First weekend of the season they will be red hot on this and it will cool as the season goes on.

Will put a tenner on a player to be sent off in each of the games on the opening weekend, I expect to make a profit.

long overdue players think they can get away with shouting and swearing and berating officials,it has been going on too long now and managers having a go at the fourth official too. it is one thing saying it in practice it is another thing actually implementing this and following through with it.cannot wait for the first player to be sent off for this?

I was curious what odds you could get on that. definitely worth a couple of quid!

Not when it's Vardy in the first game!

No problem with this as long as match officials receive bans for inconsistency in the same match.. interpretation by different referees is normal, but when the same officials  ignore similar offenses in the same game, this is what annoys people very much..  Just :unsure:wait to we experience some foreign officials!

We all know the teams that are serial offenders but the game is very physical, strongly passionate and at times emotionally charged. I'd hate to see a red card in every other game for a heat of the moment human response. I hope this isn't a licence for over the top televised PC etiquette that tries to dictate a game of football.

The problem will be defining exactly what constitutes "offensive, insulting or abusive language".

I mean are they going to give the players a list of which words they can and cannot use in earshot of the ref?

I mean English has a pretty well-known hierarchy of swear words, but some of the non-native speakers of English may not really understand the concept. Could be a bit of a bloodbath on the opening weekend....

What happens if a players rues his luck and curses on the pitch somewhat away from the referee and the latter labelling it a red card offense because he thought the insult was about him?

In general, I salute the FA for this decision. In reality, I wonder whether it can actually be implemented properly without a major future scandal involved.

Where do you draw the line as a referee? It's all so subjective, too...

it could be the opposite the refs could will let it slide the first couple of match weeks but then come down hard after that

I think the FA should concentrate more on the cause of 'bad behaviour' by players rather than punishing for it. I.e. support for the referees to make the correct decision in the first place, which is what instigates the bad behaviour. The referees in the Euros and every major tournament are usually very good decision makers, it's just in the Premier League that they aren't.

thats why its the best league in the world.

I havent bothered looking for myself but do the new rules (guide lines:ph34r:) apply for all domestic competitions?

Would be interesting to see players being quiet as a mouse in a league game but reverting to tantrum mode for the following cup game.
