Captain... Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Harsh on Mahrez, tried hard and there were some nice touches, he wasn't the worst on the pitch, (sorry Shinji) and he should be higher than the subs, who played their part but didn't do anything of note.
RobHawk Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 I personally think the team score should be a lot higher, there were a number of players noticably below par but it was the overall team performance that got us the 3 points.
kingcarr21 Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Six players make the top 5? mistype. I changed it before you commented na na nana na

I appreciate he's not an out and right midfielder but if he's having no success going forward, he should at least do some defensive duties for the team, especially with bertrand flying down the left at every opportunity On another note, Southampton were not the third best team we have played this season, never really looked like scoring and if we had been a bit more clinical, we would have won by 2 or 3. Arsenal, Tottenham, Liverpool, West Brom and Stoke have all had better games against us

A couple of times the ball was played into a dangerous area by Vardy and Shinji was nowhere near it, when he should have been in there for a tap in.
Clever Fox Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 It's very clear that all the travelling and two Two Int matches each took it's toll on Mahrez and Shinji in particular. Mahrez was out on his feet pretty much from the start. I'm just surprised it took CR so long to change him for Dyer or Gray. judging from the performance of Morgan I suspect that he travelled first class with a Bed to rest throughout the long flight. We have 6 big games coming up and we need everyone at their very best. I'm sure a few days in bed alone will do them all the power of good.

There were plenty of times when Mahrez did not even track back and Simpson was overloaded. (And Simpson was my MOTM btw).
shen Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 I personally think the team score should be a lot higher, there were a number of players noticably below par but it was the overall team performance that got us the 3 points. Bit nonsensical that. The overall team performance has brought us every other win this season as well. Seventh best performance so far is probably about right, and maybe even a tad high. Who was it giving Simpson a 4/10? He'd have got MOTM otherwise I bet Can't really argue with Morgan getting it though. A beast in defense and the main difference between the sides with his goal. Had Simpson scored, I would have sided with you.

Had Simpson scored, I would have sided with you. Not at all, Morgan and Simpson were both immense and Morgan getting the winner (and Simpson missing an absolute sitter) definitely fair to award Morgan MOTM It was just bit strange in the ratings someone said Simpson was awful and given a 4(?)/10
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 All 4 defenders making up the top 4, Spurs fans would be livid seeing that. #ParkTheBus Edit; followed by our defensive midfielder and then the goalie
Captain... Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 There were plenty of times when Mahrez did not even track back and Simpson was overloaded. (And Simpson was my MOTM btw). Again not denying that, Mahrez didn't have a great game, but he did track back at times, and make one excellent tackle. He also tried to force the game, yes it didn't come off, but he was taking people on, trying to work some space and make some magic happen. It didn't come off for him, but he had more impact and influence on the game than Okazaki and the subs and should be rated higher than them. 10th would be fair, 14th is very harsh.
Dickov22 Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Danny Simpson had the best game he's ever had for us. A few months back I thought he was average. He's bloody fantastic.
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Six players make the top 5? There are 3 types of people in this world - those who can coun't and those who can't. good ratings, but mahrez was not our worse player

Dan Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Southampton 3rd best side we've played all season? Not sure about that one. If Pulis had set up how they did in the first half he'd have been absolutely slated.
MattCan Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Out of the starting 11 he was. No. He was obviously recovering from travel. He played defense more than he should. He was at the origin of at least two dangerous plays. He is the EPL player of the season and constantly low-rated on FoxTalk. It shows that these FoxTalk ratings are heavily biased by fanboys and haters.

"Oh Mahrez was crap today but he was on a plane for a bit a had to recover from being in a GMT+3 time zone so I'm going to give him a couple of free points on the match rating"? The travel was a factor in why he was the worst player for us Sunday. But as people have said other people in the squad travelled further and performed better. But I'm sure your point of view is 100% non biased

Koke Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Southampton were 3rd best opposition? I know Arsenal were probably the best but who were the second best?

He's consistently been in the top 3 players in the ratings all season. He was poor on Sunday. Didn't offer much going forward and was a liability defensively. I agree that travel probably affected him, and knowing Mahrez he will probably score against Sunderland next game so it's all good.
