Roughly a tenner a year, so from £155 to £165. (There are variables and it's not quite that simple, but the majority will be)

Also depends on how new the car is and what it's official list price was when sold new.

I think for the first 3 or 4 years, if the car retailed for more than 40k, you'll pay close to £600 a year. After the first few years, it drops to standard rate.

If you buy a car that was registered before 1st April 2017, the tax is dirt cheap on won't be changing. On Diesel cars that are registered before that date, your tax will be between £0 and £30.

Nice one mate! That's not bad at all. Car I'm looking at is a 14 plate so should be good.

How big is the Q4 etron - big enough for a family? I like the look of it but haven't seen one in the flesh.

I've driven an I - pace, like sh*t off a shovel but just felt a bit weird.

Similar feelings on badge snobbery

I got the Ioniq 5 in November and I'm delighted with it. My first EV, but definitely my favourite car I've had, and I've been lucky enough to have had some good 'premium' cars in the past.

I was hesitant re: the badge, but it just feels as good as a Merc or BMW inside (not had an Audi so can't comment on that). Plus, to my eyes, looks like nothing else on the road. I'm in Leeds and I've only seen 2 out on the road since November.

If you get a chance give one a test drive. The passenger space is fantastic, infotainment system is great and the range is decent too. I get around 3 miles/kWh, so around 220 miles between charges which is decent in the cold.

The Q4 etron was fine, felt a bit bigger than the EV6, it's probably about the same width and length, but you sit higher up, which I like.

But my view on Audi's has always been that you pay about £10k too much for what they are, and this is exactly the same. I think for any decent spec you'd be looking at about £50k. Which is a lot.

My nephew and my brother in law have both just ordered one, oddly enough. They've both gone for the Sport, which is fine, but a tad basic.

Honestly, if you stuck a premier badge on the Kia it'd be a no brainer.

Also, re the badge snobbery, I suppose it's maybe what stage of life you're at. I've feel I've probably done my boy racing thing and my driving round in a big showy-off thing and now maybe it's ok for me to have something a bit more normal.

(But....I'm still a little afraid that I might not feel that way when I've swapped my current car for an electric Kia)     lol

It will be a company car so not to fussed about the cost - the BIK is so low, 2% on list price x your tax rate, its like £50 a month tops.....need to get out and test drive!

love that Car. reminds me of a Retro Lancia or Alfa Romeo.

We are considering that or the EV6 as our next car in OCtober.

I've had to cover in Renault/Dacia since Sunday due to staff shortage and a few cases if covid.

They're absolutely flying out. Never sold so many cars in 4 days lol

I assume no word yet on the Spring?

I'm moving to Renault permanently in a couple of weeks.

Which means I need to learn another product and there's loads of Renault models!

Sorry @FoxesDeb, first Peugeot, then Fiat...

Also means my chance of a company Alfa Romeo is out of the window. We've got a lovely Megane RS Trophy demo in though! Not sure the quoted 28mpg will suit my 70 mile daily round trip lol

I was given the option, but there's a much wider range of vehicles at Renault and more opportunities for sales than at Fiat. Tough decision because I really like the people I work with in Fiat, but got to think of the earning potential.

Can still sort anyone out with all the brands at my site though if interested. We're multi-franchise... Renault, Dacia, Fiat, Jeep, Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Hyundai and Seat.

Ah it's been good hearing about the Alfas while it's lasted!

Our current car is a Captur, and the car I had in the UK was a Clio. It was 3 years old with 6k miles on the clock, still like a brand new car and I was sad to see it go. I love the Captur too though, it's identical apart from a bit taller lol

Good luck :)

I might not be going to Renault.

An opportunity has arisen to be the Alfa Romeo specialist and I've been offered it!

I'm currently negotiating to have the plug in hybrid Tonale as my company car as soon as it arrives in the country!

How exciting!! Are you going to take it?

You'd be absolutely mad to turn down the Tonale, I'm very envious

I need pics once it arrives, and a test drive when I'm back in the UK

Congratulations 😊

Yeah, I'm taking it. Same people I work with although different brands, all have the same owner.

Still trying to get in the Giulia Veloce until the Tonale actually comes out.

What are the best hybrid cars? I’m thinking about my next one and as it will be a company car I want a hybrid to lessen the tax. A fully electric is not an option with my job.

Depends on your mileage and if you pay for your own fuel.

Company car tax might be worth taking a hit on and going for a diesel to keep the fuel costs down.

If you're doing a short commute and no long journeys, a hybrid could work for you.

But if you're doing regular trips over 70 miles, I'd steer clear.

I'm currently in a hybrid. 35 miles to work, 35 back. I charge at work and at home, so I'd say around 70% of my commute is fully electric and I get 73mpg.

But the trip up to Anfield last week killed me. The average mpg dropped from 73 to 46, just on that 1 journey alone.

You're lugging around a heavy battery on the petrol when you run out of electric range.

I cover the country for my job so a week could involve hardly any miles or 1000. So you reckon just avoid electric?

Full electric could be beneficial if you have something long range and plan your journeys carefully, taking in to account quick charging, but I wouldn't touch hybrid in those circumstances. You'd be much worse off on fuel consumption.

Diesel cars still have such a stigma around them. I honestly don't know why. A modern Diesel engine, almost all of which nowadays comply with ULEZ regulations, are so clean and efficient.

If you can do a thousand miles in a week, Diesel is the only way to go for economy.

The amount of customers I see who are petrified of Diesel is ridiculous. They talk like they won't exist in a couple of years!

Whatever the governments of the world do in regards to banning the internal combustion engine, I can guarantee you it will outlive every single one of us.

Avoid hybrid wherever possible with your mileage needs.

With that sort of range needs I wouldn't be going electric just yet. The infrastructure isn't quite there yet unless you got a charger installed at home. Otherwise you'd be rapid charging most days and during peak hours you can sometimes get queues at chargers.
