m4DD0gg Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Hard one. There was Junior Lewis think he was the best but there some honorable mentions for Momo Sylla, Elvis Hammond and Jeff Sclupp.

You could see the quality - great footballing intelligence - unfortunately, typical footballer intelligence as his appearance on 'A Question of Sport' was testimony to. I remember my one trip to Gay Meadow or whatever it was called. Thumped 4-1 and Draper absolutely ran the show. Perhaps we should consider which players in our history have been world class. IMO Shilton, Banks, Lineker, Cambiasso, possibly Kante and potentially Mahrez. None of them were my choices though.

Been a fan for 25+ years and he was the best in his position in all that time. Fully expect him to end up at Real Madrid. Hopefully ndidi will mean we can stop talking about him one day! Do we still have a sell-on clause in effect? Time to further cash in!

Meadow Lane - Gay Meadow was Shrewsbury.
Stadt Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Typically goalscorers, tricky wingers and playmakers tend to always be popular in these threads but Kanté was the best tackler I've ever seen, combined with a strong footballing brain and his ability to drag us up the pitch it'd have to be him. He's a unique player because I've not seen anybody else do what he can, win tackle after tackle regardless of the opponent's body shape, speed or strength he'd just get the ball and we'd be on our way.

But now we've got Mahrez who is even better on his day. But for consistent performances I'd go for Kante. Nobody else is as good as him in that position; he is superhuman. Gordon Banks without doubt
BenTheFox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 1. Kante. The only undisputedly world class player we've had play for us in recent times anyway. 2. Mahrez. Box of tricks, pulls off some magical moments. 3. Cambiasso. So much class. Achieved so much in the game and even in the later years of his career had the drive to lead us to the great escape. 4. Izzet. Fantastic player, chipped in with many goals from midfield and had one hell of a shot on him. 5. Schmeichel. Really has developed into a top keeper. Great leadership qualities too!
Gerard Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 1 hour ago, murphy said: Steve Walsh. He had that Bothamesque quality of dragging the team up along with him and being a much more valuable and influential player than his actual ability should allow. Also Lennon. Everything went through him, he was always available or on the ball. I also remember his match saving intervention in the play off final against Palace, tearing off like a ginger rocket to thwart a nailed on Palace breakaway goal. Mark Draper. Brilliant in a rubbish team. Really thought he would go on to be an England regular but fell away when he joined Villa. Can't bring myself to say Kante. Didn't want to come and couldn't wait to leave. His role here brought us rewards beyond our dreams but can only be considered a cameo. He was a beacon of class in a Brian Little team of cloggers. I remember Jurgen Klinsmann's first season at Tottenham and he said "I'd never heard of Mark Draper before but there he was running the game like a young Lothar Matthaus. I think he told Bayern Munich to go and sign Draper a season later if the newspaper was to be believed.
Clever Fox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 It has to be Cambiaso. So talented and so much passion and quality. From the older days Worthy and Weller.

Think i'd go with this apart from Heskey instead of Schmeichel. But then if I'm bringing Heskey in Vardy might also deserve to be in the top 5
Guest Col city fan Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Cambiclasso, followed by Amartey.... Really...probably Kante I'm afraid.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Lennon from OGod era Lineker from Wallace era (although Steve Lynex was my personal favourite) Walsh from every era Mahrez From current era

Strokes Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Impossible to pick just one over the 25 years I've been watching. Steve 'tommo' Thompson - Possibly the best striker of a ball I've ever seen at Leicester. Steve Walsh - the most inspirational captain I've ever seen at any club. Julian Joachim - a bit of a wasted career but what an electric player for City. Scotty Taylor - gutted when his career got cut short through injury, such a busy player and dead ball specialist. Muzzy - Class had everything. Gerry Taggart - No-nonsense take no shit type of defender. Emile Heskey - Was excellent for us, if he wasn't scoring he was teeing up or being a battering ram for Cottee. Andy King - has never let us down, always puts in a shift, three league titles. Absolute legend. Kasper Schmichael - Has been so solid and has grown with us into one of the worlds best keepers. I'll leave the rest of the current set up for now but they will all be legends for last season.
Livid Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Mahrez for me. The best player in a Leicester shirt I think Roberto Mancini has to be in with a shout, not so much for the four games he had with us but the rest of his career.
Jattdogg Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Kante without a doubt. Mahrez is not too far behind. I think everyone here has summed up why. But for me these are one season wonders right now. Mahrez has more to prove still and kante well we know how that goes. When you get into longevity then you start to look at heskey, izzet etc.
grumpy old git Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 For any of you that had never seen them play Weller & Worthington get my vote by a mile.
sylofox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 Two layers for very different reasons. Shame player one was not more like player two. 1Kante 2 Steve Walsh
