nnfox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 When you look around the league, there are some really good clubs out there and some absolute rubbish ones. It seems to me that there are a lot of supporters of other clubs out there who are always in a state of disgruntlement. I can't list them all but everyone can think of teams where the fans are disappointed with some aspect of their club. Some hate the owners. Some hate their manager. Some are fed up of the players' lack of performance. Some are frustrated by transfer policy etc etc. Some have problems with all of the above. We, on the other hand are: Top of the league Have brilliant owners A great, full stadium every week Players that give 100% every week A manager who is tactically superb and a great bloke Fantastic back room staff. My questions are: Right here, right now, is this as good as it gets for a football supporter? Do we tick all the boxes that a fan wants ticking? Do other fans wish their clubs were like ours? If there are happier fans out there, who are they?

I understand what you're saying but don't really agree. So far we're guaranteed Europa football, so I've read. Only a serial pessimist would imagine we'll not get into the Champions League. A top three finish would mean no qualifying round and winning the Premiership would be the best trophy we've ever won in the history of the club but one that is entirely attainable. Any of those things would mark the start of a new chapter of potential achievement. Upwards thereafter would be to compete for Champions League honours, to retain our Premiership title and perhaps win the FA Cup at last or the Charity Shield as well and so make a habit of winning things. To make our debut in World football and establish ourselves as one of the world's top 20 best and richest clubs. Lofty ambitions I'd agree but nothing less than I'd imagine our owners are dreaming of and, unlike so many dreamers, those owners have shown they can achieve things as well as talk about them. In 60 years as a fan I've never known a better time to support this club and I can't see why it can't continue. Even the way the owners treat our fans is special.....and long may it continue.

ajthefox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 We are so lucky to have the owners we do, we really, really are. They are pivotal to all of this. They made a few mistakes along the way, but bringing NP back, having faith in him when we'd been written off by everyone (including many of us) and then appointing Claudio has made this the most unbelievable season we could've ever imagined.

We did not start the promotion season off with people slagging off NP Vardy and Drinky did we. We have had our share of moaning over the years infact more years moaning than enjoying the football. Yes this is a great time to support city but we are far from barca or Madrid.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 Since I've been a fan of this club, I've been lucky enough to be part of some great seasons and this season is another incredible one to add to the list. The celebrations after every goal I just love. Every goal I've always celebrated well and this season there's been many quality moments well worthy of cherishing - Vardy v Liverpool, Ulloa v Norwich, Vardy v Man Utd etc etc etc. It is a truly fantastic time to be a City fan. The turnaround of our atmosphere at home has been superb to be involved in. I'll be honest I'm no clappers fan but the way the atmosphere has improved within these 2 years has been absolutely instrumental in the success of last season (great escape) and of course this season. Union FS deserve a lot of credit for this as well in SK1.

At Oxford this season, we're in the thick of the automatic promotion hunt, we've had an FA Cup run and beaten Premiership opposition, and we've been to Wembley in the JPT. If we go on and seal promotion, we'll have achieved everything we've set out to this season and we'll be absolutely over the moon about how the season has gone. But I suspect we still won't be as happy as you lot. Because, and correct me if I'm wrong here, you seem to be on the verge of not just achieving your goals for the season, but absolutely blowing them out of the water and doing something that everyone at the beginning of the season though couldn't be done. I can't imagine there's a football fan on the planet that's as made up as you lot at the minute.

This season we started with a team of misfits and a manager that couldn't beat the Faroe Islands. We'd lost our manager and our player of the season. We were Favourites for relegation and 5000-1 for the title. There was more chance of finding Elvis alive. We are on the verge of winning the title for the first time, the first time isn't always the best in terms of technique and stamina but it is always the most memorable. Even if we win the title again in the next few years the nerves and the excitement and the relief of popping that cherry can never be recreated. Even winning the Champions league or recreating the invincibles will not match this season.

Pretty soon you'll have all the football fans in the country and around the world supporting you, and of course that is only natural and proper. I've read some bollocks on this forum, but the OP takes it to another level - and you call Tottenham fans arrogant and deluded? You've spent all day discussing whether this or that was a penalty when both decisions went your way - fair enough - but you then howl with outrage when others even suggest that that might not have been the case - as if it's a capital crime to oppose your viewpoints. I didn't see either incident, and you might all be right, but digging out pundits and journalists for dissenting is being naive. It's their job to make these issues talking points, even if they are talking out of their collective arses. Stop being so paranoid and enjoy the ride - it's what happens when you're in the spotlight.

Simple things! (And not one of the cheap shit ones that Chelsea fan was selling yesterday.)

It leaves you absolutely frazzled. You then look across Arsenal's, Man Utd's, Chelsea's etc who have been riding the kiddies coaster with its quaint little ladybird and caterpillar cars. They get off looking just as shattered as you do. I know which one I'd rather be on.

Well then Reg, in response to the "arrogant and deluded" OP, which fans are happier with their entire set up than us right now? Spurs think they have the best team, best manager, best everything in the league, but they're clearly not happy with it

For me this is only the beginning of "onwards and upwards". I remember thinking it was unlikely to be better than topping the First Division and reaching the FA Cup final in the same season but the sheer excitement and achievement of this season has probably topped it. If we do win the Champions League anytime soon I'll look forward to your viewpoint. I don't accept that the only way is down but this will always stand out as a special season, no question.
