That said, the circumstances for the pointing fingers are very similar to how we're singling out players now, he was playing in a mildly defunct and toxic Chelsea squad. The level we're playing at now i.e lower premier league level (positive spin for 'relegation battle') he'd fit right in. I think he would start immediately and give Simpson some time for reflection. He ticks the 'Champion's League experience' button. (dramatic pause for effect).......It's a gerimin for me. No long termer, but a complete and utter quick fix, but that's what we need, right?

I see him as an RB alternative. The games we need to focus on, i.e Burnley, Swansea, Hull, Palace, Sunderland, Watford, he gives us a better chance than we currently have.

LCCFox96 Posted 28 January 2017 Posted 28 January 2017 He doesn't really solve the whole long term ageing defence thing people want to see addressed but for a short term signing on a reported free transfer I think he'd make a solid addition to our CB and RB options. The guy is clearly quality - 400 appearances at Chelsea and a horde of medals is impressive - so hopefully he helps tighten up the defence if we do get him. Got Russia written all over it though I think.
