fazzyfox Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Newcastle are surely confident of gaining promotion, I doubt Benitez would sign him on a permanent deal just for the current half season in the championship unless he thought he was capable of being a useful premier league player too. I don't think Lawrence would take less than a three year deal and he would want to be on close to current wages so I doubt he's just a short term consideration for Newcastle. Having said that some of their signings at the start of the season don't particularly look like long term premier league players.

The Geordies have spent some big bucks on average players. I do wonder whether we should hold on to the summer though, he might be 'our' future if he improves further. sounds familiar

Babylon Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Bid from Burnley rejected. Club were happy to sell him... but have now changed our stance. Sounds familiar. Ah well... suppose he'll go in the summer and be replaced by some expensive overrated foreigner.

I would love to have him back here this month. I got derided for suggesting it a few weeks ago but he is a number 10 that could help us try something different.

Max Power Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Surely we'd have to recall him to sell him so why can't we recall him to sit on the bench and watch Shinji fall over?
Ric Flair Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Just now, Babylon said: Think he has to stay at Ipswich. Yeah we don't have a recall option on him, we'd have to negotiate with Ipswich to get him back. Probably have to pay more than we paid for him to get him back haha.

STUHILL Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I was against recalling him, but after us not signing any number 10, then what harm could it do. Especially if Ulloa leaves too. Can see him playing the Okazaki role of secondary striker. Scored some great goals for Ipswich and obviously on a high. Worth a go I reckon!
Riot Van Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I'd definitely have him back here. Ranieri wouldn't play him though so whats the point?
Nick Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 James Duckerhas all the detail on news from Burnley: Strange goings on with Tom Lawrence and Leicester. Leicester have been keen to sell the 23-year-old former Manchester United winger this month after telling him he had no future at the club. But they now appear to have made a complete about-turn and are saying he can't go, which led to them rebuffing an approach from Burnley. So, barring another dramatic turn of events, Lawrence, who has impressed on loan at Ipswich Town this season, looks like he'll remain a Leicester player for now.

Ted Maul Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 Our stance could have been that we were happy to sell at the start of the window- since then, he's scored about 6 goals, so I'm not surprised we've changed our minds.

What the hell is going on at Leicester. We seem to have no idea what we are doing. Telling Ulloa he can leave, then saying he couldn't. Now the same with Lawrence. Who is in charge of this shambles?! Hope the owners are seeing this and will have a shake-up in the summer!
Ric Flair Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 I'm more disturbed we considered him to have no future here.

The snippets we've heard all month point to an incredibly incoherent mess behind the scenes. Who is making decisions? What are they based on? Do we have a plan?

SecretPro Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 May as well flog Kaputska too for all the chances he's getting.

On the basis of previous performance I'm not... reality is he's impressed more than he had before. So a change of mind is fair enough... but there is no point if we're never going to use the fella. You just end up with another pissed off player who feels un loved and badly handled.
AjcW Posted 31 January 2017 Posted 31 January 2017 But the club after him, are a club doing better than us at the minute, who we happen to be playing tonight.... I bet if they did sign him they wouldn't be afraid to play him against us, but we wouldn't do the same in a million years, it's not in our nature as a club sadly.
