Do you agree then?

That Wes Morgan needs to be sold and we need to completely rebuild our defence? Not in the slightest mate, not even close.

Sign a 3rd who is ready to do a job now but we can built our team around in a few years and either keep Benny or sign someone who will be ready when called upon but won't start.

Im not saying either Huth or Morgan should be guaranteed starters but I am saying you don't just sack your captain from the last 4 years because he's missed 10 games in the same period.

Sell, sell, sell.

It doesn't get better than last season for Morgan and, as things stand, we're lumbered with a declining player on big wages and a long-term contract because we had to do that to keep the squad happy ahead of this season.

Whenever Huth doesn't play alongside him he looks like the Championship Wes Morgan but Huth won't go on forever. This summer feels like a natural point to overhaul that title-winning side after what we've seen this season.

Let Mahrez move on if he wants to, sell Morgan whilst there's a taker, bring in two young top class centre halves, let Ulloa go in search of his first team football and give Kasper the captaincy to try and keep hold of him.

He's on big wages, he's 33& won't be a starter & your saying don't sell?

Wes will stay here until he retires, and then likely take up a coaching role with the club.

I expect to see him start fewer games and evetually move down the pecking list starting next season, but a club legend like Wes shouldn't be sold.

You are probably underestimating both his ability to do a job and influence around the club. He's a premier league winner, sign a younger CB and ask him and Huth to mentor him.

An example, Jose Fonte-Southampton legend& captain. Their 2nd best CB. West Ham offer £8m for him, they sell because it's good business. £5m for Wes Morgan is good business& selling him isn't stopping him for coming back and being a coach or something at the club. Also, if he wants to play every week I doubt he would get that here.

Earlier in the season Wes has looked like a rabbit stuck in the headlights and many goals could be attributed to his poor positional play or inability to dominate. Much as I like him he has looked very vulnerable and is not going to get any better..

Whether we sell him or not is immaterial but we definitely need a younger, quicker and more dominant CB. At times Wes has looked more like a lumbering carthorse. He has been a good servant to LCFC but unless shielded by those around him he is looking progressively more susceptible.

I'd like to keep Wes for at least one more season, because I think his overall influence on the team is even more important than his strength at the centre of the defence. But even if he goes, I doubt it would be to Newcastle: my own guess is that if he goes within the next couple of years, he will go back to Florist, especially if they continue to struggle. It would be quite something for him personally to help rescue them - if he could do so.

Personally i don't see what the benefit is in selling him?

he's 33 so he won't command a massive transfer fee to justify the sale,   He's not on a salary as big as our top three players, he's EXACTLY the kind of experienced defender any younger newcomers can learn from, he's club captain and a good influence in the dressing room...

we have nothing to gain from selling him.

Why would we want to be like Southampton? A team that sells its best players every year. No thanks.

Name me one player that excelled in the first 7 months of the season.

The difference is Fonte wasn't playing every match. Wes hadn't missed one in three years before being injured.

But Morgan won't be playing every week next season

Who specifically do we have to replace him?

Who ever we bring in in the summer

So based on last summers recruitment you would sack our captain off for Luis Hernandez?

Southampton wanted to keep him but he wouldn't sign a new contract so it's a shit example.

Was will be leaving, getting in a young centre back to replace him is all we need, anything else is change for changes sake.

What is actually happening?

The majority of people on this post actually want to sell our captain who has won us the Championship and Premier League while only missing a handful of games

Last summers recruitment was pathetic, crap example

It's not though. Until you know who is going to replace him you can't say SELL can you.
