Blackpool Fox 69 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Do you know something, if we don't win the League, we are well in for Champions League, pure dreamland, the stats say 70 ish I think it will be lower, after the next two we have a great chance to go on a run and I would love us to get at least one result in the next two as well, Man City and Arsenal looked bang average tonight! Here is average points for the teams finishing 1st to 4th in the last 10 seasons: 1st: 88.2 2nd: 82.7 3rd: 76.6 4th: 70.3

AKCJ Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 You'll get 4th for finishing better than 5th. It's that simple. Looking at these stats are largely irrelevant with the usual dominance of a top 4. We've only really seen two sides go dowwn to the final day needing a result to get the Champions League spot a couple of times. For instance, a side can get 70 points and get that spot, but if 5th place only got 65 points... yada yada

I certainly wouldn't. From where we are now, i'd be gutted not to get top 4. Chances like this only come round once in a lifetime potentially.

I get where you are coming from, but if we lost our next two and they won there next two, the gap is 4 points. I don't think we lose both matches, but it is possible. I hope we can pick up a point at least at city, that way, we will still be level points on top if we lose the Arsenal game. The run of 9 games after that is where we can cement our CL place and win the league. If we go on a run like the end of last season for those 9 games, I think we will be a few points clear coming in to the last 3 games.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 A few ominous signs from United recently - Rooney scoring, Mata looking decent, Van Gaal generally picking players in positions they can play. I fear they're going on a run, as are Spurs, so even though the gap to them is 10 points I'd still consider they could overhaul us. Glad to see we've got Norwich and West Brom relatively soon however, these two look awful at the moment and naturally you want to play teams while they're being crap. Hopefully Newcastle's new signings honeymoon will have finished by the time they visit us and Adebyeeorrreeeorrr! hasn't transformed Palace by the following week, as that's another side in a bit of free fall at the moment.
