I don't think we are ever allowed to properly sell out due to restrictions put on by the MET. Hence your allocation 2.900, the away end holds 4,000.

irishfoxkev Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 It's the joekers post appeared on a previous thread a week or so ago and I think there was reference to it being posted a few years ago...Think it's really funny and can picture Danny Dyer or similar saying it in his hard cockney accent.....
London 'Wall Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 As for the game we will naturally be up for it having seen off Bournmuff and Watford, neither of which are ‘real’ premiership clubs, that said both are doing OK in that division. Personally I fear the side that beat Derby more than your regular first team, them forwards look a bit rapid. One advantage we have will be the crowd, it can be a fairly toxic atmosphere that some of your players may not have experienced before. I know they have played at Anfield and Old Trafford and the like, this will be different in terms of the vitriol and abuse that may come their way.
London 'Wall Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 A recent home game against Charlton (Train Spotters), they threw smoke bombs into our crowd, we smoke 'em.
The Fox Covert Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Should be a salutary experience for any of our players who think they are Billy Big Time after last season. I hope Claudio picks the players who are strongest mentally and won't let the atmosphere of the Den get to them. I was rather shocked to see all the same old names on the team sheet on Sunday after the fringe players put up quite a decent performance against Derby, considering that they haven't been playing together as a team regularly. Hope that if the likes of Morgan and Vardy actually play, they remember where they came from and that for years nobody thought they were anything special. Can we lend you some of our under-performing stars for a while? It might wake their ideas up a bit once they realise what sort of place they will end up in if they carry on playing like a bunch of League 1 journeymen.

I'll have a go: The thing is most of the old school "hard man" fans come out for the big games wearing Stone Island jackets (the mark of a real hooligan), yet when it comes to the prospect of actual violence they shit themselves. I myself was a prominent member of the YBS (Yorkshire Building Society) when it first began. It was always the younger lads causing a nuisance and we were really up for a fight. These days when I see those same lads (I'm 30 which is very old), I hear they all have wives and kids and as such don't bother with fighting anymore. It pisses me off that you get the so called "old school hooligans" sitting in the family stand with their kids in their Stone Island jackets, yet when push comes to shove and violence is imminent, they say "I need to stay out of prison to provide for my family". That's all well and fine, but don't wear Stone Island jackets to demonstrate that you're a hooligan if you are no more than a has-been. Most of these so called "lads" don't even shout at other teams' fans and I would be willing to bet that out of 50 lads (it's never 200 like people say) only a dozen at most will fight, the rest fu** off back to the pub and even have the cheek to say they had just been fighting!

I know everyone loves their own club and everyone thinks their club is special, Millwall is different though, the ethic of the support, the area we were born into, and if you're old enough like me the era you were born into makes us different. This isn't about the rep, it's about a very specific part of London, the people of the area and a club that still represents us, and us them.

ARM1968 Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Always had a soft spot for the crazy fuchers of Millwall. Mad as a big of frogs but good people at heart - like most of us.

Bluetintedspecs Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Got some fond memories of trips to the Old Den, pwoppa nawty and so fkn Cockney it hurts Weirdest was a mini fridge being thrown out of the flats near the car park at back of the ground, how it didn't kill someone I'll never know. Salt of the earth and all loveable like Danny Baker.

Kaputska - Kraków derby Wasyl - Anderlecht v Standard Amartey - Copenhagen Derby Benny - Lyon v St Etienne Musa - Moscow Derby Some of the foreign lads have faced hostile before
London 'Wall Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Possibly, I wouldn't know about Copenhagen football wise, all I know is other clubs supporters and teams comment on it. Paul Jewell - "Every time I've been at Millwall there's been complete vile abuse for 90 minutes towards me and our players." From Saturdays at Cold Blow Lane when we'd all come down to cheer To memories of Wembley, the Millenium Stadium and here. The true fans stand with lions pride against the minority that jeer. And show again through slings and bows no foe shall we fear. No roof could ever contain the noise that we will soon create. We need no drums and no horns to create an atmosphere that's faked. We live and bleed Each chant our creed A loyalty innate. In cups or leagues our team we'll lead with lungs you can't deflate. Cos you hesitated when you bought your ticket and you know you did. And as you travel south butterflies will fill your belly like a nervous kids. For anyone entering the Lions Den each step is tentative. Unless of course you are the Lion And that Den is where you live. Let em come.
burleighfox Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Going to this. My so called friend who help sort my Swansea ticket has conned me into this one. What a guy.

TJB-fox Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 The new den atmosphere? What atmosphere? There's nobody there. When I've been in recent years the classic 'hard man millwall' tag has been an utter embarrassment. In fact it's probably the safest away day I've been to in years- just a few utter morons down in that left hand side trying to provoke something out of nothing. There's no atmosphere at all- Milwall away being 'Milwall away' is a complete myth

There's no atmosphere at all- Milwall away being 'Milwall away' is a complete myth You don't need a full ground for an atmosphere, and I'm not talking about 'hard man' where did I mention this? In fact in an earlier post I said this isn't about rep, which now days is just one dimensional media reporting and some of the younger generation latching on to the past. It is the safest ground in the country and has been for a number of years, you will know if you come by train there is a dedicated covered secure walkway from South Bermondsey station to the away end. As far as I can see there are always fans of the opposition that shout and gesture jester to each other, it doesn't really mean anything.
