Drinky's role

Recommended Posts

Posted

He's not the quarterback he was last year, he's not a box-to-box dynamo, he's not a destroyer...

Is he going through a bit of a bad patch (9 months), has he been told to do something different?

What would you like to see him doing?

Personally, I like the N'didi destroyer and Drinky pinging long passes to Riyad/Vardy/Albrighton version.

He is very underrated defensively.

He's not been right since he lost his shit against Watford and got banned.

Something's not right. Shadow of his former self.

I think he look knackered. I think he's looked jaded all season to be honest. I'm afraid that yet again, it shows how cool it must be to be alongside the metronome that is Kante. When Drinkwater is expected to be THE top midfielder at the club, he doesn't get on so well imo.

He has more defensive responsibilities with no Kante. N'Didi is great but not as disciplined. He made some important challenges tonight, but he can't do it all.

He used to be fantastic defensively, recently i'd disagree, always seems to be in no man's land never close enough to his midfield opposition when they're around the edge of the box.

I think Drinky should be dropped and actually only plays because there is currently no alternative (for which we should thank our recruiting department). He refuses to assume his role as string puller, slows the game, loses often the ball and passes side or backwards most of the time. Defensively not great. Doesn't shoot, doesn't score. I don't buy the "carrying a knock" myth, as as you said, his form is terrible for months.

No can do for the moment, he'll start for the rest of the season where he is. Just hope his form will pick up a bit at some point.

Drinky's only ever good every other season.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear he goes in for an op as soon as we are out of the CL and safe in the BPL

quite clearly something not quite right simply by looking at how he runs

I'd drop him immediately if we had adequate alternatives but we have King and Amartey. He's been woeful since October bar Liverpool and Sevilla home. Misplaced passes, gives possession away cheaply and offers very little creativity.

Drinkwater is playing worse than Mahrez but he gets away with it on here.

A few of them looked as if they were in the Sun too long today. But DD has been very poor for a while now. I think it was a mistake to play him on Saturday against Everton. We really need to get two midfielders in the Summer.

Who would you have played instead?

Drinky of last year, tbh.

Really like him - think he's honest, hard working and a decent player. Wouldn't have started anyone else in his place. Just not not too sure of his current role.
