Thank God for that ... I was worried that we had spent all that money on a fat tub of lard that was fvcked after 20 minutes and had a really bad attitude ... phew !
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 Strugging to work out the actual fee for Slimani, the Daily Mail reckon 29m. Riyad has helped get the deal through. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3766601/Leicester-City-agree-club-record-29-7m-fee-Sporting-Lisbon-striker-Islam-Slimani.html

The_77 Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 Loyalty to a club and team spirit within a squad is a different thing but he has been at Sporting for his whole career and this could be his last chance at a big money move to the Prem so fair play to him. More solid rumours tomorrow about this potential £60million plus £10m in add-ons and no crazy statements from their President and we are looking good!!I think we should all give Silva the benefit of the doubt even though Sporting's president seems like such a lovely guy.

He's on, what, 0.75 goals a game over there? He won't be here. Ah yes. The classic players never improve with Leicester City. I forgot we hadn't made a bunch of rejects into champions.

People seem to forget Okazaki had a decent scoring record in a much stronger league before he came and we asked him to play virtually as a midfielder. This guy is going to have to do the donkey work Shinji does, so he's not going to be leading the line like he did for Sporting.
Benji Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 Work needs to hurry up and finish for the day so I can sit in front of SSN

ScouseFox Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 so exciting seeing that big a price next to "leicester bid" we've made it

This window has been a huge change in our clubs transfer policy, a large part down to our success. Here's hoping it's as successful as the old ways. The best deadline day I can remember before this was the £3m signing of Waggy. This is on another planet.

Feels like the first baby steps on a journey which will end in financial apocolypse and playing in League One for 10 years like Leeds or Portsmouth. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
Ron Combo Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 My advice to everyone today is to adopt the brace position.

The_77 Posted 31 August 2016 Posted 31 August 2016 No issue with spending 30m per se, just think that if we are going to do that it should be for a first-choice target already playing at our level, in a position that will improve the team in the way we already play, not chancing on an admittedly long-term target from a poor league when we have three who can play the CF role already. The fact this has come so late and the fee gone up so quickly is indicative of panic from our side and gleeful hand-rubbing from theirs. Spending whatever it takes on average players is exactly the problem. Very few people seem to actually rate this guy. What does he even bring to the way we play now? He's not a 10, he doesn't play out wide. He doesn't play the Okazaki role, and when we dispensed with Okazaki to play with 2 CFs we looked toilet, so Okazaki should play. He never takes Vardy off so theres no room there. With Musa looking decent and deployable wide it looks like we're about to spend 30 million on someone to come on for Okazaki after 70 minutes and get in the box a bit. Not worth it. Are we changing system or what? This is a joke, right? We've been after him for years. You're right though, nobody rates him except Mahrez and the Algerian National Team, our scouts, and, um, just about EVERY SINGLE Sporting fan.
