Completely disgusted.

Really do not think the ref was anywhere near up there with Jon Moss (x2) and 'my mate is the ref', but the Portogese playacting was really annoying and also nearly all our set pieces around their box ended with what felt like an auto freekick comitted by Huth even when he did nothing. The only weird yellow card was the one Porto got for a completely accidentially hand ball. I was thinking we could use that Layun fellow until he tried to get Slimani sent off with the most absurd playacting I have seen in a long time; really wish you could get banned for that.

He was incredible, not just in his over-fussiness about everything, his bizarre delaying of awarding us a free-kick when he signalled advantage when they had the ball, but his best moment was sprinting 20 yards like Road Runner to attend an innocuous run of the mill incident where both players were getting up and getting on with the game as though he was about to stop a brawl. Even the crowd just laughed at that.

It became laughable in the end, he is like this in every game hes officiated, so it is to be expected, he does give it both ways though but the amount of diving from Porto was ridiculous and he gave them literally everything.

I was, yes, but I don't count that frankly because I believe completely that that was fixed. I felt cheated. Gary Parker getting sent off for taking a quick free kick still sets me off ranting.

But this was something else entirely. This wasn't one man against Leicester. This was one man against the sport.

You had to mention that didn't you - I'm bloody fuming now :revenge:

Inclined to agree with the rest of it though - he was bloody awful but sadly not on the scale to attract attention from UEFA for it. I would say that the ref (Greek?) for the Bruges game was also poor - they should have had at least 3 straight reds IMO.

yeah that was pretty incredible.

there was a moment when he went to blow for a free kick to them because their player stumbled as mahrez was closing him down but he didn't actually fall over so the ref didn't blow his whistle despite raising it to his lips. kinda summed up his idea of a foul.

He was terrible. You could tell it got to a point where he stopped handing out yellow cards because he couldn't remember who he'd booked already.

Based on the way he refereed the game, Slimani definitely should have gone for a late challenge he made while on a booking.

He lost complete control and set an awful precedent at the start of the game and followed through with it. Porto were falling over at any opportunity and he fell for it at every opportunity.

I can't imagine he's refereed many games where the team likes to hassle people as much as we do though.

There was one moment when someone clattered into Mahrez and he came sprinting over and then backed off because the lad was already booked.

There was one moment when there was a tackle infront of us and both players ended up on top of each other and he came belting it from about 20 yards away blowing his whistle to stop the 'fight' lol the sarcastic 'ooooh's made me giggle.

Sadly to go against everyone and watching on tv only, I thought he reffed it ok.

There were plenty of scrappy moments and the odd dive but apart from one Layun dive that he gave a foul for the vast majority of his other decisions were about right..

I was more angry at Porto for moaning at any decision against them and constant play acting !

It was more than just the play-acting, it was the constant interruption of the game for petty infringements. I don't know whether the referee had a secret wish to be a stationmaster or a lead instrumentalist with the London Philharmonic. But he was forever blowing his whistle and waving his card.

In you relate the game to the number of stoppages it's a relief it wasn't stopped to save the players inflicting further assaults on each other. and yet in truth I wouldn't even call the exchanges "passionate".

Of course I don't know the European definition of "passion" but if yesterday's game was unruly enough to get him excited God knows how he'd cope with a nubile Chinese or a horny milf from Beaumont Leys. .

Good referees don't need to brandish yellow cards like a lame attempt to stiffle the plague and the very best do all they can to let a game flow. So much is dealt with quietly off the ball - and it's usually enough to get the players respect and even their own contribution to the flow of a game.

The old adage "You hardly notice a good referee" is so true and the pedantic types should ask themselves why it is that the unnoticed refs so often have a much easier time and with far less controversy.

Yesterday it was not about the rights or wrongs of individual decisions, it was about the constant interruption spoiling the drama. If he'd done it at the cinema he'd have kicked out.

Can't think of anything more annoying than players diving and rolling about to get players sent off. Should be punished with 5 mins in a cage with Was for being such a bunch of fairies. The thing is they are a bloody good side, with very good players so why do they need to cheat??

Why doesn't UEFA start banning players that do it?

With the refs it is worrying if he's one of their best.

It was a bit stop start and the referee wasn't great (he was shit) but I've felt far more offended by other referees - David Elleray about 15 years ago when we got cheated out of the league cup against Chelsea and that twat at the west ham game @ home last season spring to mind.

Oh and 93'  Swindon at Wembley - whoever that ref was, still winds me up if I think about it for too long!
