if the players do want ranieri gone then they arent going to like the fact he's staying for at least the rest of the season.

vichai has called their bluff but its a bit like poking a crying baby, nothing good will come of it.

At least we're going down on our terms.

support claudio !

I hope  he stays for life

And there it is....some support the manager, some say you can't alienate the players and what you end up with is an impasse and total disharmony.  Smacks of poor leadership all round to me.

It seems clear that the detailed preparation for each game last season paid dividends. Players are on record as saying they knew how the opposition were likely to play in some detail, how their opposite number was going to try and get the better of them and also what weaknesses they had for us to exploit.

i expect that every Monday the players were keen to get hold of their 'dossier' on the opposition so they could take in what it was they needed to do in order that the team could get a result the following weekend.

if some of the players have have lost respect for the manager then they really won't be bothered to do this properly. In fact, it is doubtful that they would have put in nearly enough effort into this aspect from day 1. And what about the manager?  Is he as motivated as he was last year. Is he putting in the same amount of effort ? He probably is now but it may well be too late.

Footballers are not  generally  the brightest out there. To study anything must take rather more mental effort than they probably want to bother with.  if they care about relegation  then there is hope but I fear that without all eleven players being on the same page it won't matter. One man not doing his job will affect the whole thing. Claudio needs to rescue his reputation and pick those who will do the whole job over the next 3 months. anyone who he feels is not listening intensely enough should be dropped. whoever they are.

I find it odd that you have blind faith in the manager who won the title but not the players.

In all seriousness, do you not consider it all possible that he's mismanaged in some ways and is causing this friction?

Not only that, his insistance on playing 4 4 2 when it's clearly not working. I mean people are forgetting how bad we actually look and it's not wholly down to lack of effort. The personnell, shape and set up is an absolute joke.

Absolutely.

Can only see this ending one way now.

Where have the owners and board been in all this? OK,  no need for micromanaging but it is failing very badly not to realise what's happening on the shop floor and deal with it at first opportunity.

The formation doesn't matter If the player's won't play. 442 would work fine if the players put in the same effort as last season.

Agree, the manager may be part of the issue. If you ask me, the main reason is money. So who's fault is that?

Though I wonder what effect Vardys book had..

I find it hard to believe Claudio has changed the training routine THAT much from last season. The team came to pre season out of shape compared to 12 months earlier so he cracked the whip presumably.

Nothing wrong with that, and the players aren't working hard enough in matches so he's upping the intensity in training.

If he was overworking them I think we would have quite a few injuries.

We have!...

Brain injuries!!

When it comes to dissent, which players are we speculating about?

did I just type that ?

Yes I did , that is enough to have loyalty for life from me

Guessing those saying it's the players and not Ranieri think Peter Taylor did the great job getting us top, but was ultimately let down by the players?

Or do we think the signings were shit, he destroyed the team spirit and lost the players?

Why would you want to speculate about things that could further harm the team. If you care about the club, try to unite not divide.

So what would you all do?

We won the league in may, arsenal and others come after our best striker. As I recall everyone wanted him to stay and we were all happy that the owners paid him his worth.

In hindsight it was a bad decision. It's put disharmony amongst the players and the dressing room is lost. Other cracks have appeared. And similar scenarios played out with other players.

It's inevitable really looking at it. How inept we were to think the team would be happy for their colleagues to get pay rises and not them. Would you be happy at work if that happened?

If we got a new manager, how would it change? Maybe they blame him for the pay disparity, but the owners know it wasn't his fault and are not willing to punish him for it. Jealousy is the problem. Some players will be dropped.

Further harm the team? funny, considering the content on here at present, have you read the will the owners leave thread? now that's some wonderful speculation.

I'm just trying to gauge which players we would be without if Ranieri actually takes a hard line and leaves them out.

Just wondering which players we'd be without and what kind of a difference it would make in the match day squads.

True, it will be interesting to see.

LCFC will never be accused of being bland.

Think the Sevilla game /s have been given up as a lost cause.. Ranieri said it's all about PL survival now!.. I expect a weakened team to be put out in Sevilla and the home leg will be a non event after we're slaughtered there!..

The line up against Liverpool will be the telling one!

Let's hope he follows through with his threat about dropping our chumpy champions else we are going down without a fight. Some spoilt players need a slap.

That's what I'm trying to work out! what is the 'weakened team' and does that include or not the players he's been loyal to?

This situation is insane.

Definitely the latter. He'll play the 'players that got us here' regardless of form and we'll get dicked unless there is a money-incentive. The players will really turn on Ranieri if they don't get picked, you can just tell.
