@Izzy surely you've considered an Alfa over the Jag?

And I'm local to you!

I think you need a new motor, you can only polish it so much, you're running out of microns lol

Heated windscreen? Or just a very fancy one? lol

Not heated!!..

But seemingly all the trims need replacing when fitting a new screen and needs calibrating because of the lane departure camera system!!...

Bonkers!

See, that is why you get a car like mine with none of this fancy stuff :thumbup:lol

Just popped into the Skoda dealership to look at the new Electric Enyaq iv.

There was a gap on the showroom floor where it should be The floor was marked out for it and they had the electric charging point and the info stand.

I asked the sales chap and was told that they don't have one.

I asked when it was available to buy one and was told the lead time was at least 48 weeks.

Wtf is the point of launching a car that you can't view and can't buy for a year    :dunno:

48 weeks? That's the longest I've heard for any car. The guy round the corner who's got one (and it's the only one I've ever seen) did well to get his.

Did they tell you what the lead time was for any of their other cars, out of interest?

No, I didn't ask.

So they are available, then? I was interested in the Sportline 80, so maybe it's just that model that has such a long lead time (?).

I don't even particularly want a Skoda, but it's annoying to be told that I can't have one!

I'm not sure when they came out, but I thought it was quite recently so I assume that he didn't wait long at all for his, but like I said it's literally the only one I've ever seen.

The write ups have been so good that demand must be really high.

I think the lead time for all Skodas must be really long. The newest Octavia has been out quite a while now but I've only ever seen about 3 of those and that's a really popular car

I have the Superb Sportline Estate.

Seat, part of the same group, are struggling too.

It's again due to the chip shortage. Some of these cars have over 5000 chips in them.

I work multi-franchise, we have 8 brands at my site, I'm primarily based with Fiat, Jeep and Alfa Romeo, but we have Hyundai on site that I can sort you a deal out on if any of their electric range takes your fancy.

Thanks mate.

I took the Ioniq5 out for a spin, but a bit too small for my needs.

That would be the biggest EV I'd be able to help with.

They look a smart bit of kit, but I haven't driven one yet.

I know production in a lot of factories has just completely stopped at the minute.

Most manufacturers are concentrating on the popular cars to shift units, Seat Ibiza and Leon lead time is around 16 weeks. Any other model is at least 28 weeks.

Jeep have stopped the Renegade and Wrangler, Alfa have stopped the Stelvio.

Peugeot have stopped anything commercial and the 5008 is probably 42 weeks, they're concentrating on the 208 and 2008 with occasional production of the 3008.

Manufacturers are pulling their hair out, they HAVE to produce and sell a certain amount of EV's and Hybrids to meet emissions targets, but they're the cars that contain the most superchips.

It's an unprecedented and impossible situation.

You might notice little spec changes too on the most updated specs. They're trying to scrimp on chips, so your phone charging plates, heated seats and front parking sensors might have disappeared from the standard spec and some makers have even completely halted optional extras, just so they can get basic units out the factory.

@The Bear what’s your review after having now had one for a while?

any others got one? Hopefully getting the “long Range” version but not the performance

Tesla's look absolutely crap...sure it was modelled on the Chrysler Neon.

I actually think Tesla's look really dated when you see them on the road.

On the inside, they're far from dated, possibly too far the other way!

But I'm please someone else isn't a fan of their looks. Most people swoon over them and I don't understand why.

Things like that are subjective though. You only need to read the 'Birds you fancy off the TV' thread on here to sum that up lol

I'm not doubting that they're an incredible piece of engineering, basically the performance of a supercar at a more affordable price.

I went in the other day and asked about it, just out of curiosity. The salesman said anything between 6 and 12 months on nearly all new cars. Some people are just happy to wait, others are buying up all the used stock like crazy. It's the main reason I got a good deal on getting out of my PCP before even getting halfway through the term. Normally there is a massive shortfall but the dealer was happy to pay it off.

Never been a better time to buy a new car.

If you're on a PCP, even an HP, chances are you're in equity. Decent equity.

The price of new cars hasn't risen in line with used cars, so if you're happy to wait, order one.

The market is unlikely to crash for a good while, so while you wait for your new car to be built and continue to pay your current contract, your settlement will be going down and offsetting any depreciation on your car in regards to the trade in valuation you've been given by the dealer.

In some circumstances, you'll actually be better off in 6 months whilst the new car is built. Your settlement will have gone down more than the value of your part exchange.

Still loving it. There are minor annoyances as with any car, but the overall experience completely outweighs any negatives. Great to drive, nice and comfortable, superb sound system, amazing Autopilot system, almost impossible to steal.

I have the LR too, it's the best version to get as you can buy the Acceleration Boost for £1.5k if you want to get closer to the Performance 0-60 times.

Anything you want to know just message me. There's also a UK section on https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/forums/the-uk-and-ireland.114/ which is a treasure trove of info.

I'm not a massive fan of the front styling with it's slightly weird sloping shape around the headlights, but the sides and rear look great to me.

That's a fair assessment.

EV's still look slightly odd without the traditional front grill to me.

They have improved massively in the last few years though.

In my opinion, cars look better with a traditional grill, maybe because that's what I'm used to, but it is more aesthetically pleasing and looks more natural.

The electric Mini looks hideous, especially with those wheels. And the colour scheme. Just why?

It's almost as if EV designers are trying too hard to make them look different. Don't.
