Sol thewall Bamba Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 He's a fine defender but his elbows and forearms are all over the place. English refs can be lenient but in the CL next season European refs will not hesitate to give fouls and penalties against him. Numerous times this season he's gotten away with it, Villa and Liverpool spring to mind. He got away with another one today on Reid. Oh no, we're not going to win the CL becasue Huth might give a penalty away People used to say the same thing about Wasyl, and when he was playing regularly he never got caught, only at Arsenal did it cost us.
BoyJones Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 That's been Huth's style most of his career. It only looks bad because he stands his ground and isn't easily intimidated. He gets fouled plenty of times when attacking, but never really complains. If he needs to he will adapt his manner of play in Europe, I have no worries about him playing Messi et al!
Carl the Llama Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 Honestly if it's alright for players to pull his shirt off in the oppo's area then I have no problem with him being a bit tactical with his handsiness.
RedSoxUK Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 To be honest, it goes both ways. I see a lot of defenders and attackers doing it, fouling in the box. With dead ball situations, there's just too much off the ball activity for one to be taken seriously because Huth is a little more agressive in his nature. What he's doing is definitely a foul anywhere else, at any other situation, and it's pretty common for refs to just let it go unless it's actually stopping a goalscoring opportuniy. What happened to Morgan was a disgraceful decision by the ref because he was already watching Morgan even though the tusseling went both ways, and Reid clearly played for it, and wasn't even anywhere near where the ball was located, to me that's an awful decision. There's been times Huth has been fouled, Arsenal away, Wellbeck header, Huth is being pulled back by Giroud, which otherwise Huth would have probably gotten in the way of the goal. Little bits like that go unpunished so often. Whether or not the rules need to be manipulated to give attackers more rights in the box is questionable, we see time and time againt the amount of fouls given against attackers in the box when attacking a free kick, but very little from the defence. It's incredibly hard for the ref to watch 16/18 players tussling in the box, and the keeper.
Hungry Hungry Fox Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 We definitely won't get away with our style of defending in Europe. Neymar would be on the floor every time Morgan went near him. Morgan and Huth bullied emineke yesterday, refs in Europe won't allow that. You've never seen Italian defending then
Guest Mee-9 Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 Did anyone think we played with an almost un-necessary aggression yesterday? Flying in for tackles, arms flying everywhere, holding in the box.
GaelicFox Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 Did anyone think we played with an almost un-necessary aggression yesterday? Flying in for tackles, arms flying everywhere, holding in the box. I think we were hyped , but it's understandable Spring sun added to the "heat"
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 Italian dark arts are a bit different to the way huth has been defending. Both ways can be effective, but in the premier league less diving overall... I would say us in Europe will be similar to the Arsenal game, where their team were diving, waving yellow cards, making the most out of every contact made. So in that sense we should smarten up a bit. I personally think the model of atletico Madrid is one we could partially itate with similar sorts of style. Only thing I would say is atletico are more "streetsmart" in how they defend. Godin can be a tough uncompromising so and so too but it's less obvious than our Huthy
baldeagle Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 It's how he's played all season and one of the reasons we've won so many games and kept so many clean sheets .its a bit like asking vardy not to run
EnglishOxide Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 We definitely won't get away with our style of defending in Europe. Neymar would be on the floor every time Morgan went near him. Morgan and Huth bullied emineke yesterday, refs in Europe won't allow that. Athletico Madrid get by alright.
Webbo Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 Leicester duo Robert Huth and Wes Morgan are not saints, they are human battering rams - but in all title-winning teams there are defenders happy to play the baddy http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/article-3545867/Leicester-duo-Robert-Huth-Wes-Morgan-not-saints-human-battering-rams-title-winning-teams-defenders-happy-baddy.html
Koke Posted 18 April 2016 Author Posted 18 April 2016 Did anyone think we played with an almost un-necessary aggression yesterday? Flying in for tackles, arms flying everywhere, holding in the box. I felt that too. I remember there was an early tough tackle on Payet and he looked bemused as to why he didn't get a free kick. But West Ham were no saints either, they know the dark sets as well. I felt bad for Morgan because Reid's penalty was a pathetic dive and the game just descended into a chaotic rugby match.
ScouseFox Posted 18 April 2016 Posted 18 April 2016 who gives a shit about the champions league? we're in it for a massive amount of fun, if we lose all 6 group game 12-0 all from 12 penalties given away by huth elbowing people I wouldn't give a fu ck it'd still be absolutely great
KP Fox Posted 23 April 2016 Posted 23 April 2016 Anyone that scores a winner for us against Spurs does not worry me!
surrifox Posted 23 April 2016 Posted 23 April 2016 Reminds me of the good old days of worrying about "bombscare" (but never red carded) Wasil
coolhandfox Posted 23 April 2016 Posted 23 April 2016 Without him, would would have ended up back in the championship last season, have to take the rough with the smooth! Best central defender with have had since Taggart and Elliot!
stingray Posted 25 April 2016 Posted 25 April 2016 Does anyone know how many bookings Huth is on now?
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 25 April 2016 Posted 25 April 2016 Does anyone know how many bookings Huth is on now? 8 after the one yesterday. So all good
stingray Posted 25 April 2016 Posted 25 April 2016 8 after the one yesterday. So all good so he needs two more till next ban yes? Sd be ok this season...
norwichfox Posted 25 April 2016 Posted 25 April 2016 Yea...I blame Huth for keeping us up last season....ffs it's the way he plays and I'm glad he does it his way.
Captain... Posted 25 April 2016 Posted 25 April 2016 A lot of people said last season we were too nice, we missed that bit of devil, that pushing the limits of acceptability, that edge that players like Walsh and Eliott, or Keown, Viera, Keane, Pearce, Dicks, Ruddock, Carroll gave their sides. Nice guys finish last, sometimes you have to stick the boot/elbow in at the right moment, take the punishment and move on. We've become brilliant at playing in the very edge of acceptability and it has massively helped us. No compromise, no respite, just 11 men pushing everything they have to the limit to give this team an advantage. Huth is a beast.
The Doctor Posted 25 April 2016 Posted 25 April 2016 so he needs two more till next ban yes? Sd be ok this season... 7 till the next ban, the amnesty for 10 was three weeks ago, only 15 counts to a ban now.
