Matt Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 England manager Roy Hodgson is only guaranteed a new contract if he reaches Euro 2016 semi-finals. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2016/06/19/england-manager-roy-hodgson-is-only-guaranteed-a-new-contract--i/  Unbelievable. There was me thinking there might be some hope he'd be sacked post tournament (Didn't actually realise his contract is over at the end of the tournament, I was thinking he'd have to be sacked) and according to that article, no, they're actually considering giving the twat a new contract. The FA needs a total overhaul. I suppose Greg Dyke going at the end of month might improve things slightly, hopefully the new bloke who comes in has other opinions and see Woy for the idiot he is.

There's no one to replace him! The FA will be desperate for him to have a good tournament so they don't have to sack him. To be honest I don't think they will whatever happens. We seriously lack talented coaches in this country.

To be honest I don't think they will whatever happens. We seriously lack talented coaches in this country. They don't have to sack him, his contract expires after the tournament! As for no-one to replace him, I tend to agree, but surely there is someone better out there, someone who plays players in correct positions, someone who plays players on form, Unfortunately Woy or not, The FA under the guidence of who is there will only appoint another yes man anyway but I reiterate there has to be someone better out there.

Didn't realise that. Tell me who is definitely available and better though..?! Depressing eh?!!
ScouseFox Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 if we get to the semi final we'd have massively outdone all expectations and he'd deserve a new deal, no? most stupid c unts in this country have been celebrating our group stage exit since this time last year. and yeah, the favourite to replace him is alan pardew...

True most thought Wales were actually better

They want another Englishman so we are looking at Pardew, Dyche, Howe, Bruce from the top division next season as Allardyce is never going to get it. Neville possibly might or even Southgate.
ScouseFox Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 10/10 in qualifying and the semis at least in the euros, that'd be one hell of a success compared to what most expected.
Fox92 Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Dunno why they come out saying this stuff mid tournament. The next manager will be Southgate, we all know that.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 If he makes the semi finals he deserves a new contract, we've not been to a semi finals of a competition since euro 96
Sharpe's Fox Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Meh can't really moan about that. Best we've done in 20 years and the options out their are abominable? Fair enough imo
foxes_rule1978 Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Can't argue with the goal , if he gets us the the semi final then obviously he is doing something right!
Dodgy Bob Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 We're not getting to the semi's so it's nothing to worry about. However I do think he's got a good chance of getting a new contract even he flukes his way to the quarters, and that would be a disaster. I am worried that Greg Dyke gets to make the decision. He is a journalist who is nearly 80 years old and about to retire. Can we not have someone a bit more in tune with modern football deciding who the next manager should be?
Webbo Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Can we not have someone a bit more in tune with modern football deciding who the next manager should be? What's modern football, Tony Pulis? Sam Alladyce? Shaun Dyche?. What about Wenger? He can pick a winner?
Manwell Pablo Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Why on earth would we sack the manager who gets us to a first competitive semi in 20 years. I appreciate some of you don't like him but you can't really argue with that.
It'sblueupnorth Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Dear me, I cannot stand Hodgson, utterly detestable but if he got us to the semis then you really can't argue with the FA giving him another contract. However I do agree, the FA needs a total overhaul regardless, if he's sacked they'll only replace him with another yes man like Gareth Southgate.
Vacamion Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 There's no guarantee Hodgson will want to continue. He's in his late 60s. The job puts him under incredible pressure, scrutiny and criticism. If he does well (quarter finals or better) he could leave with his head held high and become a Bobby Robson style beloved elder statesman of the game.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 Why on earth would we sack the manager who gets us to a first competitive semi in 20 years. I appreciate some of you don't like him but you can't really argue with that. Depends how we get there. If we absolutely fluke it (and that can happen) or we completely capitulate in the Semi, there would be reasons to think, thanks Roy but we'll go in a new direction.
Vacamion Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 I think he's said he wants to stay. He would say that, though to prevent speculation and focus on his future rather than the job in hand during an important tournament.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 I think he'll sign an extension, most likely retire at the world cup
Matt Posted 19 June 2016 Author Posted 19 June 2016 So you want him sacked even if we win the euros? Really can't see it, can you, genuinely? Not under him. I think this team could under the right guidance (With 1 or 2 tweaks), used in the right way, what with some of the 'lesser' teams getting through. There's no guarantee Hodgson will want to continue. He's in his late 60s. The job puts him under incredible pressure, scrutiny and criticism. If he does well (quarter finals or better) he could leave with his head held high and become a Bobby Robson style beloved elder statesman of the game. For €5m a year? Not even Woy is that simple. I think he's said he wants to stay. And for €5m why wouldn't you!
Hollism Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 I'd rather have Neville barring a remarkable run at this tournament.
Larry_LCFC Posted 19 June 2016 Posted 19 June 2016 England are just such a boring prospect under Hodgson. It feels so backwards and boring to watch. The country has fallen out of love with England international football which is so sad. How many car flags have you seen during this competition. I've seen about 3. This time 8 years ago and beyond, every other car had one. The whole thing needs an overhaul, and that can only happen when the stupid dinosaur leaves.
