up numbers on the pitch since Christmas. A few more games like this, and even west brom would be more interesting to watch.

One would suggest you go and watch them then.

Good god.........wtf.................people we will be playing premier league football next season wake up smell the coffee.

Let's be realistic here does anyone seriously believe our squad is good enough in it's current form to play Champions league football next season? Even the bloody Europa league will take it's toll games on a Thursday and Sunday. We then could easily slip into the relegation zone and be bottom, oh like last season. Then, you would have somthing to moan about. Funny we didn't have threads like this last season when we were shit and bottom of the table.

People should realise our teams expectations. We certainly were not expected to be where we are let's enjoy the ride and see where we might end up.

That was our bloody reserve side playing last night with two young kids in it. We lost 2 0 it wasn't four or five. We will be in the premier league next season yes, for that I am happy we have fulfilled our expectations which was to survive.

hopefully now we only have one game in the next 13 days we can sort vardy out. and buy another striker.

think we might be a bit crap vs stoke (I'll be backing 0-0) but then with an extended break and nothing to focus on bar the transfer window we will sort our shit out.

Good god. We are joint top, we have played Spuds, Man City, Liverpool. We should have won at villa missed a penalty, we should have beaten Bournemouth, we drew with Spurs in the cup away they were given a penalty that never was. We beat them in the league the game that really matters, at their place.

Nothing to moan about for gods sake. Every team has a blip we were nailed on relegation certainties in the eyes of the punditry world before a ball was kicked this season we are safe and will be playing premier league football next season.

Stop talking league position and start talking performances. We all know we've had a season so far to exceed expectation massively. That's not the point.

I think we are on a knife-edge at the moment personally. There are so many people I think, still itching to tell us that Pearson shouldn't have been sacked. The media are waiting to pounce and Saturday's game suddenly becomes a real biggie in terms of win it and the confidence returns (in all), lose it and the opposite may well happen.

Can't believe people are holding on to "difficult games" when holding on for our lives against Bournemouth (vs 11) and Villa.

Really?!? We certainly weren't 'holding in for our lives' against Bournemouth. In fact I would say quite the opposite. We had more than enough chances to put them to bed but no matter what we did we just couldn't score. I'd credit them for that as they parked the bus very successfully made life difficult and were rewarded with a bit of luck.

Villa second half we were hanging on a bit, but we should have been out of sight after the first half.

More of a case of not being clinical in front of goal and failing to convert chances rather than being battered by the opposition.

Have sales of razor blades gone up in Leicester?   Calm down.  Have the faith.   4 league points from Spurs or a cup replay win by our B team?  You decide.

Posted

I hate to bang on about but if Mahrez put his two pens away we'd be 4 points clear. Even if he scored one and missed one we'd be 2 points clear, at a time when we're playing horrid.

Losing last night might be a blessing in disguise cos we will have one free weekend next week and I'm sure we will get going again.

We've been told our supposed bubble will burst in October. Then in November. Then our supposed difficult December run. Now people are saying we will get found out in February. We keep proving them wrong and I am confident we will prove people wrong again for the 8th billionth time this season.

Spot on Mozartfox, it's not rocket science that we don't have the strength in depth that our rivals do. They've had the benefit of years of Premier League money to build it. Was there last night and it was clear Ranieri did the right thing. What would people rather we do? Risk our clearer tired first team for a lottery and possibly damage their morale further by losing? I'm hoping and praying we find our form soon, but what a season they've given us! COYB!

Posted

This is exactly what I feared would happen. Fans getting on the players backs after we have a dip in form and results. Fans getting too big for their boots. We are in 2nd place currently. Even the most die hard of fans will say that is massively punching above our weight. Don't be at all surprised if we start to drop down the table. All this talk of champions league football has gone to your heads.

Don't tell me i'm not ambitious. Of course I am but i'm also a realist. I would love nothing more than to make top 4 but I also wont slate the players if we don't make it. They have played out of their skin so far and what they have achieved has meant that we are safe this season which brings so much to the club.

Seriously enjoy the ride. Don't think about top 4 until we get to the last few games. If we lose then so be it just keep getting behind the team.

There is too much negativity when we drop points. There is still 48 points to play for which is more than our current total. A defeat isn't the end of the world at this stage. Just keep supporting the lads.
