Mahrez to .......................?

Correct for half of the season, which was equally frustrating, he turned his season round though, he turned good.

However Mahrez would rather sit down with Sky to do an interview shown pre-match v Man City and say;

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11712/10874529/leicesters-riyad-mahrez-to-consider-future-in-summer

  • "When the team is good, is winning games, you can see me, I can score, I can assist, I can make a difference, end product, everything you know, when the team is not going good, I am part of it, so i'm not doing good aswell."

(But when the team did turn it round, start playing well, winning games, nothing changed with Riyad, he was still as poor as he'd been all season, so how he dares blames it on the other players I don't know, excuses, trying to hide is all I can put it down to and the 'star' player in a team has nowhere to hide!)

  • "At first I wanted to stay, when you do a season like I did, you start thinking, you have to take this train, maybe it won't come anymore, there are big clubs, you don't know what is gonna happen next seaosn, are they gonna come back for you in 2 season, 3 season, you don't know."

(Well I do know Riyad, play like you did last season and yes you've missed the train, the big clubs won't come back for you - Certainly not for the fee we want)

  • "Obviously I want to play Champions League every season, I want to be at a big club, I want to win trophies every season"

(And Arsenal is his favoured choice apparently )

I stick with  the statmwnt of  mahrez and what arsen wenger have said about him that even when the mahrez and his team mates did struggle to keep leicester in EPl   That doesnot  take away his qualities as top  player

The answers of matt  eliot  are prejudice  to  disrespect of mahrez talent  and  real  value  and ambistions  and what will the few coming days will tell  us    So  keep the breath fella

Thing is, in those 7 months the most heat he got was because looked like he lost a bit of pace and didn't have that amazing work rate that he is known for.

People managed to except his lack of goals because of the poor service, but they didn't except the significant drop in work rate.

Here are some examples:

And those are some of the "nicer" comments from that thread, first page of that thread that is.

Like they say, water under the bridge. But let's not act like it Was just the lack of service.

The phrase 'except Kante', when used as though he wasn't that important, is just wrong.

Kante was the most influential player this club has had for years, if not ever.

Losing him was an absolute calamity for LCFC.

Its if no surprise whatsoever that we went from generally pretty rubbish, in Pearson's Prem season, to title winners, back to relegation fodder, with the signing and then the sale of Kante. For this club he made a huge difference.

Of course he did and my post wasn't suggesting otherwise. I just get sick of people blaming Mahrez's poor form last season on his teammates not being good enough. When we won the league it was a team effort and yes players like Kante made a huge difference but the point i was making is that the players that are apparently not good enough to play with Mahrez are the same players that won the league the season before. My post actually didnt have anything to do with Kante and i only added him in as he was the only main player from the league winning season that left

Well I've just got back from a 6 hour round trip Peaky and I see we have now moved on from the pudding debate ....     pistols at dawn between you and the MFB's ? ...    :)

Come on Countryfox, be more blatant. It's clearly VFB's versus (the outnumbered the fox and Redouane) MFB's. It's the lone Ranger and Tonto versus the Cavendish gang ... isn't it? .. :P:sweating:

Please don't tell me that you don't think his work rate was lacking in those 7 months.

It's funny how we get accused of being Mahrez fan boys when the same people can't say a bad thing about Vardy.

At least I'm willing to admit that Mahrez had an off season

Edit: to be clear I am actually a big fan of Vardy's

Again you pick and choose, comments of posters and claim that this proves Vardy had proper service and therefore had a poor season.

I'm not saying he was on fire all season - clearly he wasn't. I'm arguing this point remember as one joker on here said he had 'an abysmal season'.

He only had approximately 2 shots every 3 games, so service was a major issue.

He scored with almost a third of all his shots across the season ffs.

Spot on.

Im fed up of having to argue about this.

Our service to our strikers last season was utterly awful because our midfield for lengthy periods was utterly awful.

Its very simple. If a striker like Vardy gets plenty of good assists, he'll become more confident and the goals will start coming. When the quality of the final ball is as bad as ours was last season, he'll get frustrated and start snatching at chances.

Its not rocket science. Drinkwater looked knackered, Amartey was an awful central midfielder and King was just...King.

This matters.

You get Vardy supplied by Gylfi...watch what happens....

Yeah BS. Why was Slimani scoring back then? Clearly the service was not the issue, Vardy was not interested at all.

Also this crappy logic that he was not getting any good service is crap. I can show you dozens of wasted chances created by Mahrez.

So per your logic: If Mahrez has Antoine Griezman to finish his chances, watch what happens.

In fairness to Vardy, it became apparent after a while that him hanging back near the halfway line when we didn't have the ball was a deliberate (awful) tactic in order to keep the team's shape. Couple not being able to play his natural game with the lack of service, and it's really no surprise he had a poor 5 months.

Let me know when you've done it because this is a video of Mahrez doing a few tricks in the middle of the park and holding onto the ball for too long. Not setting Vardy up to waste dozens of chances

His first touch though

The one touch layoff to Vardy against Man City, in the rain from a long, high ball, is just to much. Fantastic. We are going to miss watching this guy.
