If all people have to worry about in their lives is thinking what other fans are going to think about us after a chant then I wouldn't mind having their life, obviously have nothing else to worry them. Couldn't you say that about football results as well then? Why get upset or worried about there are other things in life? This is one question about one thing that may or may not annoy some people. My argument is that pride in your club has always been paramount. That's the only reason to support a club as opposed to just watching a football match because the ground is near your house. It's hard to have pride in your club if the fanbase is generally knowledgeless, or childish, or just plain embarrassing. This sort of chant highlights those flaws in our fanbase. Plenty of other chants, traditional and new, that aren't embarrassing, that we can sing, but most are ignored by the majority when they are started. There's even a perfectly non-stupid chant that's almost exactly the same as the one in question (even if it is the same rubbish tune that's used for everything, but I digress).
Ashley Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 This is actually get boring now. Certain people need to stop being elitist. Change the ****ing words to Premier League Champions you'll never sing that. Happy days.
FuchingKante Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 "You'll" implies future, so its fine to sing it to teams like Burnley who have little to no chance of winning it again

Spot on ...exactly what I was going to say....you can then sing it to Spurs Everton Liverpool etc.....and it's the truth !

Raj Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 Champions Of League One,Championship AND Premier League...You'll never sing that!!!!!
Fox92 Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 You'd never get United or Liverpool turning up singing this shite

Take it you didn't attend the games last season then in which they did sing it to us, as did arsenal and Chelsea. Chelsea now sing, where's your European Cup to us and they will do again Saturday.

Can't remember them singing it at all. Chelsea will sing their European one, I know, said that in the other thread. Chelsea sang it at us at Stamford Bridge earlier in the season
Poznan34 Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 It did seem a bit odd at the start of the season, when teams were applauding/congratulating us, to then try to wind up the same fans over how they won't do it themselves. Most football fans were cheering us on last season and enjoyed our success. Seemed strange to then try and wind them up about it.

Er yeah, because they've won it and we haven't. That's the point of the song.

Guest Bilo Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 Champions of England, you weren't ****ing born. Only for use at Derby, where being an arrogant bastard needs to be compulsory.
Al-aLondon-Foxile Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 I really couldn't care less what anyone thinks, I saw my team win THE league last season and I shall sing and shout about it for the rest of my life! My office at work is a shrine to our recent history with both champions flags hanging in honour of the championship season and then of course last year. Maybe I'm immature but approaching 50 years of age I never thought this would ever happen and it bugs me that some folk want to be so contrived and cool about how we celebrate it. **** um all, do what makes you feel good
FraserSorensen Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 Never seen so many people miss the point this spectacularly. I much preferred the tongue in cheek version ('we'll sing it till May') or to the big boys ('Champions of League 1, you'll never sing that'). At least it's better than Hull's current version (We know what we are, City of Culture). Embarrassing.

sylofox Posted 10 January 2017 Posted 10 January 2017 A Chelsea mate asked me today if I could get him a derby ticket. I asked him why his reply. "local rivalrise are great. To here you lot belt out Campion's of England as you will. And yes they did it once but can't reply because you are champions would be great". Yes hes old school head hunter but like us old ones hes chilled about us. He then said do better than Leeds. Do the CL final to shut the northern cvnts up. He's also well loved up that we have done the round of 16. I cant put what he said but hes happy we lasted longer than spuds.
