cityfanlee23 Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Amongst all our celebrations congratulations to Burton Albion for two promotions in a row to the championship. Hamza Choudhury is playing their currently. Some talent we have there. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36180752 Really hope he may get some game time pre season and prove to be a real talent, all of this barca talk sent our fans into overdrive with not a lot of evidence so it's nice to see him showing his potential, Got a red there and he loves a tackle, Let's hope he's as good as we think. Potentially don't need to add to the midfield if apart from maybe a youngster or an unexposed foreign player.
Buce Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Villa in a local derby with Burton. How the mighty have fallen.
Jimothy Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Villa in a local derby with Burton. How the mighty have fallen. Or how the not so mighty have risen.
Hollism Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Villa, Derby, Birmingham and Burton in the playoffs with forest relegated would do. Long as Burton went up
MC Prussian Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Villa in a local derby with Burton. How the mighty have fallen. I'm sorry, but Burton's not really THE derby for Aston Villa. That title is reserved for Derby. Maybe they'll create a dedicated trophy, as well.
Ross-Kemp Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 I think villa will be more concerned with Birmingham than Burton. Derby on the other hand will be in their element, Brian Clough & Nigel Clough trophies

It'll be derby I think, when I went to a Burton game months ago there was a lot of anti derby chants. Can you believe this though Burton Albion going to be in the same league as Derby, Villa, Newcastle, Forest, Leeds, Wolves and maybe even Sunderland. Also in an higher league than Cov Nice a little town and probably no bigger than Hinckley.

Corky Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 15 years ago they kicked off the season in the Northern Premier League, tremendous rise in a short space of time. And they've lost good managers over the past two years and still managed promotions.
Guest FriendlyRam Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Being a Derby fan I can say I have no real emotion to Burton, maybe only Nigel Clough but, I'm one of the few Derby fans who liked Nigel and was sad to see him go, worked on a shoestring whilst here and if given the funds some of the others have had he would have done just as good a job imo. Forest are always going to be our rivals, although the rivalry over the last couple of seasons as felt flat for us personally, Forest didn't really get up for it a few weeks back either, just seems its fizzled out a little playing each other every season. Would love it if we joined you lot in the prem, we're dying to sing "Leicester City we're coming for you" at wembley
davieG Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 New phrases for the English language Doing a Leicester Going for a Burton (more a total change of meaning)
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Very well done to them, to progress in that amount of time as a football club is impressive.
purpleronnie Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 I remember when they were in the northern premier league, 5 promotions later they'll be playing in the Championship...who knows maybe they'll do a Bournemouth, wouldn't that be something.
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 I remember when they were in the northern premier league, 5 promotions later they'll be playing in the Championship...who knows maybe they'll do a Bournemouth, wouldn't that be something.Yep they were proper shit when I was growing up, can remember them getting into the conference being a big deal.Just goes to show what taking Man U to a replay in the FA cup can do for a club
TheSomersetFox Posted 8 May 2016 Posted 8 May 2016 Live pretty close to Burton myself so i've always followed their results, pretty mad what they've done really. I remember getting excited at the fact that Burton were gonna be on Fifa when they got promoted to the football league a few years back, now it looks like they'll be rocking up at St James' next season .
David Hankey Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Many congratulations to neighbours Burton Albion and Nigel Clough. To see them in the Championship is absolutely fantastic, well done.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Got a sneaky feeling they'll make the playoffs even get promoted straight away. They've got momentum and there's so many proper shit teams in the Championship that any team with a bit of spirit should be able to despatch.
Dan Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Burton in the same league as Derby, Forest, Villa, Birmingham and Wolves is so ridiculous it's brilliant. You know as well they'll turn a couple of them over. They have got to be the smallest club to ever play at that level. They'd not even played in the football league until 2009.
RowlattsFox Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 Great achievement. More likey to be a Yeovil rather than a Bournemouth but you never know.
Out Foxed Posted 9 May 2016 Posted 9 May 2016 If they make it to the Prem id argue that's up there with what we've achieved this season. Good luck to them.

The structure is different now but in 2001 they were in what now is effectively the seventh tier of the pyramid.

Plus they only formed in 1950. Just imagine Burton could potential be one year away from premier league football, as we know never say never.
