Bazly Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 I was very critical of Kasper in the early games of the season but I have noticed, and I wonder if anyone else has, the subtle but critical difference to our defensive stance. If you go over the first 15 games Schmeichel was rooted to the line. From that position there is only one thing to do - save or get beat. Now he has moved and stays 2 yards off the line. This change has been essentially where the clean sheet run has come from. Schmeical can now go forward, go back, punch, catch or save. His positioning has also moved the back line up from 12 yards out to just inside the box giving everyone more time to react and a closer link to the midfield support. You won't get me criticising Schmeicel now he has adopted a more assertive and useful line in front of his goal. It was an essential transition that has made a massive difference.
filbertstreet Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 him and the back four have been bloody brilliant
BrummieFOX Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 Interesting observation. I'll check it out next game.
Vlad the Fox Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 There's a lot of changes going on all over the pitch. People say Ranieri hasn't changed much and just kept things going need to look at how we were playing at the end of last season and now too see its massive, even Shinji's role seems to have changed in the last few weeks enhancing his performance. Claudio took what Pearson did and as slowly developed bit by bit.

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 We are very lucky to have Kasper in my opinion. He does make some outstanding saves and he's got a fantastic back four in front of him.
Guest Col city fan Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 him and the back four have been bloody brilliant Not only the back five. The TEAM defend better now. Having Kante in front of the back four makes a huge difference and we now have full backs that stay put. They don't need to bomb forward, stay in position and simply defend. Tactically, Ranieri is streets ahead of Pearson. The whole team is much tighter defensively, whilst quicker getting forward. And I wouldn't swap this central midfield for any in the division.
KarlosSK4-LCFC4-ever! Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 Albrighton is integral to our defence! He does a lot of defense work and always plays the ball over top thats creates instant problems for the opposition! Yet he seems to get a lot of stick

Somehow the stats don't make sense for us, apart from the most important ones, goals and points.
davieG Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 I was just about to move this to Genersl Chat as I thought it was going to be a personal issue
Bamba's Babes Posted 8 February 2016 Posted 8 February 2016 Poor on crosses and distribution is awful. Great shot stopper. I think he can be improved upon.
TJB-fox Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 Poor on crosses and distribution is awful. Great shot stopper. I think he can be improved upon. Improved vastly on crosses in recent weeks. I think when slating Kasper (not saying this applies here necessarily) people are quick to criticise his aerial ability. That's sort of the token abuse, like King going missing or Dyers final ball etc etc. Fair enough that is because they were all poor at that and yes KS's biggest fault is/was his aerial ability but he is certainly improving that aspect of his game. His distribution is a tricky one. The quick kicks and specific diagonals he tries 9 times out of 10 don't work , but he can do that 1 kick that leads to a goal. So youve got to decide personally wether you think it's worth it or not, at this point I'd probably say it is.
ozleicester Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 My sheets have been filthy all year... after the Man city game they are positively cardboard. Positional.. I find if you lean over the edge of the mattress = clean sheets

I really really apologise for this..........but you edited that post and still found 3 ways to spell Kasper's surname? I'm tempted to think it's epic fishing.
MC Prussian Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 The number of Man Utd fans who can't wrap their heads around their team not being included in a top 4 analysis. But those are (judging by their names) African and Arab "fans". And it appears they didn't really read the article at all. Foreign fanboys.

Apart from that and a couple of kicks, he was majestic
Nod.E Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 Never mind pass accuracy. Let's see the stats on average distance covered on long kicks. Times Kasper's kicks have gone to the opposition fullback who has headed out of play, allowing us to regroup and put us on the attack.
M0901 Posted 9 February 2016 Posted 9 February 2016 I don't know a goalkeeper with a LONGER kick than Kasper, which works to our advantage in many ways He's a top 'keeper in my estimation, and as everyone says he has improved aspects of his game
