Closest example of this happening in the PL is Blackburn winning the league and Norwich coming close, both fell away dramatically afterwards. You can even look at Liverpool, nearly won the league, fvcked it all up again. There is an established elite in this country and we are doing amazing to break it, but even if we win the league winning all the remaining games 10-0 at the start of next season we will be predicted to finish mid-table, European distractions and a freak season being given as reasons why, we will be expected by many to revert to what is perceived as our default position as part of the chasing pack, behind the established big 6. Footballers will think the same, this season was a freak, we will struggle with Europe and the weight of expectation, we can't repeat this form etc etc You will hear it all summer. I'm not saying nobody will come to us, but they will see Spurs, Liverpool, Everton Chelsea, United as a safer option, despite all their troubles this season. I'm not saying they are right, but little ol' Leicester will be written off as a one season wonder, and the pre-season predictions will have us 9th/10th. i think youre underestimating what we're going to be offering a great deal of players. we are going to offer them champions league football (probably) a lot of money, a pretty big name in management and if they're even remotely good first team champions league football. even if some players are going to use us as "a stepping stone" we are able to let them play (hopefully) at least 6/8 champions league games in our first team and all they need to do is be better than marc albrighton or danny simpson. it's a sensational opportunity.

We won't elevate ourselves to competing with Europa League Liverpool for players as foreigners will see us similar to they did Montpellier when they one Ligue 1 five years a go. We will probably be considered as the same level as West Ham & Everton as an attractive move for players. The problem with Montpellier is that, immediately after winning Ligue 1, they sold their best player, Olivier Giroud, who was the club's top scorer. Can't see us doing that with Vardy.

Just out of curiosity, should Leicester finish top 4 (which will happen knock on wood) what names would you fantasize / realistically expect to be joining and strengthening the Leicester squad comes next season? Had you had a different 15/16 season, the names would be slightly different i'm sure, so really just wondering what you lot expect from the board/management to bring on the table? Any particular gems you'd like to see brought in? Also, considering the name Leicester is forging itself on a national/international level, do you expect departures from some players and which ones would you let go/keep absolutely? I think I'd be happiest with more unknowns that the scouts dig up. I'd never heard of Vardy, Mahrez or Kante before they arrived, and they're our best players. Hopefully Amartey will be in this same category. Inler was the biggest name we brought in last summer, and he's been disappointing for the few appearances he's made, so to answer your question, I think I'd rather we sign more players who haven't made their name yet.

Once that's established, you then need to look to better what we have... that's not going to be easy, but a couple of handy things to keep in mind; *Hopefully James would be back, had a full pre-season and be fit and raring to go - like a new signing *IF Inler was to stay, he could have a bigger impact, especially in any European games *An extra striker would be essential - but who's to say Dodoo might not make the step up *We'd probably need 1/2 new centre backs. As good as Morgan and Huth have been, time and extra fixtures would be against them *Another keeper would be essential, but is difficult given we've got what I consider to be an excellent number 1 *We could do with finding another Magician - especially given out of our talents, I see Mahrez as the most likely to leave (and wouldn't begrudge him that either if it was to a top, top side), but equally he wouldn't be as effective over a 50/60 game season as he is at the moment - it would be unfair to shoulder all of that on him (whereas in a top, top, side, there'd be others to share that burden). As for names... Bale + Benezema (swap deal for Mahrez), get Carrick out of United, West Ham's own JT and **** it... put a bid in for Messi, he really doesn't want to go to Man City.

Obviously we'll need some replacements if we lose any big players, but the recent signings seem to be moving toward building for the future. Use this chance to bring in players who wouldn't have come otherwise. Just get 4 18-year-olds instead of yet another 29-year-old striker.

If we made the Champions League or Europe, I would be really really worried if we didn't make any big name signings. If our form or our top players' form drops next season we would get absolutely humiliated in Europe. Can you imagine if Simpson gets injured and we have De Laet against Barcelona. Even Simpson against Barcelona is scary.

I feel none of the current XI deserve to be replaced, so here's why pre season will be key.. Our shape, tactics, spirit and togetherness is already set in stone. However pre season gives each player the chance to work on their game & improve on any weaknesses, so they can compete with Europes elite.. We've seen it this season already with Simpson and others. Why not more individual improvements ready for next season? For example... Schmeichal working on commanding his box better, Ulloa his first touch, Albrighton mixing up his game, Chilwell & Gray maturing, etc. Whatever happens this season, we can't afford to switch off during Pre Season. There would still be alot of work to be done to compete on all levels next season, and I have faith this current crop of players are willing to go that extra mile. In terms of additions, I'd say 4-5 more players to strengthen the squad.

The current group of players have such a tremendous togetherness, and with this season's experience that could be key heading into the Champions League next season (hopefully). In this league when your coming up against the likes of Liverpool, Spurs, Man Utd and Chelsea & winning/being competitive against those sides, it's a very positive sign because those teams are probably near or are at the same level of quality as Champions League sides. I think like you said perhaps 4-5 additions would be sensible to bring into the club, but at the same time keeping the core squad of players together.

Pre Season has worked for us this year and we should do exactly the same.

Kind of agree with this, seems a better idea to ease the players back in @ home rather than other side of the world, as exotic as this may sound? Last season we took some holidays - brought the lads to Dubai, the aftermath proved to be an utter disaster (and we didn't even play anyone). There might be other reasons, but better safe than sorry i'd say.

4everfox Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 I think we will sign 6 in the summer. Arias from PSV Eindhoven, Dragovic from Dynamo Kiev, Musa from CSKA Moscow. A central midfielder, a left winger and a goalkeeper. If we spend 60-70 million then we're winning the Champions League.
sylofox Posted 6 February 2016 Posted 6 February 2016 think you've lost your mind if you think we're going to approach a "top" signing, offer them lots of money, champions league football and the chance to play for the champions of england and they're going to say "you might get relegated". relegation should be as far away from any of our plans as it is the plans of arsenal, city or spurs. we're as good as them on the pitch as we've shown for a year now, and we're probably as good in every area off it. bar a bigger ground and "history", which if you look at the signings some clubs are making clearly doesn't mean anything, we will be one of THE top clubs if we win the league. Have the last 18 months taught you nothing. This time last season we were bottom Chelsea were top and won the league. This season they are closer to relegation than they are to us. Would you have even thought that possible in August. Really let's finish this season before we start looking at next season.
