CloudFox Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 According to a Fulham friend of mine, apparently Fulham were in for him, and now we may have hijacked the bid... Few sources floating about, linking us to him: http://www.tipsbladet.dk/nyhed/superliga/medie-leicester-opmaerksomme-paa-delaney http://www.futbolarena.com/galatasaray-transfer-haberleri-cimbomun-ilgilendigi-thomas-delaneye-leicester-city-kancasi-284466h/q4qgqs Maybe our Scandinavian friends could provide a little more insight? He plays CM, it would seem.

FireFox Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 One year left on contact, played with Amartey, captain at 24
Poznan34 Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 He might be an undiscovered gem but as PL Champions we will never be a more attractive proposition. Shouldn't we be going for the the best talent we can get? Fulham finished 20th in the Championship last season and we are competing with them? Of course we might have tried and this guy is the backup option. Or maybe we don't want to upset the squad with "big money" signings. Just a thought.
shen Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 I would say he's lower midtable Premier League level at best. He's got great work rate, two good feet and is a surprising aerial menace at set pieces. He's got a good engine and plays box to box. He's been on the fringes of the national team, but looks like establishing himself in the near future.
MPH Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Don't trust anyone who has an English name that isn't English You mean like Wes Morgan?

This will be like where Kramaric chose Leicester over Chelsea
Fox92 Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Don't trust anyone who has an English name that isn't English I'd happily take Robert Lewandowski here.

So you'd rather we go against the transfer process that won us the league and go for big names instead? You'd think people would have learned by now. That's like saying you'd be against signing Vardy, Mahrez and Kante now because we can 'do better' than Conference players and players from the lower leagues in France...
MPH Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Ain't he welsh? Is this a joke? Are you double joking my joke?

Poznan34 Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 So you'd rather we go against the transfer process that won us the league and go for big names instead? You'd think people would have learned by now. That's like saying you'd be against signing Vardy, Mahrez and Kante now because we can 'do better' than Conference players and players from the lower leagues in France... We signed Vardy and Mahrez in the Championship, Mahrez was around our level, Vardy riskier and took a season to settle. For Kante we were competing with Marseille for the signing, roughly our level and Ligue 1, not obscurity. I'm not saying we have to go for "big" names but all of our signings don't have to be plucked from obscurity. We have great pulling power currently, so its odd we wouldn't use that to sign players of greater immediate talent that we couldn't in the past. We went for cheaper/more obscure signings in the past was because we didn't the have pulling power to sign players with greater current ability. Vardy and Mahrez have grown an awful lot with us. Vardy and Mahrez were allowed seasons in the Championship to grow and then to the Prem. No, we wouldn't sign them now and stick them straight into the Prem and CL. Our options for us this summer: a) Use unprecedented pull power to sign more talented players now than we've signed in the past (that could improve more...) to help us stay in the top 6/8. These don't have to be "big names", but competing with Fulham doesn't indicate he's top 8 Prem quality. This option is what we seem to be doing with Hernandez, Zieler. b) Make obscure signings that could take 2 years+ to improve to a good standard by which time we may have fallen down the league (due to us not improving our squad immediately and other teams doing just that) and the chance to stay in top 8 is gone. If we want to stay where we are or around the European places we need to use our stature now to attract greater immediate talent than we have signed in the past.
WigstonWanderer Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 i know where the rum is from. Do they make rum in Wales?
Thommo Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 Don't trust anyone who has an English name that isn't English I think you'll find that Delaney is an Irish name not English
Koke Posted 30 June 2016 Posted 30 June 2016 IIRC his father is Irish and his mother is Danish. Surely the CM area is where we are pretty stacked. DD, Kante, King, Amartey, possibly Mendy as well. And we still got Inler and James.
