How are you coping with this season?

I am not coping with this season because I just don't know how to go about supporting a side contesting in the Premier League title.

After the first day of the season when we were top of the league before Man City played the next day I remember a friend saying to me that I should take a photo of the table because we weren't going to be there again. I agreed. Now, heading in to February and we are still there. It really is the stuff dreams are made of.

We can't win the title, it just makes no sense (although if anyone who isn't a Leicester fan says that to me I get defensive and ask them to give me a legitimate reason why not). If any other team was in the position we are in showing the consistency and team spirit we display every week I would be saying they are favourites. But not Leicester, not our Leicester.

If we are there or thereabouts come the 1st March then who knows, maybe we can start to dream.

Pretty much this. I don't think we can win it just because we're Leicester and things like that just don't happen to us but god forbid should anyone offer the same illogical argument as to why we can't.

I think most of us are coping well, because there are two types of pressure.

 

1) Nice pressure

 

2) BAD pressure.

 

 

1) Nice pressure is finding yourself in an unexpectedly good situation. A chance of winning the premier league. everyone is more excited than stressed. And for the most part, the football is good, players are enjoying playing, the spirit in the camp is good, and even if we "fail", we havent failed at all, weve still had a monumental season weve all loved.

 

 

2) BAD pressure.....Youre scrapping at the bottom. You know you need points. But youre playing poorly and getting beaten a lot. Youre desperately clinging onto survival, as the threat of losing players looms, the threat of spending time in the division below looms. Looking at the fixture list, trying to work out where you can amass enough points to survive and knowing the club will need to be rebuilt.

 

 

Both scenario's carry pressure, one in which everyone would relish the pressure, the other where everyone is carrying a very heavy weight.

This is the longest dream I have ever had! Seriously though this is totally uncharted territory for all City fans apart from '63 when we were assisted by an awful winter other teams not playing etc albeit we had a good side. I love the fact that we have the best atmosphere in the league, that we are top playing a revolutionary system called 4-4-2!!! ,surely the big boys are going to catch on that 2 up top equals more goals? I still get keyed up for every premier game as if we were in a relegation scrap though, I guess that never leaves you.

I'm 35 and I feel the same! All those years wasted sat in front of my pc, back when it was still champ manager, all those times I took Leicester close, all those players I tried to sign, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that it would happen in real life.

I'll keep telling myself, and all those around me, that no matter what happens, this season has been great, But deep down I think we all want it so bad!

I've been wondering what the city would be like on that night if we won the league. For me it'd be bigger than England winning the World Cup.

I was immensely pissed off for not making an effort to get into town the Saturday we got promoted. It just seemed so unlikely it'd happen that weekend.

Always with the lingering thought that we're gonna fook it all up somehow but that will never go away.

I'm loving this season but as a pretty experienced Leicester fan, I'll also never shake the fear that we'll somehow shoot ourselves in the foot and it will all go wrong in usual dramatic fashion.

Why not? I've been playing them since the original on the ZX81, for the younger generation, it was a black & white, soundless home computer with a 1k memory that you could expand to a massive 16k. I'm 47 and still play them but I prefer the older ones before training schedules and tactics for each player and so on sucked all the enjoyment out of them. I just like to start at the bottom, buy & sell players, pick my team and formation, kick arse and win trophies as quickly as possible, I don't like messing about for 2 hours before I play a fixture, I want a quarter of the season done in 2 hours. I'm a realist usually but in the case of football manager games, realism can sod off.

I've tried to never really look passed the next game, like you say it's cliché, but its all about the next game and nothing else, (hopefully the players keep this attitude too)

 

But the next 3 games are massive in terms of a true title challenge, it's a shame they all come back to back really, because as fans we will think about all 3 together rather than just one at a time.

 

I just keep seeing things like Liverpools extra time and penalties the other night, Vertongen out for the rest of the season, De Bruyne being carried off on a stretcher last night and a little part of me starts thinking it's all pointing in our favour.

 

As the season goes expectations will change and the longer this continues the harder it becomes to keep grounded.

 

Whatever happens though it's a great time to be a Leicester fan right now, and this season will be long remembered.  Where ever we finish, there's a strong possibility that this will be our best ever Premier league season and that can't be ignored.

Most def loving this at the moment, although I am pretty calm inside speaking to other fans and all I am getting is massive amounts of praise for the team, they can't believe it as much as we can.

 

however I'm not shocked, I have seen us building over the last few years and I could feel something special was happening,(not winnning the league) the fact it is happening and we have built a team that fights to the very end of every game which is full of pace and quality throughout the squad.

 

Start placing those bets because its going to HAPPEN!!

I'm ecstatic this season but full of fear at the same time

 

The first 10 games were just brilliant, thinking "if we keep this up we should finish top half, which would be great", the longer it's been going on the more I'm getting ahead of myself. Thinking "we might actually make top 4" to now "if we mess up we might not make top 4"

 

It's so weird and something I'm completely not used to, naturally following a club such as ours you're far more used to missing out on success, or being overjoyed at just winning a single match by a silly scoreline or beating a club you hate. Winning the Championship was fantastic but that was always a possibility. In the Premier League there's Chelsea, Man City, Man United (and going back a bit, Arsenal). They're the ones who win it, outside of that four there are no contenders. This late into the season and us still being top and not by fluke, I'm still in disbelief.

 

Most days, I think all the time about the upcoming game with real excitement, another opportunity to assert ourselves and another chance for Arsenal and Man City to drop points. Usually it's a great feeling, but on the days after failing to beat Villa and Bournemouth I felt incredibly flat, and assured myself that those were results that might have fudged it for us. Turns out we're still very much in it. Bloody hell

If you were 'deluded' as I am (apparently) then you would of got 1500-1.

There can't be that many sets of supporters who deserve it like we do (well the majority anyway!). Always so turbulent following the foxes, but you get the sense that we are entering a relative period of success. And yes, we're not going do to this every year - but in 5/6 years time, why can't we regularly break into the top 6 or 4? Considering the money on the table from this season, we've picked the right time to have this breakthrough season.

The long term and progressive strategy at the club from top to bottom has to be applauded. Look at other similarish sized clubs - Forest, Cardiff, Leeds etc (I could go on) - all stuck in 2nd tier mediocrity in the merry-go-round that is the Championship. We know what it's like, because only a short time ago it was us - Gareth Williams, Stephen Hughes, Alan Maybury, Joe Hamill, Rab C. Douglas, Mo Sylla, Jason Jarrett, Harry Worley, Nils Eric Johannson, Alan Rogers, Elvis Hammond, the two Hungarian lads... Look how far we've come!!!

Yeah that is really weird, I can't do it. I still work upwards from 0 points rather than downwards from 3 points each game.

Having an interest in an Arsenal v Chelsea league game was surreal too.

This has definitely changed now and I'm working downwards from three points if that makes sense. It's turned into a proper title race for me (belatedly) where you just see any draw or loss as dropped points.
