Last summers recruitment was pathetic, crap example

What says this summer is going to be different?

I cant believe people are debating a rumour that was made up by the sun

It's irrelevant, I'm baffled that people would even entertain the idea of selling him.

I would be gutted if we sold him he has been one of our better players over the last 4 years. He is a valuable part of our squad. I think a good rest this summer and he will be back to his best.

i am sure he has played for something like 3 years without a proper rest.

I'm not averse to selling any player providing on the replacement and dependent on the fee,

If we were to bring in someone like Gibson for £20m  and had an £8m offer for Morgan who may become our 3rd best centre back then that's great business and should be accepted.

If we get offers of above market value for players that we can replace with better quality the get it done.

As others have said, he's obviously well respected and should be kept if only for continuity purposes.

He still has a big part to play for us, whether on or off the pitch. To sacrifice that for 3-4million would be very risky

Its the most perfect example. What's to say this summers recruitment wont also be pathetic? You are saying to sell Morgan and sign a new CB to go straight into the team. What's to say the new CB would be decent for us?

I'm amazed people would be willing to just sell Morgan. As if he still cant do a job as a premier league defender. Baffling.

We shouldn't sell but Wes can't play every game for us and a top defender needs to be brought in whenever Wes or Huth can't play or needs a rest to be a gradual replacement for either of them!

He has been our captain fantastic and is well respected by the club, players and fans for what he has given and achieved with this club

We'll be bringing in a CB anyway, losing Morgan would just mean having to go out and find another one. Frankly he's not showed any signs of playing differently to me. He was absolutely fine the second Ranieri went along with everyone else who'd played crap before that.

The way I look at it, we don't need the money, we'll be bringing in a new CB anyway. So there is no reason to sell him. I'd rather not try and bed in two brand new CB's at the same time. For me, that's asking for trouble.

We can just stage how we phase them out, one this year (Was), one next year and so on.

Morgan has shown in his time with us that he's a great old-school central defender. He will win most aerial duels, he's strong in the challenge and when he's an excellent blocker of shots. He's quite a decent threat from set pieces too and there are hints that he's got some ability with his feet too. He seems to be an excellent pro and a level-headed leader. One that has a very good partnership with Huth and good understanding with Simpson, Fuchs and Schmeichel.

I still think he has something to offer and I wouldn't let him go yet.

That said, he's ageing, he looks hopelessly outmatched if he's not well protected by his teammates and maybe his latest injury is a warning that his body is starting to feel the strain of many, many consecutive top level games.

We are limited to playing one way and he's part of the reason. While even the best central defenders will look poor when exposed, we could do with a younger version of Wes or even an upgrade.

He's on big wages, he's 33& won't be a starter & your saying don't sell?

I agree three reasons I would sell.

Wes will stay here until he retires, and then likely take up a coaching role with the club.

I expect to see him start fewer games and evetually move down the pecking list starting next season, but a club legend like Wes shouldn't be sold.

Expensive bit part we also need to free up wages and squad places to bring in new players.

So based on last summers recruitment you would sack our captain off for Luis Hernandez?

That's such a stupid comment. I think we all mean a younger equal not a sub standard player.

I'm not saying I'd get rid of Morgan at all but if we got a good offer then I probably would.

Ideal scenario for me as far as our centre halves go next season would be to make a marquee signing who is undoubted first choice.

Huth and Morgan fight out to partner him and the loser becomes our third choice.

Wasilewski to be released.

Benalouane to become fourth choice or sold depending on any offers.

If Benalouane is sold three recognised centre halves should be enough considering we'll only be playing once most weeks.

We also have Fuchs to stand in in an emergency and Amartey if need be.

Morons wanting Mahrez to leave is one thing, but Wes? What is wrong with you. He's shown under Shakey despite his age he's not on the decline yet and still 1st choice. He's been club captain in the most successful era of our club, and you want to ship him out for a plastic 5'er and a bag of skips? Have a word. People talk about Kasper's behind the scenes worth, Wes has that too.

Morgan will stay with us until he retires from football. There is no point him leaving now not at his age

Nobody has a clue what his wages are.

Whoever you bring in is likely to cost far more than what we'd get for Morgan anyway on today's prices, and they won't play for free.

We'll already be bringing in one new centre back, wanting to bed in two new players is a risk that's not currently needed. Especially when the only two options you'd have if they didn't work out are an aging Huth and Benny who still has a long way to go to prove himself.

We don't need to free up squad places, there are numerous spaces already free to be filled and we're already losing Was.

His point I'd imagine is that there is no guarantee they will fit in and be better than Wes, See Hernandez and see Benny. So why take a risk that doesn't currently need taking.

Wes, Huth, Benny + New Centre back is a perfectly fine set of CB's to go into a new season with.

No we dont know his wage. But as captain he wont have been our lowest paid regular. And we know he got an improved contract in the summer.

if he stays I would have Huth and Benny in front of him. Then it would depend on our new man who starts.

Maybe from his point of view, but if the club see fit that a decent offer comes in for a player of his age and it free's up wages and brings in a reasonable sum of money, then it would be daft to dismiss it out of hand, FFP has made sure of that.

Just trying to point out that unless we have 2 better CBs here i wouldn't be so quick to sell our captain.

You think we are going to get a top defender in and he's going to bench warm behind Wes and Huth.

Listen Rudders can you at least post under your own name. lollol

Well Benny won't be in front of him, not a chance currently.
