Leicester players including Jamie Vardy and Wes Morgan suffered with a stomach bug in 2-2 FA Cup draw at Derby County

Leicester's efforts in the 2-2 FA Cup draw at Derby were affected by a number of players suffering from a stomach bug.

Wes Morgan, Robert Huth, Danny Simpson and Jamie Vardy were among those to battle against significant ill effects.

Leicester believe the issue will have cleared up by Tuesday's trip to Burnley but the virus appeared to undermine performance levels at Pride Park, when Morgan's header four minutes from time averted an upset.

Claudio Ranieri said: 'It was very important not to lose, we fought a lot to equalise. It was important for our confidence – now we have another match it is okay. 'I love it when we show this character – after this anything is possible.

'My mind now goes to Burnley because it is a very important match.'

Riyad Mahrez is expected to come back into the starting line up at Turf Moor having been sent on as a second half substitute against Derby less than 48 hours after returning from the Africa Cup of Nations.

'I was so in doubt to play with Riyad because he was so tired,' Ranieri admitted. 'At the beginning he doesn’t want to come but he played very well.'

If they are ill then why start them?

surely one of huth or Morgan could have been left out?

musa could have played I/o vardy

good that they all had a cuddle togetherness after wes' equaliser so those that didn't have it can now catch it!

Is Benalouane that bad that when the two centrebacks who have played all season are Ill that you still don't get a look in? I mean, it seems like Wes has played non stop for about 3 years. Bizarre really.

I think Wes could be in a coma and we would still put him in the team.

Why has this come out late today and nothing about it before or straight after the game?! Seems a bit of a nothing story

Its reading stuff like this from our fans and other topics that make me embarrassed to be linked to them. We have some right lunatics in here havent we?

I dont know about this stomach bug thing but it would make sense that we kept it quiet and played through it. To be fair it was Derby who looked on their ass for most of the game and even the commentators were saying Derby looked tired as teh game wore on.

Hes not that great.

Obviously has no future at the club and happy to limp along and take the money, seems a popular type and its not his fault he didn't sign himself.

His transfer fee may be subject to appearances..or at least I hope so. Assuming he's on a modest 15K per week he's cost us around 1 million per first team appearance if not.

Stomach bug pffffffffff fed up of lame excuses for poor performances, if it was that bad they wouldn't of been able to play.

So who would have played and covered Wes Huth and Simpson?

You dont rate our recruitment? We have been linked to all sorts of players over the last 6 months from Keane at Burnley to Sampdorias Pedro Pereira. Those two are younger lads but we have also recently if the media stories are to be believed went in for Francesco Acerbi. If clubs want to hold us to ransom and demand mickey mouse money then we dont need to go OTT. We had something similar with Mahrez and Vardy last season. We managed to keep hold of them. We are now going through it with Ulloa as are telling clubs to pay up of eff off.

i wont go on about the bargains we have picked up in recent seasons who are now worth multi million pounds if sold in todays market either....
