Why? What could he possibly gain more so from leaving? If the dream was to come true for him and he moved to Barca, while some may think he is a shoe in to their starting 11. Bigger better players have failed at Barca (and real for that matter). What if he goes their and ends up on the bench? This is more of a probability than him walking into the starting 11. If Barca want a starting right winger, the deals already done. No ifs buts or maybe's. Their is a genuine chance he could go there and end up and West Ham on loan in 5 months. Is that better for him, than where he is now? How about Arsenal. They are not the team they were 15 (yes 15 years ago) and apart from their brief spell of competing with Man United (that's all they've done as Arsenal have never as a club dominated English football), they were a mid table English team before that. What exactly do you think will happen to his career that will not happen where he is? Honest question...as Mahrez international aspirations (or lack of) shows he doesn't really adhere to high level and traditionally prefers to be the big fish in a small pond.

But, Messi is expected to switch to a more permanent role in the middle because the 33 year old Iniesta is not expected to keep playing full time at his current level. That's why they have been considering Deulofeu.

Finnegan Posted 27 June 2017 Posted 27 June 2017 To be fair, Barça changed up from a straight 433 with Messi, Neymar and Suarez up front last year to having more of a 4231 with Messi in a free role and Rafinha being the fourth musketeer down the right. Rafinha is dog. Probably works harder than Mahrez defensively but is otherwise nowhere near Barcelona standard.
