I saw an advert online for a product called "nanosparkle", allegedly removes scratches from your car.  Sounds too good to be true.  Does anyone know anything about it?

I'd imagine all of these types of products are just a wax with a small amount of cutting compound in them, and are overpriced to boot.

Easier just to buy a cutting compound like G630 off Amazon and buff the scratch out yourself then give it a proper polish or wax afterwards. That's what I do and it works well as long as the scratches aren't too deep.

Edit - Just seen it's some kind of cloth. Gimmick for sure and will likely only work on the lightest of scratches. Which would easily buff out any way.

Really like the look of the new facelift Polo GTI. Want a sporty hatchback for a couple of years that wont cost a fortune to run before starting a family and moving to a larger family car. Did you ever buy one @tom27111? Seem to remember you mentioning them a few times on here

I didn't get one. My stepdaughter has got a 2017 model and they really are great fun.

I'd highly recommend them, definitely a one of the best cars in its category and is much better than something like the Fiesta ST.

If you get the chance, test drive a Fiesta ST too.

I bought a 2019 ST3 a couple of years ago and I love it. Great fun to drive and always leaves me with a smile.

Used, absolutely, some really good value to be had, but new, you'll massively regret it financially.

I'm yet to see anyone who bought a new EV have equity in their car. £6000 is the least negative equity I've seen.

The only way you'll get out of a PCP deal on one is to go full term, hand it back to the bank and start again.

Ours is worth more than we paid for it.....

Tempting to have an accident!!

£190 road tax for electric cars as of next year, another scam!

Diesel car running until it dies then 👍

In march redo your road tax day then you get a year free

I reset both my cars in march last year so when it's due in march next year I'll get 11 months at the current rate. Ie £0

Has anybody bought a repaired category S car? We need a new car and I found what seemed to be bargain earlier.. I wondered why it was around £5k cheaper than I'd expect for its make/model/year/mileage, then I saw that it was a category S but has been 'fully repaired' (according to the dealer anyway) and just passed its MOT. I can't decide whether it's a bargain I should explore or just too much of a risk. Interested in anybody else's experiences...

Yes. Had a couple over the years. Last one was a 2015 Mini Cooper sd bought in 2018 for my daughter, saved about 4k on list price and she still has it now. Never missed a beat, cost me a couple of tyres and a bulb in six years.
Having said that, it’s always a risk, I would take a mechanic when you view it or get an AA check. I’ve heard of insurance being loaded but my daughters never seemed bad.

I bought a cat N privately last year and I've just spend over 1.7k fixing the engine over the course of 3 months cos the bastards bodged it and got rid. Spent all the savings on the price on fixing it. Still, got a nice car now. But any used car is a risk. Missus bought a mini from a "reputable" dealer and the head gasket was gone on it, didn't realise before the 6 month warranty expired as she bought it whilst still doing her lessons, so that got scrapped.

How old was the mini? That's sickening...

Personally, I'd never buy a Cat S car but as @jgtuksays, sometimes you can get lucky.

If I was in your shoes, I'd want to see the pictures of the car after the accident before deciding. Cat S means it was structural damage so that would put me off (Cat N not so much)

I'd also want to know who it was 'fully repaired' by and ask for copies of the invoices and work they did.

Unless the repairs were minor and done by a main dealer of the brand or an authorized specialist independent, I'd steer clear.

You're correct, definitely get receipts for parts and work carried out and photos of the accident damage, I forgot to mention this earlier and I did this with the cars and a couple of bikes I've bought. I'm also very familiar with working on cars, bikes, trucks, tractors etc. so fairly confident to make a judgement on whether I part with my hard earned.

Normally, it's not an engine issue with cat S/N vehicles, more running gear, chassis and panels.

I'd do it again if I needed to and found the right vehicle but there are lots of unscrupulous peeps out there and lots of dodgy cars for sale.

It was a 2010 diesel, was about 6 years ago so not remotely new but advertised with low mileage (35k) and 1 owner from new. They clearly knew it had the problem as when we finally started using it, we noticed the coolant tank had the lid off and placed under the bonnet from when it was delivered, and we had the engine flushed and there was what my mechanic said was head gasket sealant in the system. Pretty quickly noticed something was up, got it tested at a specialist who confirmed head gasket. The place we bought it from would do absolutely nothing to help. She was always a very nervous driver, whilst learning and after, and that piece of shit absolutely wrecked her confidence to this day. Left them an absolutely atrocious review which they were not happy with.
