Izzy Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 fcuk me, he is a center half, suppose to stop goals, not set um up, we have other players for that. They are both as good as anyone this season, all parts of the team are why we are top, not some I agree. Still don't think Wes would be selected for the England squad if he was English though.
Guest ttfn Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Big statement! I need to give that some thought.... Why though? I mean I appreciate everything Walsh and Taggart did but with 7 games to go we've got 20% more points than we ever got with either of those 2 at the back. All of the players we've got now would sit comfortably in the top 25 of the last 20 years. I know everyone has their favourites from when we were poor but right now we've got 3 elite players and at least another 8 who compare with anything Leicester have had in recent times.
Foxxed Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 Didn't he get into the Jamaica squad through his gran? He could have chosen England. I think it was wise he didn't though. It seems his international experience--which he wouldn't have got in the England squad--has helped him enormously this season. Wonderful to hear about his story in that Guardian article: fits in perfectly with the Leicester's story. And you can't really discount how important he's been in building such fantastic team spirit and attitude.
filbertway Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 They've been fantastic for us. I think a lot of it is down to Ranieri putting no pressure on them to be footballers. I don't know another team in this league that is so comfortable just lumping the ball out of play. Huth can have about 10 yards of space and look in no danger, he knows he's pretty awful at football so just smashes it as far as he can. Everyone of our players is performing to the best of their abilities and that's because Ranieri gives them the license to play how they feel comfortable.

As much as I loved MON's side, you've got to say now most of these players are better. Schmeichel is better than Flowers and Keller. Fuchs and Simpson are better than Kaamark. Morgan and Huth are better than Elliott and Walsh. Albrighton is better than Guppy. Kante and Drinkwater are better than Izzet and Lennon. Mahrez and Vardy are better than Heskey or Cottee. That's not to say I don't still appreciate everything those other players did for us and don't still love them all. But let's be realistic, it's easy to remember the good games of older players while it's also easier to remember the bad games the current players had, but those bad games will be forgotten in time and these players are at a different level to that side, if only because of consistency.
WesMorganGod Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Wes Morgan, best CB in the league. God bless you
WesMorganGod Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Morgan is the best defender ever, I don't mean in just Leicester FC history, I mean in all of europe! he is the best ever, I don't know why people can't see this. He is not worth 500 Million, 1 Billion. If we ever lost Morgan then we would crumble so badly, people will see the truth then. Lets just pray he retires with us.. he is God
WesMorganGod Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 The thing about Morgan is its not just what you see on the pitch, thats only a little glimpse. Behind the scenes Morgan is a HUGE leader, all the players follow him and respect him greatly, he has more say than Pearson or Ranieri ever has. If you ever want to praise the togetherness and spirirt in our squad then you can't only compliment ranieri or the coaches, you have to compliment Morgan greatly too. If you think back to when we signed him in 2012.. its all been up-hill ever since that moment, the day we brought Wes was the day our club changed forever.. and on the verge now of the biggest feat in the clubs history, and he is 80% of the reason.
bovril Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Exactly. As much as I loved MON's side, you've got to say now most of these players are better. Schmeichel is better than Flowers and Keller. Maybe I'm clinging to the past but I'm still not sure about this. Guppy for sure would be dynamite in this team. You're probably right about the two central midfielders, but again I reckon they'd fit into the current XI perfectly. One thing I agree with is the defence. For some reason that O'Neill team had a reputation for 'solid defence' but we were actually pretty average at the back. Oh and I still think Flowers is the best keeper I've seen at Leicester. It took me a while to accept it but for sure this side is way better than the 99/00 one. But we had some brilliant individuals back then in a very good era for the Premier League.
ScouseFox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 defenders who defend. ive been in the pub all night saying either is better than john stones. got laughed at of course but i know who id rather have 10000%
Hack Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 They have been the foundation of everything we have done. Also, old fashion 4-4-2 and the form of Simpson and Fuchs has helped make Huth and Morgan's job easier. The planning to have our CB play deep and just get rid of the ball and attackers in anyway they can with the discipline of the rest of the team to retreat and offer cover just makes our CB's very hard to beat. CR also deserves great credit for the form of Huth and Morgan.
The Doctor Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 fcuk me, he is a center half, suppose to stop goals, not set um up, we have other players for that. They are both as good as anyone this season, all parts of the team are why we are top, not some Have you not watched england lately? Positively Spurs-like: achieving eighty passes between the defenders and goal keeper is more important than clean sheets, likewise midfielders retaining possession for a bit is more important than a goal. It's why stones is England's best defender - his positional sense, intelligence and defensive capability might be nonexistent but he an sort of pass the ball.
TJB-fox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 defenders who defend. ive been in the pub all night saying either is better than john stones. got laughed at of course but i know who id rather have 10000%Story of my life mate. Keep telling people how good our fullbacks are and how good Kante is and I just get laughed at by glory hunting fans who have seen us play 3/4 times, ever!!
Guest ttfn Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Imagine thinking that somebody who can't get into the Everton defence is better than Big Wes.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I questioned Wes being captain at the start of the season but he has, well and truly, proved me wrong. He was immense today. Didn't give anyone a sniff down the middle. Ditto.
ScouseFox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Imagine thinking that somebody who can't get into the Everton defence is better than Big Wes. I know right big wes even bosses it when he runs out from the back reckon he does step overs better than stones too
Flyfox Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Our back 4 look unbeatable at times. I'll be first to admit, I didn't rate Morgan when he signed from Forest, he seems like a different player altogether now. Simpson also deserves a lot of credit, since his run in with the law he seems to have upped his game significantly. Aside from crediting the players, the coaching staff and sports science dept deserve heaps of credit for recognising and exploiting the full potential of players whom, in all honesty, I would, and did, refer to as 'average'.
UPinCarolina Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Wes Morgan is even covering ground offensively, on occasion. Hard to believe.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I love it when Big Wes goes on one of his rare mazy runs. I reckon he says to Huth "watch this mate I'm gonna do a bit of football" then skips past a few people then Huth owes him a tenner
Koke Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 The Bouncers. I like that. I love them both especially Morgan who have improved and adapted to the Premier League. Huth at least played in this league most of his career so he knows his way around. Also have you noticed Morgan never gets injured? He's played every minute of this season and played 37 games last season. His fitness is outstanding. That said, and I don't wanna put a damper on the mood here, but we can't go into the Champions League with these 2 as first choice CBs. We need at least one CB who's comfortable on the ball and can pass it (and can defend).
filbertway Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 defenders who defend. ive been in the pub all night saying either is better than john stones. got laughed at of course but i know who id rather have 10000% Stones would probably look a million times better under Ranieri than Martinez to be fair. Imagine if it was reversed and Huth had to play for Martinez, he'd be laughed out of the premier league.
treer Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 I love it when Big Wes goes on one of his rare mazy runs. I reckon he says to Huth "watch this mate I'm gonna do a bit of football" then skips past a few people then Huth owes him a tenner brilliant!!!!!!!
Wolfox Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 Wes Morgan, best CB in the league. I get why you've said that... He's not the best centre back in the league, but, he's probably, on current form, the most effective... Being the most effective will do me! Huth is a close second and certainly brings out the best in Wes Unsung hero of our defence is Simposin - defensively he's the best in the league at the moment and has been consistently effective for months
Oxfordfox83 Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 Yeah he's no longer a competent centre-half because he made one rash challenge against Arsenal (which would've been forgotten had it not gone in) As a right back...
