Guest CityFan 06 Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 Since our home atmosphere has dramatically improved since April 2015 (ish), fans have been saying how Filbert Way now feels more like 'home.' Does it to you? We've made some real history in the stadium within 14 years, and that, coupled with us having one of the best home atmosphere's in the top flight/England, has certainly helped to give that feel of home again IMO. I understand the move to the new ground has been difficult due to the character Filbert Street had, but I personally think it's the best it's ever been at the KP.
Nick Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 It does but I've never liked the aesthetics of the ground in terms of design. Personally I hope the Thais build a new 55K seater stadium that's state of the art and not a pile of generic grey concrete.
BlueSi13 Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 After watching us at the Friends Arena in Stockholm and Wembley the past week I have to say that I can't wait to watch us at the KP again.
AKCJ Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 I wish the stadium wasn't named something so generic, but we've made camp here and had some of the best and worst times here. It's got plenty of character and I love the place.
Voll Blau Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 It's certainly getting there, though a permanent non-corporate name might help complete that transition. Feel the flags, reputations of its big singing areas and obviously the history we've created there are all firmly set in stone now. Some stadium enhancements to give it a bit more character would be decent (bit of a pipe dream right now, but a proper terrace would sort that for me). Personally hope the talk of a move away is total bollocks and we can just expand there. We're lucky enough to be based so close to our former home and, while it's depressing how shit it looks at the moment, it is always nice to be able to go and see Filbert Street before every home game if you want to. Plus people can still use the same pubs, shops etc nearby.
Larry_LCFC Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 I agree about wembley. Nice experience but I'd hate to play in a big stadium every week. Feels too set back and detached for me liking. I'd hate to play in the Olympic Stadium aswell. Think work can still be done at the KP to make it more personalised to us, but we won the title there and that makes it home if nothing else.
Guest Bilo Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 I'd like to see the place get a bit more character - paint the grey concrete in the concourses, make the extension aesthetically interesting if/when it comes and a few more nods to our history outside the stadium such as a statue or two.
leicesterseddon Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 Feels more like home than it did a few years ago certainly. Unfortunately though until the ground design is changed/it starts falling apart it will still feel like just another Millennium-era generic concrete bowl for me. Also I have to say that if they got rid of 'Hey Jude' and goal music it might make it feel more like a football ground
Strokes Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 Not yet, probably would with a bit of tweaking here and there. Thinking outside the box, they could maybe try swapping the family stand and the Kop.
Wymsey Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 A decent ground in a not bad location. Shame about lack of local match day parking spaces for some and bad traffic management after games.

Sol thewall Bamba Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 Not many other grounds (if any) can say they've seen a team win the top three leagues in 8 years. It's home
whetstonefox Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 What's scary is that anyone under 20 will barely be able to remember anything than the KP being our home!
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 We became Champions of England there. It's home now.
The Railway Man Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 I never thought it would be but after last season it's now one of the most special places there will ever be, our connection will always be those amazing days and winning the championship there.

Why's that scary? People that think Filbert Street was better are showing their age and unwillingness to accept change. Move with the times!

Ted Maul Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 It feels more like home than it did a few years ago, and I think that will get stronger as we witness more great moments there. Imagine having: -A city centre ground located right next to our traditional home -42,000 seats with an extra tier making it fairly unique -Cladding/brickwork on the outside to cover the exposed concrete and make it look good -A statue or two (Ranieri will be the obvious choice when he eventually leaves) -Pictures of our greatest moments and history around the outside and concourses -Safe standing in the kop (if the laws are relaxed) With the history we have already made there, and probably the consistently loudest home atmosphere in the country, that would be a home we could be really proud of…
Fox92 Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 We won the top flight for the first time ever there... it's home. Just needs to be made a bit more "Leicester" now - statue or two, more recognition of our history etc

I'm not a massive fan of statues but I think CR deserves one.
fuchsntf Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 Hasnt it, or isnt it...the stories, the history thst has been made at any Stadium, that makes it home...Filbert street was the great cup runs, the classic big games we had there, plus the home players who had games where they strutted their stuff, which fans can still remember the history of it. To be honest, I reckon our KP was the stage of our great moments in our modern history, it is home...It wouldnt go a miss if the council partnered the club owners to improve the area.

It was more reference to how time flies by and that quite a lot of our fans have only ever known the KP, than which was the better ground. Anyway I do move with the times I own a Nokia!
davieG Posted 10 August 2016 Posted 10 August 2016 More importantly does Filbert Fox feel like it's home?
