foxfanazer Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 With the phenomenal things the players are doing this season and the worldwide support and recognition we are receiving I think this song has never been more appropriate. The atmosphere has been very good this season but I just think we're missing our own 'anthem' If we could belt this out home and away and please for the love of god slow it down I think it would sound immense.
GaelicFox Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 I'm shocked at how many people can't sing it properly ! I agree with the right tempo it could be emence

Sung slowly in SK1 several times every game. Weird how it's become a lost song to most of our support. People giving it all the "it doesn't sound like an anthem" crap can do one too, it's no more or less complicated to sing than many clubs' anthems, and they manage to properly belt theirs out every week.

Benguin Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 Until it's played to sing along it'll never get done right. People get to excited and step up the speed to much.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 As Voll said, it gets sung at the start of each half in SK1, often more than that as well, at a decent tempo. People just don't seem that into it which is a shame, it could be as good as Keep Right On or Blue Moon if everyone got involved.
Livid Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 It's our song unfortunately I think it's dying out. I heard SK1 singing it during the last home game but there was very little take up around me in the border of SK2/3. It really could be a classic but as a whole it's not being embraced.
The_77 Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 I agree, I think it would sound great if more people sang this at a slower tempo. It seems like a lot of people don't really know the words to the song. After "when you're laughing," there's a lot of mumbling to get through the next few lines. Perhaps it'd be worth trying to get the club to print the lyrics on one game's clap banners?

boots60 Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 For the past 40 odd years the tempo of the song has increased so much it is now a race to get it sung. With such a good anthem as this we ought to make some sort of effort to slow it down. not Jersey Budd style but considerably slower than sung at present.
I blame Wellens Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 Been talked about so many times on this forum. But the fact remains that it's a classic and ours. Come on eveveryone L block, sk1 and even P block in the family stand ( yes there are still 100 of us standing and singing there) While we are on the subject of getting things going. I would just like to remind everyone to being their inflatables (no not those type) for the last home game against Everton. Can any of you beat the inflatable footballs, mobile phones and T-Rex in P block last year?
foxfanazer Posted 29 March 2016 Author Posted 29 March 2016 It could be spine tingling good if done right
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 Echoing what others have said really, if we all sung this song as one and at the correct speed, it has the potential to sound incredible at both home and away matches. It could sound as good as KRO at Birmingham, and with time it's not impossible.
Merging Cultures Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 I never hear it on TV. Belt it out a bit more.
GlennyFox55 Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 If we could get it to anything like keep right it on it would be amazing. Just a bit of exposure by the club on social media and in the ground would help massively. Deciding on a version of it and having that play on the external speakers/in the concourse w ould help as well.
steveherbe Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 We sing it fast cos we have so many songs to get through. Have you seen our songbook, it's bloody war and peace!
stevelcfc Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 I think the club should play it before the game (not the Jersey Budd version, obviously) instead of hey Jude, get it sung properly and at a tempo everyone can cope with and so that it would actually be audible to others and tv.
AyewJoking Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 anyone printed off flyers with the lyrics and handed them out at games? someone write to the owners (not the club) with the lyrics and ask them to distribute them somehow at the match? not that i go to the games mind, im just an idea's man.
Jimbo Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 I think we should swap the family stand with the kop too The only way it'll ever take off is if a number of smaller groups dotted around the stadium start singing it. The people who usually want it sung more at the games are usually the ones who hear it being sung but never join in, then post comments about it hoping someone else has the balls to start singing it near them next time because they're too scared to stand and sing on their own If I'm correct then this actual song started in pubs before games. Next time you're with your mates in the boozer before the match start a chant. Carry it with you to the ground and sing it there too.
Freesolo Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 I used to love that song at Filbert St in the Kop mid 90s usually just before the game almost everyone who sung would sing it so over a thousand fans chanting their heart out. I will admit there is one song I could never pick up and still to this day don't know it fully because it was a fast song, I wasn't taught them by my dad i just learned them by ear, but the "we beat the Sunderland & Arsenal..........." hadn't a clue
SemperEadem Posted 29 March 2016 Posted 29 March 2016 Dissapoonting that 'our' song needs a social media backing or lyrics written onna clapper to spark it back into use. I feel the only way it will go again is if a correct tempo version is recorded and played instead of 'hey Jude'. Until this happens its down to every singer to belt it out when they hear others going for it.
