Got another new demo car from work. Looks like this is my long term one, which is fine, until I can have an Alfa Romeo!

I'm in a Jeep Renegade Limited 1.3 PHEV.

I actually really like it. Decent spec and I can precondition it on an app if it's frosty in the mornings.

I do 35 miles to work and obviously the same back. Charge it overnight at home and when I get to work.

I'm doing bang on 70mpg.

The new Alfa Romeo is launched in a week or 2, a PHEV compact SUV, competing with the likes of a Merc GLA.

Really want one of them next.

Funnily enough I was just saying the other day that Alfa should do an SUV smaller than the Stelvio, and here it is! I've just Googled it and it's stunning

I've only just seen they've stopped both the Giulietta and the Mito too.

Stopped those quite a while ago I think, but the Tonale looks awesome.

It's based on a Jeep Renegade, but it'll be better, that's why there's been such a long delay in production.

Only a 1.3 turbo, but expecting about 240bhp from it.

I believe we can export to Spain

We sold this today.

Genuinely one of the most beautiful vehicles I've ever seen.

Cloverleaf Giulia, 510bhp

The colour is stunning.

I should add, apart from the Mercedes C63, it's the best sounding car I've ever heard.

I'm coming round to EV's, but the sound of a roaring V6

You can see the screen price.

We did it 75k cash, including a 4 year service plan.

It's absolutely stunning.

I've been privileged enough to drive an M3, an M4, a C63 Merc, an Audi S5...don't get me wrong, they're incredible and probably a more sensible purchase, but this is raw and thrilling to drive.

I love that front end :wub:but that’s massively out of my price range at the minute. One can dream eh?

You can get a Giulia Volace for 40k brand new, which is still a good drive as a 2 litre 280bhp.

But the Quadrofilio is bordering on supercar.

We do have a genuine Alfa supercar available, same shape, back seats stripped out, about £130k lol

If you've got that sort of money, I'd go a touch more and have an Aston.

I'm trying to work my way up to an Aston Martin salesman. I reckon your target would be 2 a year.

Miss the target by 1 and your commission would still be alright.

Mainly want that job for the company car lol

When you make it all the way to the top, and realise it’s shit. Then start selling commercial vehicles. Hit me up lol

Seriously though, do you not do any work on the side? Trade some cars, you must be building decent contacts.

I went on a track day at Silverstone a few years ago and got to drive an Aston round the track. Well part of it, they make it into a smaller lap.

It was amazing!

I know a lot about cars now, never ever been a car person, all I cared about was football, proper statto.

Some people live for cars and can quote you the bhp on anything from a Toyota Aygo to a Bugatti Veyron.

I just know what I need to know.

Trading would be alright if you had 20k to start doing it. Yes, I have contacts, but that's tough.

Every place I've worked have taken a hit on cars, massively. And that's after they've put them through prep, because they have the infrastructure to.

Car salesman don't have good reputations anyway, but I'd hate to buy a real dodgy motor and sell it on, just wouldn't sit right with me. Trading is too much of a risk.

I prefer having a company behind me and being honest. I come from a pub background, it's literally talking to people and helping them out. I'm good at that.

And the more modern ones, wow.

I'm jealous!

Do you watch Jay Leno's Garage on YouTube? Aston Martin have remanufactured 25 of the original James Bond DB5 with all the gadgets :D

Only $3million a pop :o

Recommendation for an EV....anyone driven/got an e-tron? Dont like Teslas!

I've been test driving a few over the past 12 months.

I took the Q4 e-tron out last week. It was ok.

I've also test driven the I-Pace (ok), the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (good) and the Kia EV6 (really good). The Skoda Enyaq 80 trim looks good, but there doesn't seem to be any about to have a spin in, and if you buy one now you'll have to wait a year for delivery.

The biggest hurdle for me to overcome (which I've mentioned before) is badge snobbery, which is stupid, and space concerns. Kia EV6 seems to be the standout electric car at the moment.

Badge wise, the Jag I-Pace or maybe the Q4 e-tron would be preferred, but honestly they are not really a patch on the EV6 imo.

I've just got the sums through this morning from my local Kia dealer to buy one - I'm kind of 90% sold on it, but still keeping an eye out in what is such a fast moving market.

What about the Citroen Ami, with its two identical doors (one opening forwards) and its identical front and rear (apart from the colour of its lights)?

Anyone know by how much the road tax on diesel cars will increase by? Thinking of buying one at the moment and someone mentioned road tax increasing especially for diesels.

How big is the Q4 etron - big enough for a family? I like the look of it but haven't seen one in the flesh.

I've driven an I - pace, like sh*t off a shovel but just felt a bit weird.

Similar feelings on badge snobbery

Roughly a tenner a year, so from £155 to £165. (There are variables and it's not quite that simple, but the majority will be)

Also depends on how new the car is and what it's official list price was when sold new.

I think for the first 3 or 4 years, if the car retailed for more than 40k, you'll pay close to £600 a year. After the first few years, it drops to standard rate.

If you buy a car that was registered before 1st April 2017, the tax is dirt cheap on won't be changing. On Diesel cars that are registered before that date, your tax will be between £0 and £30.
