Its a Horrible vile area of London, idiot fans who get off on having the reputation they have which is basically to be universally despised. Imagine being proud of coming from a shit hole, having horrible fans, a rubbish football team and thinking that they are badder than they are!!! It really is hilarious! They wish they were West Ham but will never be the muppets. Bermondsey, Peckham etc. have their rough estates but there is plenty going on there these days. Foodie markets, Bermondsey Beer Mile, roof top bars and craft beer pubs, Ministry of Sound, The Printworks is now a huge gig/club venue, the Old Biscuit Factory is an arts hub, Borough Market, Tower Bridge, Tate Modern, Southwark Park, the Hop Exchange, the old docks (Canada Water, Greenland Dock), Shad Thames, the rows of Victorian terraces around New Cross are lovely and, of course, Millwall FC. Not bad for a shithole.

I appreciate being allowed on to your forum to give a slightly different view of the place of my birth and youth and the club from that area. If you have 13 mins to spare give this a whirl, the author of a book about Millwall being interviewed, worth a look IMO.

All very dull.
Voll Blau Posted 15 February 2017 Posted 15 February 2017 Idiots in "being unable to realise that all cities have good and bad areas" shocker.

London 'Wall Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I’m not coming on here to gloat or even comment on the game, for those that went and said we don’t have an atmosphere at the Den……….Of course I’m biased however even before we scored I thought it was quality.

Completely agree the home atmosphere was fantastic and probably helped you nick it... ... what I don't understand is why all the anger to our fans at the end... you had beaten us fair and square yet you are all rather angry and if it wasn't for the thin line of stewards "holding you back" well I'm sure handbags would have been swinging! Just thought you should have enjoyed the moment not been bad winners!
Tuna Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Some of Millwall support is absolutely vile and demeans you as a club.
KFS Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 How can you be proud of your dirty, litter ridden ground, flat cap wearing full grown men-child fans, your shit song book and your technically shocking players? Even though you won yesterday, you offered nothing all round and but for our toothless attacking display and momentary lapse of concentration from our reserve team; I think ultimately you showed why you are where you are. A fan base more proud of being 'scary' rather than wanting more from your players- League One is where you belong
purpleronnie Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 The sounded like an American football crowd, no real songs just a loud noise, a bit weird.

The true hard core support of around 10k get equally pissed off with some of the fans that only turn out for the big games and their antics. The whole business of going towards the away end and ‘giving it large’ is a nonsense. I think the way the game ended with the late goal gave the drama that resulted with people coming onto the pitch. Most of us enjoyed the moment from the stands.

A fan base more proud of being 'scary' rather than wanting more from your players- League One is where you belong Can’t help but be proud of our dirty litter ridden ground, it’s ours and it is what it is. I actually prefer the old one, that was dirtier and rougher than the current. As it goes I wear a flat cap, Barbour, Irish linen, light blue with a slight herringbone paten, quite understated really. Man child? I’m way too old to be that. Yeah, we don’t have a song book, doesn’t stop us creating an atmosphere though, I can tell you the monotonal ‘monks chant’ particularly at away grounds can go on for ages. I thought the technically shocking players did OK, before yesterday’s game we were 6th in league 1, so we’re not going to set the world alight. Interesting the first long ball we knocked your defender chested it down took a touch, instant control, and laid it off, that doesn’t happen most weeks in league 1, the defenders head back and we look for second ball. I also thought that Fred playing up front was a handful for your defenders. Remember our total spend on transfers in the last 10+ years is 1.5 million. In the main we’re happy with our lot, as I suspect you are with you are with your club despite your recent results.
Cadno'r Cymoedd Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Have no doubt there are some great Millwall fans etc. And having been to Borough Market and several other locations on the list above can vouch for them as great places. But a significant minority still delight in the hooligan tag and want to run on the pitch and taunt and fight with opposing support? Don't get it sorry. Moronic.
Fox92 Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I was lower tier - about three rows in. Stayed till the end. Millwall invaded and then the bottles and coins started. Police and stewards were unable to control. I decided to leave when they brought the horses on. Got back on the bus and it was just as bad. We had to navigate past Millwall pubs in which we were getting bottles lobbed at us. Police had to literally barricade them in. Never seen anything like it. That was my third visit to the Den and it's never been that bad.

Guest Lako42 Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Sad wankers, all show as well. If those embarrassing chimps actually wanted to get to the away fans then they could have done....easily As it was they just wanted to make themselves look like total bellends.

burleighfox Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I too having thought about it am baffled by the response of the Millwall fans at the end who decided to face up to the away end in the manner they did. Fair play, they deserved the result and I really don't see much wrong with a fair natured pitch 'invasion' if you want to bask in the glory with fellow fans and get the chance to pat your idols on the back. Having said that, there seemed to be some real anger towards us lot on the back of them winning the game and there was no need for it. There may have been a catalyst that set off such actions but I have real doubts about it. The biggest concern is that it wasn't just a few, it was pretty much the entire section of fans at that end of the pitch that were hell bent on goading and riling us and that many had young kids around them acting in the same manner. Pretty appalling if you ask me, but I suppose they have reputation they do for a reason.
