World class

I have supported Leicester since the early 70s. I saw Keith Weller bamboozle Norwich in tights. The best game ever was FA Cup quarters v Shrewsbury when our goalkeepers were Wallington, Young and Lynex.

How many world class players have played for Leicester? I put forward Cambiaso and Kante. Was Lineker world class before he left? He got stick from Pen 4 when he was young. I barely remember Shilton.

Who are Leicester's world class players?

Theo Zagorakis got a major international honour as captain.

Perhaps not world class, but a huge achievement

Savage according to himself, said he must be after marking Messi out of a game, what a twonk.....

Mahrez for his ability. Definitely world class

I'd say Vardy too. He's not naturally the most talented player but his work rate and determination make him world class imo.

Im not sure Mahrez is WORLD class.

Hes extremely good, EXTREMELY good, but i wouldnt put him in the world bracket.

I genuinely don't think Riyad or Kante would look out of place in any clubs starting eleven, whether that makes them world class I don't know but they almost certainly both will be.

I dont think that makes a player world class, no.

I wouldnt call Pepe a world class defender, but hes in Real Madrid's team for example.

For Mahrez to be world class, he would have a bigger impact on days like today.

Kanté could play in any team, the form he's been in this season. I genuinely think he's extraordinary. No player out there as good as him at what he does.

World-class means you are genuinely one of the best in the world in your role, putting in consistent performances that are a class above. A consistent 8.

The only player who qualifies here is Kante, and to say that is beyond disbelief. That we possess a world-class player who is putting world class performances for US is stuff of dreams.

Mahrez is a world-class talent (and he has world-class skill), but the consistency isn't there yet.

Mahrez for me is miles off world class

He has world class skill set but his application on a consistent basis isn't even European class at present

Let's hope he stays and Hones his skills to become a world class player

He won't do that on the bench at Barca

We have a world class back 5. We have a world class midfield 4. We have a world class front 2.

You forgot world class manager.

And Bernie might be world class, uh, in some way or another.

Said it in the other thread but for me 'world class' is too easy thrown around, should be reserved for the only genuine top players currently in the game.

Kante, for me, should he keep this up for another couple of years, will be thrown into that category. He needs to show it in Europe as well.

Mahrez is another, he needs to keep it up and show it in Europe, but he isn't anywhere near as consistent as Kante.

Kanté is by far and away the best player I've ever seen in a city shirt, not that that is much of an endorsement given the time frame in which I've been about to witness them. But the current bunch are, and probably will be the best I'll ever see unless we really kick on in the next couple of years.

I appreciate how the contribution of Mahrez this year and understand that he has been phenomenal for a large portion of the season, but he remains suspect in my opinion. If he stays, I feel next season will be the one that defines his career. Repeat the form he's shown this year with a tinge more consistency, the world's his oyster. Anything that falls (reasonably) below the bar he's set himself may cause his chances of moving to an elite club vanish.

Neither are 'world class', but if one was to fulfil that, I'd have to back Kanté to be the one.

I think some people are a little biased here.

I think a world class player is one that could walk in to any team in the world and from this current team, I'd only include Kante - he's probably the greatest player I've seen play in a Leicester shirt. Cambiasso and Mancini used to be world class but they'd lost a little of that when he came to Leicester.

As for further back, I'm not sure in the 36 years that I've been a fan that I've seen many truly world class players although I have seem plenty of players capable of world class performance. There is a difference.
