GaelicFox Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Yesterday's meeting of chairman of premier league clubs had a proposal to cap away tickets at £30 Arsenal spoke out against the propsal ! Everton in favour. It returns to that forum be discussed in March, Away fans need to make a stand !
Webbo Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Arsenal are paying for their stadium and they're selling out every week anyway.
Jimothy Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Arsenal are paying for their stadium and they're selling out every week anyway. Thought that was paid off, that's why in the last couple of years they've been able to spend big on Ozil and Sanchez.
Webbo Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Thought that was paid off, that's why in the last couple of years they've been able to spend big on Ozil and Sanchez. Maybe, it's not been built long but it's possible. Just because Arsenal don't want to do it theyre not stopping anyone else.
Hollism Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Maybe, it's not been built long but it's possible. Just because Arsenal don't want to do it theyre not stopping anyone else. Need 14 out of 20 to vote in favour of the change. It's not just Arsenal that are blocking it
Jon the Hat Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Unfair on home fans of Arsenal if away fans are paying half IMO. I can see why they wouldn't go for it.
Jon the Hat Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 This is all shite in my view. Clubs owe their fans fairness, not away fans. Why should away fans get half price tickets in London, and London fans pay roughly the same amount in the north? Makes no sense.
yorkie1999 Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 The rules of FFP say that the club has to basically live within its means, we all know that this doesn't happen, but what the clubs are doing is charging more and more, this gives them a higher spend. If fans don't turn up because of prices and there are empty seats or they build a stadium that never gets sold out, they can still demonstrate they have the potential to earn X amount of money for next year. They are bending the rules to our cost, knowing we will still cough up our hard earned readies.
Jimothy Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Maybe, it's not been built long but it's possible. Just because Arsenal don't want to do it theyre not stopping anyone else. It's been open 10 years this year believe it or not.
Beliall Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 It's been open 10 years this year believe it or not. Not. its all lies LIES. I am not getting older

Why should away fans get half price tickets in London, and London fans pay roughly the same amount in the north? Makes no sense. i agree with this in principle its not fair on them if they are paying £70 for a ticket when we are paying £35 for arguments sake. but the argument would be, why do the home fans have to pay £70 when the stadium is paid off and they owe no money?
m4DD0gg Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 It is a sad state of affairs but football clubs are big business now a days and their business model dictates that their prices will rise just like any other industry. There will always be a customer profile that will pay the top whack. Tickets for sporting events in the USA are upwards of $200 per ticket these days.
filbertway Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 There should be something like a cap at £25 on 50% of home allocation and all of the away allocation. It's ridiculous that the clubs are recieving all this extra cash and still maintaining such high prices.
Captain... Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Well the 13 other clubs (I'm assuming it was every prem club), should just cap it to £30 for the fixtures between themselves, then when Arsenal and whoever else come to town, whack the price up to whatever they want to charge.
Babylon Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Tickets for sporting events in the USA are upwards of $200 per ticket these days. I've paid no more than $80 in total to see the New York Yankees and Miami Heat play in recent years.... that's $80 for both!
Guest MattP Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Tickets for sporting events in the USA are upwards of $200 per ticket these days. I paid $48 to watch the San Francisco 49ers and about $60 to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers just a couple of years back.

Maybe if you sit behind first base at the Yankees. I've sat in the Bleachers a couple of times for $25.
Guest Papasmurf Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Does it have to be unanimous for it to go through?
TiffToff88 Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 This is a debate that's been going on for years now. But the way i see it, as long as fans keep paying the extortionate prices, they'll keep charging it. The only way to get the big clubs to understand how the fans really feel is by mass boycotting of games, but that will never happen. There will never be a price cap because they know that people will pay whatever price they ask for.
Guest BlueBrett Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Need 14 out of 20 to vote in favour of the change. It's not just Arsenal that are blocking it So only one needs to change their mind from this latest vote?
ramboacdc Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 So only one needs to change their mind from this latest vote? if you think about it you can figure out who would block it Arsenal for the prices they are currently getting people to pay (£100 a game ticket anyone?) Liverpool £77 in their new upper stand (SoS walkout planned this weekend) Chelsea got to make money back they have lost in players man city got to charge well for the amount of people they get through the door man u still trying to restructure their debt spurs north london, will follow arsenals suit west ham may have offered cheap season tickets for the olympic stadium but the move is still costing them more!
TiffToff88 Posted 5 February 2016 Posted 5 February 2016 Maybe the 14 clubs in favor of the cap could share an agreement with each other on ticket prices, they could implement the cap when playing against eachother, but set prices higher for those who opposed the move? Its probably a bit childish but it may force the fans of the opposed clubs to pressure their own clubs into agreeing with the cap. Not sure how it would work if it was a closed ballot and there's no definitive way of proving which 7 clubs opposed the move, but just a thought...
