pleatout Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Laurie Cunningham. He was so far ahead of everyone else on the pitch he looked pants at times. I never seen 21 players and 3 officials stop and watch a Leicester player before or since.

Or the 11, yes 11 match ban for shattering David Geddis's jaw.

I made the point before matey.... maybe Kante isn't the BEST individual player we've seen in play in a City shirt, but he's surely got to be the most influential player the club has ever had. He was one of the lynchpins (maybe THE lynchpin) of a team that won the top flight for its only time in its history.

Been a fan for 25+ years and he was the best in his position in all that time. Fully expect him to end up at Real Madrid. Hopefully ndidi will mean we can stop talking about him one day! We'll never stop talking about him Negative or Positive

Guest Col city fan Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Might surprise people but I suggest that the best player the club has ever had is Cambiasso. Not when he was in a City shirt (which was the point I always made), but throughout his career, an absolutely world class footballer.

He was a very average player that managed to get himself sent off and left his teammates high and dry. I mention Middlesboro, 5-0 down at half-time as I recall. I'm sure we could have done with a lot less of that sort of spirit, fight and loyalty.
Anish Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 For their times at City, it has to be a close call between Mahrez and Kante. Both world class in their own right but Kante is clearly the most influential player we've had whilst Mahrez is a magician and technically the most gifted player I've ever seen since following City since 1993. For their contributions to Leicester over a number of years, the O'Neill era deserve respect especially Lennon, Izzet and Elliott. Heskey was a funny one, on his day he was outstanding but never scored enough goals for us.
the fox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 The reason kantè is considered the best player in this club's history by a lot of people here is because of 2 things. 1- we struggled after he left. Kantè was a great player. There is no doubt about that. But, people seem to over value him because we are loosing and it is easy to say he made the formation work because he is the only player missing from last season. 2- the lack of a good replacement. Amartey/king ( even though amartey is much improved) are not exactly great. And compare that to the Levels kantè was giving and you will know that kantè value was a little inflated because of the replacement. I don't really think that he is the best player in our club's history for some reasons like: 1. Played only 1 season 2. Left us with no hesitation and refused to put the club's making history a priority over his personal career. 3- and would people really be proud to call him the best to ever play for the club after he made it (the club) just a steppingstone to further his ambition instead of making the club a big one in England. I don't think he deserves to be ahead of player that kept loyal to the team and sacrificed years of their career to shape this club. I am Sorry But, there is no why a one season player will take the title of the best in the club's history. But that is just me.

Very important to our team last season Col but I just can't pick him personally (something about loyalty I think ? ) but bless him we move on anyway.

When he was on form he was fantastic to watch, but goodness he could be frustrating.
Durnerz Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Kante easily, a class player who could be the best in the world in his position. We haven't had that at this club in my memory. Other's include Heskey, Mahrez, Cambiasso and Izzet.
dynamark Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Keith Weller but if I'm honest Alan Woollet. Mahrez and Kante have been more than decent.

Imagine what they would have been like on the playing surfaces now? Anyway, back to the question - for sheer talent with a ball and a wand of a left foot , I doubt worthington can be beaten. for being the best the quality in their position, it's likely banks or Shilton talk of kante is a tad premature. it may turn out to be true in a few years. Have we had a thread of best 11 in their positions?

dynamark Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 For the younger viewers we had four players in an England team once .Shilts Whitworth Weller and Frankie W. Frank used to do a trick running on to the pitch where he would flick the ball back against his trailing leg and pop it over his head back in front of him I spent months trying to do it nearly had a hernia.Good man on a night out as well Birch wheeled him out a few weeks ago and sadly he looked a bit worse for wear.Classy player
MattCan Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Ballon d'Or voters, France Football, UEFA, Journalists Worldwide, Fans everywhere, Players of the Premier League, BBC, The Guardian, Marca, and many others, they can't be all wrong. It is the one and only: MAHREZ-MAGIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He scored 50 odd goals in 350 plus games, gave everything for the club yet you find fault, it must of hurt when he scored that winner against Derby at Wembley.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 I would take the Walsh years of loyalty over some of the money grabbing cvnts we've had Wise springs to mind the little boz eyed fvcktard
Barky Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Mahrez has put in the best performances I've ever seen from a player in a Leicester shirt. Kante now looks the better player but in a Leicester shirt Mahrez was better, so it has to be Mahrez. After those pair honourable mentions to Izzet, Lennon and Heskey.
