Leicester69 Posted 19 April 2017 Posted 19 April 2017 Interesting point. I normally sit at the back of the East Stand, in front of the TV gantry...so had to move for every CL game, no major issue, moved one block further towards the Kop, similar row. Against Bruges, Porto and Copenhagen my "usual" seats were back on sale a few days before the game, but I did notice they were occupied every game. The seats I relocated too generally had a lot of others who relocated too...but also had lots of people with passes/media badges etc on them...I commented on this post Seville at home, half the row to my right left after 75-80 mins and celebrated neither goal, the fella across the aisle from me was on his phone all night, I asked him where he got his ticket from and it was UEFA approved media, as were his four colleagues. Last night was the same...I sit on an aisle and we had people in and out of the game all night on phones/tablets etc clearly not interested in the game and clearly not City fans...one bloke in particular must have left 7-8 times and was pi**ing everyone off around us, add in all of the obvious tourist fans in that area of the ground (couldn't find seat, couldn't find row, in wrong block etc) and it really does grate! By 85 mins I bet there were 50-100 empty seats as plenty were leaving early...add to the 300 or so extra seats that looked like they were under the tarpaulin next to Madrid fans and it appears that hundreds and hundreds of genuine fans missed out...shame, but I do think this was largely out of the clubs hands, UEFA are the real culprits here!

Because otherwise it wouldn't be very corporate, I don't recall the away end having padded seats, a half time bar, tea/coffee etc. These fans aren't your normal away supporters, works the same for all teams, we have had the same at all games.

Same here. Gave up my seat on the half way line which ive had for nearly 40 years (equivalent at filbo) for a shit one in the corner only to see mongys sitting in my seat at half time that had purchased only a few days before. I thought the club were supposed to give the STHs first dibs to move back if returned by eufa. We wernt even given the chance after the STH date was up to find better seats nearer to our own before every Joe Soap had a go. Ticket office is a shambles in my opinion. Cock ups with season ticket renewals, Cl away tickets now this, all in the last 12 months

This is fair enough I guess, just bit of a sucker punch for those who missed out Genuine question here: Why do people leave 5/10 minutes before each half to get food or get home quicker? This was the biggest game in our history, why leave 10 minutes before half time to queue for food?

We did put 4 past a few in that season though - Walsall, Peterboro' to name a couple. And the Howard header - great scenes right there at the very end. Although it was a disappointment to be down there, still good memories! We drew 1-1. Always nice to go back and see Kasper score from a header.
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 19 April 2017 Posted 19 April 2017 Definitely neutrals and I had one of the 3 kids sat to our left on the front row. It is really disappointing that true fans have been priced out and the process is now such that either a) they are going to have to wait a long time to get back the chance of watching us on a regular basis or b) have to wait for us to be crap again.
stretch1965 Posted 19 April 2017 Posted 19 April 2017 My friends had to move from their seats in H Block just behind me and they were replaced with other city fans and when asked they wouldn't say where they got their tickets from. Two lads also sat on phones hardly looking up and came up after half time on 55mins and left 10 mins early. My mates were well pissed off
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 19 April 2017 Posted 19 April 2017 Neutrals are allowed to go to games.

The problem is that they ae taking up seats of Leicester supporters who have followed the club for 20 / 30 or 40 years or more who have been priced out. Definatley a feel of nepotism last night and in previous CL games.

However if I went to a game as a neutral, I would feel pretty crappy that I was taking the seat of a genuine fan. No problem with neutrals attending games, but denying genuine fans a chance to see their club in the biggest game in their history is out of order.

Definatley a feel of nepotism last night and in previous CL games. I can understand that, but to paraphrase a loveable Italian, 'we are (or at least were) Champions League man!' It's part and parcel of the competition that we have to give a % of tickets to UEFA for them to do with them what they please. They make an extraordinary amount of money from sponsors who want access to the games, either through staff, competitions or entertaining clients. The more tickets they give to sponsors, the happier the sponsor is, the more money goes back into the Champions League, and more prize money in the pot. We can't complain that we are in the biggest, most exciting and most lucrative club competition in world football and that they are imposing their rules and regulations on us. Yes it's frustrating that a United fan went to the game 'because they could' but a silver member couldn't. Yes it's frustrating that we can't drink beer in the concourse. Yes it's frustrating that the birch can't come out pre-game. But we were in the Champions League. We either do it their way or not at all.

I'm just playing devils advocate, but if your workplace offered you a ticket to the Champions League final between Juventus and Real Madrid, would you go?

Guest MattP Posted 19 April 2017 Posted 19 April 2017 Some faces totally new to me as well last night around. The bloke next to me had the worst breath I had ever encountered, I'm convinced he was partly responsible for our attacking threat down the left hand side in the second half.

dynamark Posted 19 April 2017 Posted 19 April 2017 I think the prem is the best paying comp in world footer and righty so. We just have to live with EUFA rules they don't even let us cut the pitch how we would like but money in the bank and credit to LCFC
Spudulike Posted 19 April 2017 Posted 19 April 2017 My mate is a Man City fan and from what he tells me the Etihad is even worse for neutrals and hangers-on on Champions League nights.

'denying genuine fans' If as a fan, you genuinely wanted to be at a game and I mean really wanted to be there, you'd get a ticket by hook or by crook. I dont buy into this, 'my mate couldnt get a ticket yet these plastics could' bollocks. If a plastic fan or neutral manages to get themselves a ticket, its because tickets are out there and available so if you REALLY want to be there you would be. Years ago when we were promoted under Micky Adams, the game that confirmed promotion was a home game to Brighton and it just so happened, the day after, I was leaving the country for a couple of years. The game was sold out but as I REALLY wanted to be there, I found a way. Giving up after ringing the ticket office and being told there are no tickets left for your membership type doesnt give you cause to grumble in my eyes.
maf13r Posted 19 April 2017 Posted 19 April 2017 Corporate tickets are rife at these matches. If you work for 1 of the main sponsors of the champions league you can apply for upto 4 tickets per person. Although its a nice privilege for working for those companies its unfair on the real fans of the team that cant get tickets.
RonnieTodger Posted 19 April 2017 Posted 19 April 2017 Not neutrals but it's happened in the last few home CL games in which our row at the top of SK1 is absolutely rammed. Definitely a few people that shouldn't be there.
