Gary Eatfood Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 I don't know if this topic has ever been discussed before but what do you think your life would be like if football didn't exist? For me, potentially I might've been a Tigers fan (even though I prefer Rugby League as a sport). I'm might read a few more books, write a bit more but if football was taken away tomorrow I would feel genuinely lost. Music would fill the void to an extent but without football I'm not sure what my life would be like. What about all the other Foxes Talkers? (Incidentally this is the first topic I've ever posted so General Chat felt like the right place for it).
Guest Manini Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 But..but...how would we ever swap the family stand with the kop?!
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 We'd be living in a nuclear winter, mate. If we couldn't beat the Germans by virtue of a dubious goal Harold Wilson would have obliterated the ****ers.
Vacamion Posted 1 June 2016 Posted 1 June 2016 We Brits invented football at about the same time we invented or codified a load of other sports. We'd have all been raving about cricket, rugby or quidditch or whatever in just the same way we now rave about football.

We'd have all been raving about cricket, rugby or quidditch or whatever in just the same way we now rave about football. But would we? Does cricket and rugby have the same sort of populist attraction that football has? Let's face it, there isn't another game that's been invented that comes close to the drama of football. One minute you're celebrating in ecstasy, the next you're burying your face into your chest wishing that the world would end. Football has it all.
Jattdogg Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 I would have clearly made porn. A little POV or interracial lovin.

Look at India, Australia and New Zealand to see the truth of this. Over there football barely raises an eyebrow.
Bayfox Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 I would be a lot richer and probably have no friends. This, and have 1 less thing to discuss over a pint. I'd be a lot less well travelled with in the UK as well. But probably have been able to afford about 6 holidays a year.
Rincewind Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Was taking in the pub about getting a mini-bus for the Community Shield. Then someone looked up the price of tickets for the game $99 plus cheapest which put everyone off the idea. Looked on Facebook and some have said the ticket prices are not on sale yet. Even rang the club ticket office. Would the price be about right or is it just some scammers jumping the gun?

Get one that quotes you in pounds instead of dollars and you might fare better ....

Without football there would probably be no rugby either! Lucky for me i'm also a fan of cricket so that would keep me going
Mark_w Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Can we keep Football Manager? Because that's going to have a pretty big bearing on what my life will be like.
Wymsey Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Probably spend most of Tuesdays/Saturdays at the pub bored watching Formula One.

Although I never made it clear and was open to misinterpretation. I will edit it to avoid others making the same mistake.

FA Cup semi final was £50 quid for lower tier and £60 for upper so that may give some indication, however I've been told it was as low as £35 last year for community shield.
Fox92 Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 I honestly don't know. Like I love it, always have done and always will. Even when I see people I went to school with it's always "you still love your football". Yes, that'll never change. Can remember when someone asked me if I had to pick between football and music (because I'm a big music fan too) and no way would I choose music over football.
ScouseFox Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 Yes. Look at India, Australia and New Zealand to see the truth of this. Over there football barely raises an eyebrow. still rare that a game of cricket (especially a test) or a game of rugby union ever has as much emotion/drama as a game of football. the way the scoring works and the way the game's played means there is a huge percentage of games that are still not decided going into the last 5 minutes. in a huge amount of cricket or rugby games by half way through it's almost impossible for one team to win. they're either 20 odd points behind or they're 6 wickets down for 100 runs trying to chase 350. loads of cricket games just peter (is that the right word?) out, look at the current test series, both tests were decided about a quarter of the way through, the rest was just a matter of when, not if. that pretty much never happens at the top level of footy.

Thanks I will pass it on. It may be doable if tickets are available. I Googled and it says on the FA site buy from club or direct from Wembley. No details yet. I suggested hiring a minibus with about a dozen of us and make a day of it. With the bus it may be £50 plus extras each in total which is not bad. But will be tripled by booze I expect. The site says it will be ST first but not to buy of other sites. Thought the price seemed high. They would not half fill the ground at those prices.
MrSpaM Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 I'd be watching Kabaddi personally Kabaddi, Kabaddi, Kabaddi, Kabaddi, Kabaddi, Kabaddi, Kabaddi, Kabaddi, Kabaddi, Kabaddi, Kabaddi,
Vlad the Fox Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 I'd go down the butchers get a pigs bladder, get my mates together over a park somewhere and kick it around.
Great Boos Up Posted 2 June 2016 Posted 2 June 2016 In topics of conversation, percentage wise, I'd be much higher up in being right!
