They're hardly a reputable football transfer outlet unlike the BBC and The Independent etc. Potentially going there and being unable to save them from relegation would tarnish his career which wouldn't be deserved after last season.

Oh oh I get that it's in the sun..... but this is creative writing even for them... talk about plucking it out of your arse!
Aus Fox Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 Personally I would let him go, 5 million quid and use that towards bringing in Gibson or Maguire. I don't think we can go another full season with Huth and Morgan as our first choice CB pairing let one of them go and bring in someone a little younger.
foxfanazer Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 I'd be sad to see him go but I do think we need better now. He's been absolutely incredible for us and seems a great person to have around but I do think his age has showed at times this season. Maybe that was partly due to how we were playing under Ranieri. Two young quality centre backs this summer please
theessexfox Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 Fvck that, whether he gets phased out as a starter or not he's our leader and club legend, absolutely don't let go.
goose2010 Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 Absolute no chance would I sell him, 5 million ? What's the point! If we lose kasper as well it would be a disaster losing your captain and vice captain.
lgfualol Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 We wont sell. We do need a younger upgrade on him or Huth or both though.
crisp packet Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 Non story. Too many strong ties to the area. Cannot see it..
TheUltimateWinner Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 There will be nothing in this as it's the scum Don't think it's worth selling our club captain anyway, even if we are due an upgrade in that area, I'd rather Huth get pushed out
Bayfox Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 I'd take 8 million. We do need to replace 1 or both and i always felt huth made morgan look better. So for someone his age i'd be tempted to let him go and bring in someone alongside huth. Benny seems to have some sort if future here now and i'd still like to see amartey tried at some point meaning we maybe able to spend big on 1 cb this summer instead of 2.
Fox92 Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 I'd let him go for a decent offer. 33, not getting any better and never been as good as/as commanding as Huth. We need to bring in a couple of centre halves anyway so the chance to offload would be good.
st albans fox Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 Or perhaps we and them are competing for maguire and Benitez is muddying the water by forcing us to give a new commitment to Wes, thus convincing Maguire he should go to the toon if he wants playing time.
matty98 Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 5 million for the player who captained us to the premier league title? Not a chance. Morgan has been awesome since Shakey's taken over, would be massively disappointed if we let him leave.
fox_favourite Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 I want Messi and Ronaldo in our team next season, but that isn't going to happen. What they want and what will likely happen are two different things. Wouldn't make much sense to go there anyway.
ozleicester Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 To be quite honest, i think weve seen the last of him as a regular first choice, he is a club champion and our captain in our greatest ever year and id be sad to see him go, but if the $ are right...

Morgan has been awesome since Shakey's taken over, would be massively disappointed if we let him leave. We've got to move on. Last summer was the chance but we fvcked it up. So this summer the likes of these players have to go if possible (not all, just some - as I said Huth is the better defender and I'd rather keep him over Morgan) so we can get younger and better players in. The fact he was our captain when we won the top flight is irrelevant. United didn't keep the likes of Bruce, Pallister, Vidic forever did they. They didn't stand still. Got to move on as a club and we've got another chance this summer to do that.
ALC Fox Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 At 2-0 down yesterday it looked like our makeshift defence was doomed. But at restricting Man City's plethora of attacking talent to 2 goals at home - after they had demolished Palace's own makeshift defence by scoring 5 in the previous game - we showed that we are capable of coping without Morgan and Huth...for now. We all know that we need bodies in that position. But we now also know that Fuchs can cover in that position and Ben Chilwell is ready to start big Premier League games for Leicester City. Having said that, I wouldn't want to lose Morgan this summer. I want Leicester's next long-term captain to learn from Morgan and to be phased in while Morgan is still here. The next captain could be Kasper, but he is arguably more likely to leave this summer than Wes is. If Kasper does go, the contenders in the current squad - in no particular order - would be Huth, Fuchs, Simpson and Albrighton. I'm not sure about Drinky. Ndidi is very young but clearly a special player. Would making him captain (and be more of a 'European club' captain who leads by example rather than one who is an organiser or a shouter) help secure his long-term future? Personally I think our next long-term captain isn't at the club yet. It could be Gibson if we're actually interested and a potential rumour of Arsenal's interest is unfounded. He can also learn from Wes and Huth if we get him in this summer. Benny has shown his class and his ability as a deputy, although the reckless challenge that conceded the penalty was a return to the Benny who Shakespeare said wasn't ready for Premier League football earlier this season. Hopefully it was just a momentary lapse - he has certainly proved his credentials as a good Premier League centre back in recent weeks. But we still need Morgan - even at 33 - as a squad player and a leader. What have Newcastle got to offer that we haven't? Yes they will have money to spend and yes they have a great manager in charge. But they have no European football to offer and they're more likely to go down than we are I would have thought. Wes is already a legend here and I would think he'd want to end his career here. Apologies for the essay, ladies and gents.

I'm so with you Fox92. Do people forget about the financial restraints with in the game. The fact we will need to clear the wage bill to make room for new players. As a club we are supposed to show loyalty but Mahrrz has done great for us its ok if he wants to go. It don't work both ways. Do people in here hold players in higher regard than the club? Sorry no room in this game for sentiments.

You say you want our next long term captain to learn from Morgan. Then the first two players you mention Huth Fuchs Really?
stevelcfc Posted 14 May 2017 Posted 14 May 2017 Morons wanting Mahrez to leave is one thing, but Wes? What is wrong with you. He's shown under Shakey despite his age he's not on the decline yet and still 1st choice. He's been club captain in the most successful era of our club, and you want to ship him out for a plastic 5'er and a bag of skips? Have a word. People talk about Kasper's behind the scenes worth, Wes has that too.
