NeilLCFC Posted 18 July 2016 Posted 18 July 2016 Can someone help me understand what is happening at our club at the moment?! We've just written sports greatest ever story, so why does everyone want to leave?! This was meant to be the summer where we found it easy to sign our transfer targets, but instead, everyone from our first team right though to our head scout wants to leave. Cant help but feel something has gone wrong behind the scenes, nothing else makes sense
NeilLCFC Posted 18 July 2016 Author Posted 18 July 2016 Mods please move to the correct place.. Still getting used to the new site!
ozleicester Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 People have become famous from writing that history, as a result they are being offered (what they see as) the greatest opportunity of their lives. More power, More money, More prestige. the same job, better conditions more money... Who among us wouldnt consider, and possiblblty even act on, such an opportunity
Guest Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Steve Walsh is surplus to requirements as our transfer policy from here on out is to only buy Madrid and Barcelona players.
sylofox Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 So what have I missed? what players have handed in transfer requests? or is the OP taking so called press reports claiming people want to go as being true. Let's be honest keeping everyone would have been great but was never going to happen.

But sadly players don't support our club so are happy to feck off. What needs sorting by the FA UEFA and FIFA is agents trying to move on contracted players. Parps they should suspend agents licence and even restrict clubs from buying the player being touted. But I guess the big clubs will throw the toys out of the pram if this was to happen.
bluebeau Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 We have to face the fact that we are not a 'Big Club' yet. We caught the big clubs with their shorts down last season & they didn't like the end result. Our previously virtually unknown players became headliners & a target for the big clubs. Our star players are bound to have been tapped up by these clubs & told by their own players that they should come & join them. Money is obviously a huge factor in our players being tempted to leave as they can secure their future with a very lucrative 4 or 5 year contract. It's fairly simple really, most of us would probably react in the same way if we were put in the same position. Loyalty is virtually none existent unfortunately. I am very surprised at the Steve Walsh situation as it's only around 6 weeks since he signed a new contract with City. IMO City need to stand their ground & refuse approaches from other clubs for our players & staff. Like other posters have said, Watford refused to sell Deeney to us, Burnley are playing it tough & seem determined to either keep Keane or get top money for him if we want him. If we want to become a 'big' club & be able to attract class players & keep hold of our existing players, we must expand the capacity of our stadium or build a new one asap. Surely we can become the biggest football club outside of London & the North? Meanwhile Ranieri & co must maintain our current success & the supporters carry on with their fantastic support. The financial backing is there as we are fortunate to be blessed with terrific owners who are mega rich, I hope I am wrong, but I am worried that there will be further approaches for more of our players before the window closes & maybe also Craig Shakespeare?
yorkie1999 Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Really wouldn't like to see anyone swinging from the rafters, but remember when Wimbledon won the cup.
EGBFitness Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Its all starting to feel like typical City. It it winds me up when people say Kante was good business and need to realise we're not a big team - such a small mentality! We we have just won the league by 10 points!! No we wasn't lucky, No Chelsea didn't give it to us and no big teams just didn't want it last season! We are also a top seed for champions league which means we have good chances of getting a good group and reaching the knock out stages! So why the **** should we be happy to not consider ourselves a very attractive club for a lot of players now. Does a a player sign for a club because of their history? How big the stadium is? I doubt it! It's the clubs ambition/vision, how much money they are willing to pay them and their role within the club. I think people forget that until recent years Man City and Chelsea wasn't 'big clubs' and they over spent for years to be in a position we are now in! Kante is a snake but maybe there is more to his comments, Contes ambition? Is the club lacking it and happy to accept our achievements last year as a lucky year and go back into mid table security? Kante was poor business! He should of gone for more than what he did, that was poor business by the club! If reports are true, Mahrez £45m!? Are we really this stupid! PFA winners... Ronaldo £80m, Bale £90m, Hazard (reported £100m last season), Mahrez... £45m Walshie leaving? Although we rejected the initial approach why are we not looking to matching what Everton are giving him? He is apparently interested! Is even Everton showing more ambition than us? Yes maybe looking slightly negative at the minute but why does it feel like we are not moving on from the success achieved and taking a step back? We seem to not be prepared for this summer and downplaying what we achieved to under valuing players, poor contracts and backdown staff, you could even put home shirt sales to it too, 3 months and still unable to buy because of no other releases! It's a joke!
weller54 Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Perhaps last season's monumental success came too early?.. We, as a club were not prepared for such success and all the pressures that it brings? A top 10 finish last season, followed by a gradual improvement to achieving CL qualification in a few years time might, just might have been a better scenario for us in the longer term. What we unbelievably achieved last season could, if we're not careful, be to the detriment of our long term future and stability... The bar has been raised to an incredible height, I hope the infrastructure and mentality of our club is ready for that challenge?

NeilLCFC Posted 19 July 2016 Author Posted 19 July 2016 With regard to Kante, its a known fact he didn't want to come here, and it seems he was sold the move on 'just one season'. A chance to make his name in Europe, and get his move to a 'big team', and it made sense for us as we won the league and made a good profit on the sale. However it's everything else that's going on that is really worrying me and feels as if the bigger teams have met to discuss how to destroy us (probably not true, but that's how it looks). Or is there something going wrong within the club itself? In any case allowing Walsh to go, would be the end of everything we've built over the last few years. Maybe it is a case of Claudio becoming too involved in areas NP wouldn't. Just like any of us not liking working under a new manager in our jobs. It's ok at the beginning, but the more settled they become, the more changes they make

weller54 Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Spencer Davis Group did a song dedicated to Ngolo Kante... 'keep on running '..
One Ranieri Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 I think it's just a case of one season, no matter how successful or otherwise, doesn't change the stature of a club. It takes a number of years for that to happen because otherwise it is written off as a 'fluke'.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 I can agree with the post. It's because you'd think being the Champions of England & being in the Champions League would heighten your chances of keep your classy core players/staff together. Not suggesting at all we are suddenly a massive club and all our players/staff are destined to stay, but it does make you think given the position the club is in.
Fox92 Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 One top flight win does not make us "a big club". Players like Kante, for example, will still be attracted to the traditional big clubs. I mean, Mahrez even said he thought we were a Rugby side before he joined.
ChrisFilter Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Stop ****ing moaning. We've got Champions League football to come having just won the Premier League. Read that, and then reassess whether we should be panicking about the state of the club following one departure, and one rumour.
foxy boxing Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 because we have had success in a short space of time other clubs are envious and are wondering how we managed to do it without spending zillions, they look at us and think if they can poach our players and staff they will find out the winning formula. it was just one of those seasons where all the stars manged to align and the likes of which we may never live to see again. so lets just enjoy what happened and whatever happens in the future we as fans will be there
Strokes Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Just sign every player linked to Everton on Twitter for the next ten years, what could possibly go wrong?
NeilLCFC Posted 20 July 2016 Author Posted 20 July 2016 Can't help but feel that something has going wrong internally at the club

I'm ecstatic we did what we did but if we'd spent 5 years progressing from top half to top 6, Europa to Champions League maybe with a cup win in there and a ground expansion leading to an increase in revenue we might be able to compete financially to a better extent. As it is, we're two years out of the Championship, PL rules mean we can't just double everyone's salary.
